Description

Coming home from a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints can be harder than the mission itself. Each Monday, join Talmage Thayne as he interviews returned missionaries and other guests who share insights and stories of mental health, heartbreak, faith crisis, LGBT issues, loss of purpose, and drastic life changes. Yet, while facing these challenges, our guests have found confidence in God's specific call to adventure for them. So if you're home from a mission or have a friend who has found home life hard, this podcast is for you.

Send us Fan MailChandler Hendry, the man behind Restored_Truth, has passed away. But his ministry will not pass away. Chantry Hendry, Chuck’s brother, is continuing the work that was started. Chantry shares his story about going on a mission but never being fully convicted until 4 years ago. Car crashes, broken marriages, and cancer scares ultimately led him back to seeking God. His brother and wife, Mary, have been incredible examples while he’s been on his path of redemption.   Chantry’s story helps people know they are never too far from God’s grace. Also the love of family and a good woman can be one of the greatest motivating factors for change. The episode is all about Faith over Fear, and Chantry’s story exemplifies that. 0:00:00 — Chantry’s personal crises and need for compassion 0:06:00 — LDS upbringing, soccer, early faith struggles 0:12:00 — Exposure to pornography, cycles of shame 0:18:00 — Mission service, repentance, family influence 0:24:00 — Mission challenges, Atonement’s impact 0:30:00 — Returning home, MMA, military, distance 0:36:00 — Reconnecting with Chandler, spiritual wrestling 0:42:00 — Love vs. judgment, quotes from leaders 0:48:00 — Virtue lost, marriage issues, accountability 0:54:00 — Mother’s cancer, car accident, spiritual wake-up 1:00:00 — Miracles, repentance, spiritual restoration 1:06:00 — Meeting Mary, new relationship, blended family 1:12:00 — Inheriting Chandler’s mission, new purpose 1:18:00 — Grieving Chandler, family support, moving forward 1:24:00 — Advice for RMs, Atonement, closing thoughts Chantry’s Links IG: https://www.instagram.com/restored_warrior_/ Website: https://restoredtruth.org/YouTube 1: https://www.youtube.com/@RESTORED_TRUTH YouTube 2: https://www.youtube.com/@Restored_Warrior12 Talmage’s LinksIG 1: https://www.instagram.com/talmagethayne/IG 2: https://www.instagram.com/released_thepodcast/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@talmagethayne?_r=1&_t=ZT-99PYVm4XXAbApple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/released/id1502672640Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7leshOgYEWO1c9GFriUfNH YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@talmagethayne21Remember, God is good and is planning on your success. Send us Fan MailGod be with you till we meet again. Chandler Hendry shares his experience on the mission in Jackson, Mississippi, where he spent two years qualifying his testimony of the restored gospel. He did this by investigating other faiths, just as much as he taught about his own. Afterward, he was tested to see whether he would ACT in faith when no one was watching, and consequently became the number 1 rookie door-to-door salesman that summer. HIs continued study eventually led to making videos in defense of the faith.  Topics discussed in this episode include the implications of being a child of God; Galatians 1:8; claims that we worship a different Jesus; the Trinity never being taught in the Bible; how Eastern Orthodoxy has the best claim on the church; spiritual intelligences and eternity; and the case for evil.   Support Chandler’s family at this link: https://l1nq.com/t54mmqu00:00:00 - Testimony Approach & Investigator Experiences 00:01:04 - Mission Story & Early Doubts00:06:10 - Wrestling with Faith on Mission00:11:40 - Church Swaps & Interfaith Discussions00:14:56 - Facing Challenging Questions00:25:49 - Coming Home & Career Path00:29:05 - Sales Experience & Personal Tests00:32:21 - Post-Mission Study & Apologetics00:39:52 - Topic-Based Study Method00:45:05 - Worst Arguments Against LDS Beliefs00:51:55 - Trinity and Different Jesus00:59:59 - Defending LDS Christianity01:02:21 - Strongest Argument Against the Faith01:05:41 - Resources and Study Tools01:08:55 - Defending the Faith Online01:13:43 - Tad R. Send us Fan MailTalmage sits down with Noah Canon, a public speaker who’s passionate about suicide prevention for teens. Noah grew up in Idaho, and during his teenage years, he began working-out in the gym and advocating for suicide prevention. At one point, while visiting an elderly leader in his stake, who was both lonely and lived alone, Noah found himself in a vulnerable situation. Recognizing signs of sexual grooming, he immediately left and told his parents. Noah goes on to describe the damage this event caused: feelings of guilt, loss of his childhood, the distrust of church leaders, and the overall feeling of brokenness. Nevertheless, Noah didn’t let this event define him or take away his testimony. He describes that by leaning on Christ’s atonement, he could be healed, not only from his own sins, but from the trespasses of others. This Episode was recorded on November 3th, 2025TIMESTAMPS:00:00:00 — The End of Childhood: Encounter with a Trusted Leader00:01:24 — Introducing Noah Cannon: Mission & Mental Health Advocacy00:02:16 — Growing Up in Burley, Idaho & the Influence of Church Community00:05:03 — Early Mental Health Struggles and Finding Hope Through Exercise00:08:18 — Progress is Possible: Motivational Speaking & Faith Parallels00:12:05 — Building Friendship and the Experience of Sexual Grooming00:16:19 — Processing Guilt and Healing after Abuse00:21:05 — Discovering the Depth of Christ’s Atonement00:24:36 — Justice, Forgiveness, and Healing Journey00:30:01 — Turning Outward: Suicide Prevention & Sharing Hope00:37:53 — Serving a Mission & Integrating Suicide Prevention Work00:42:40 — Ministry After Mission: Public Speaking & Impact00:51:25 — Advice for Returning Missionaries: Progress, Accountability, and Faith00:55:48 — Closing Remarks & Where to Connect with Noah CannonNoah’s Links: https://www.instagram.com/noahcanon?igsh=MW1wdHQwamg5Ynl4NQ==https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-progress-podcast/id1515738765https://open.spotify.com/show/3Tz1Nu1WdMK3lUxOdi3ow9 Talmage/Released’s Links: https://www.instagram.com/talmagethayne/ https://www.instagram.com/released_thepodcast/ https://www.youtube.com/@talmagethayne21 https://www.tiktok.com/@talmagethayneRemember, God is good and is planning on your success.
