Today I'm talking with Martha Bradley-Evans, Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs with the University of Utah Office of Undergraduate Studies. We'll discuss the diverse history of Regent Street and downtown Salt Lake City. Regent Street has long been a street of stories. It is a street where the city’s complexity, diversity of cultures and unique history intersect. Exposing the rich heritage of place represented through Regent Street’s stories must be integrated into the design of the next phase of this street’s life in Salt Lake City. With the emergence of this area as a theater and performing arts district, the Regent Street Placemaking project will provide a platform for new stories and new memories to be made in a unique setting in downtown Salt Lake City.

DJ Baxter is Executive Director of the Salt Lake City Redevelopment Agency. Today we'll talk about the role Salt Lake City plays in investing in the arts. The Salt Lake City RDA is currently working with property owners, businesses, and other stakeholders to develop plans for a complete transformation of Regent Street on Block 70 in downtown Salt Lake City. In conjunction with the new Eccles Performing Arts Center currently under construction on Main Street, the Regent Street Placemaking project will bring a new vitality and energy to an under-utilized area of our downtown.
