The 2022 budget has been released. In this episode of the Resolution Radio Podcast, we discuss what announcements have been made in relation to family law. Today will discuss the budget allocations over the next 4 years: $87.9 million over four years to assist families to resolve their family law matters in a timelier way and improve the safety and accessibility of the family law system. $1.2 million over four years granted to the not-for-profit Court Network to support the roll-out of Court Network volunteers operating at the Federal Circuit and Family Court. $52.4 million over four years to Legal Aid Commissions around Australia to meet the expected demand for support under the Family Violence and Cross-Examination of Parties Scheme. $22 million over five years to support the placement of state child protection and policing officials in the family law courts across Australia to facilitate information sharing between the family law, child protection and family violence systems. $16.5 million over two years from 2021-22 to support Legal Aid Commissions around Australia to meet the cost of legal representation, including independent children lawyers ordered by the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. This is part of the Government’s enhanced case management arrangements for family law proceedings. The current pressures of the family court system and the results of the 2022 budget and rules. In this episode of the Resolution Radio Podcast, we had the opportunity to hear from DRCA Dietitian and Health Coach, Kathy Ožaković In this episode we talk about: Kathy shares the reason she became a Dietitian and Health Coach. In 2011, Kathy was struggling with an eating disorder during her mid-teens. Her wake-up moment came when she was 117cm tall only 40kgs. Her saving grace came from a Doctor who referred Kathy to a dietitian. Kathy set out to intentionally heal her relationship with food and, after a gap year, was able to start her degree in Dietetics. Kathy is reaching 10 years since her recovery journey started and now, walks alongside others on their journeys. She made a promise to never make her clients feel judged – no matter how they came to be sitting in her office. ‘Be curious rather than judgemental’ she says. It leads to success in health coaching. In this episode we talk about: Cassandra defines Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) ADR allows you to settle matters outside of court, and we hear the dis-advantages of a legislative matter. In a court process, you hand over control and, the wait times on resolutions can be years. Mediation, in contrast, can be arranged within a few weeks. The traditional format of family law does not allow for open-ness and vulnerability. The advantages of Mediation and its ability to come to an agreement The costs and time benefits when using an ADR model compared to Court. The emotional benefits of Mediation and the space it creates for healing grief within the individuals involved. The ability to bring in external experts, like psychologists, into Alternative Dispute Resolution. Regional Australian towns often struggle with the public nature of a resolution. In this episode we talk about: Why Cassandra started DRCAUS and the work which she does within the separation space.
