This week, Thomas makes an announcement about the future of the podcast. Awfully difficult to be the Baptist Presbyterian when you are pretty much all the former and less of the latter. There may be new episodes here and there, there may be an entirely new podcast. For now Thomas is going to focus more on his writing. Time to discuss Aslan the Lion in the Chronicles of Narnia. What similarities does his story share with the bible, what differences are evident, and once we see both, what should we do with them?
Why are we going to talk about The Chronicles of Narnia? Because. Reasons. Which are spelled out here.
Thomas talks about his reading list since before Christmas...he may have had too much time on his hands. Then settle in to hear about the adventures in store for future episodes!
Thomas jumps back into the podcast with a short episode discussing a few of the films he saw last year. They were...fine. Just...fine.
I got a little up in my head over this episode and I pulled it. I got some good feedback though and I realize that this thing is going to remain imperfect no matter how much I grow. Taking a minute to plan and regroup with the hopes of having a much stronger podcast in the coming weeks and new year. So take this episode with a grain of salt. I really should have dedicated an hour to Matthew 25, maybe I will some day. Thanks! Thomas
Time to talk about what I am reading which of course leads into some mild conjecture about the intertestamental period and the creation of the Septuagint. Also, go read the Puritans!
We take a quick look at Philippians 4:11 and the overarching theme of contentment in the epistle. Then I slaughter some concepts from Jeremiah Burroughs.
Today I share the story of what started my shift from being a baptist to being a presbyterian and I try to do it with grace. Here's hoping it works. This leads into a brief discussion of forms of church government and the very real need for accountability regardless of which you subscribe to.
Thomas chats about his lack of marketing and social media skills. Can you help him? Then, why Reformation Day parties rock and why Tyndale is Thomas's favorite reformer. Finally, do the ends justify the means in ministry? Thomas has some thoughts on that as he reads Philippians 1:15-18
A day late and only two episodes in? Whatever shall he do? Thomas discusses schedules and timing for future episodes and then dives into matters of biblical interpretation and some pitfalls to avoid as you study scripture. He will most assuredly never remember to say in into the mic, don't forget to like and subscribe and leave happy reviews so others can find this podcast!
Welcome to Reforming Thomas the Baptist Presbyterian! This first episode will give you an introduction to Thomas and his many plans and hopes for this podcast. Thanks for listening--it can only get better right?
