Hey crammers, I thought it would be fun and different to make a quick podcast with my wife who is also a respiratory therapist. We talk about anxiety as respiratory therapy students and as working therapists and some of the ways we've coped with anxiety. Hope you enjoy and please let us know if we should do more of these types of laid back podcasts and what topics you might want us to cover.
Continuing with the theme of mechanical ventilation we are fortunate to have Professor Tim Gilmore compare and contrast both volume control and pressure control modes of ventilation.
In this episode Professor Tim Gilmore reviews the basics of mechanical ventilation.
This is the first of several modules diving into the broad and incredibly important topic of airway management.

As respiratory students and actively working therapists we have a tendency to focus primarily on developing our technical skills. Wether that is enhancing our understanding of ventilator management or improving our knowledge of respiratory pathology, we are constantly striving to know more.
But, what if we are missing something very important by focusing only on technical development. In fact, what if we focus so much on our technical skills that we forget the importance of developing our soft skills. Soft skills are those skills that your teachers in school and potential employers are focussing on more than ever today. They include your ability to get along with your fellow students and coworkers.
In the following episode Chuck Mulholland, an active assistant professor of respiratory therapy, breaks down exactly what soft skills teachers and employers are looking for and how to personally assess where you stand in terms of your own soft skill development.
In the final episode of our four part ABG series Professor Tim Gilmore discusses how to interpret ABG's in relation to common clinical scenarios you may encounter.
