Endurance begins with believing God is up to something good. Sometimes our discouraging circumstances feel pointless. But everything God does is filled with meaning. Nancy reminds you of God’s promises and purposes in your discouragement.
When David’s circumstances were chaotic and confusing, he had a choice to make. You and I have the same decision. Will we inquire of the Lord and delight in His direction, or will we go our own way?
Curious what defying discouragement looks like? David, Paul, and American missionary Ann Judson could have been overwhelmed by challenging circumstances, but instead they encouraged themselves in the Lord. If you’re discouraged today, do the same.
What discourages you the most? The Bible tells us about a time David was tempted to be discouraged. His home was destroyed by an enemy army and his own men were accusing him. But David knew how to be encouraged in the Lord.
What’s your first impulse when fears arise? Is it panic? Frustration? Doubt? Judy Dunagan has learned that prayer is a better response. Learn to embrace prayer and praise as antidotes to fear.
If fear is flooding your heart, remember: it doesn’t have to overtake you. Judy Dunagan has learned that God’s promises are a safe dwelling place. She invites you to embrace His peace and protection. Rest in Ps. 91 and find refuge from fear’s raging.
Walking with a suffering friend can be intimidating. Jani Ortlund says: your presence is what’s most important. Supporting a suffering loved one involves clinging to God’s promises, cultivating an empathetic heart, and relying on the Holy Spirit.
If you feel emotionally dry, there are some practical steps you can take. Nancy encourages you to remember, receive, and rejoice in God’s plan. Doing these things will prepare you to walk through life’s deserts successfully.
There are times when God seems so present and your emotions overflow toward Him. But there are other times that just feel dry. When you’re dry, will you still worship Him? Nancy helps you consider your heart attitude.
When trouble comes your way, you may only see difficulty. Despair. But God sees an opportunity to teach you something new. He wants to provide for you and build up your endurance. Find hope when you face problems and pain.
Nancy says times of testing help you trust God, even when you’re in impossible situations and you seem to have no resources to meet your needs. Learn to rest in the midst of life’s deserts, when you’re humbled and long for relief.
When you discipline your children, it shows that you love them. It’s not loving to let them do whatever they want and learn bad habits. Does that help you understand why God sometimes disciplines you?
If you had to leave a nice house and live somewhere full of mud and rats, how would you respond? We’ll hear from a woman who experienced it, and didn’t think she could handle it. Hear about the surprising discovery she made.
When you’re in a season of God doing great things through you, be careful. The time right afterward might bring a lot of temptation.
If you ever feel especially close to God—like He’s using you in powerful ways—you can expect to go through some times that are less emotional and less fulfilling. Learn to prepare for desert experiences.
Do you know someone who always seems to be perfectly in touch with the Lord? Always on a spiritual high or a mountaintop experience? No matter what it looks like, they aren’t always there. Everyone spends time in the valley and needs to prepare.
How do you heal from the pain of fatherlessness? Well, it’s not always a linear process, but Blair Linne offers some practical steps women can take. Listen as she shares what God’s Word says about adoption, forgiveness, and spiritual family.
The pain of fatherlessness is an all-too-common experience. But Blair Linne says the Christian woman can live victoriously—even as she navigates her father’s absence. Consider how the gospel helps us cling to our heavenly Father, to begin to heal.
When facing a terminal diagnosis, despair is a natural response. But Colleen Chao has learned that when she focuses on heaven, she experiences hope and joy instead. Colleen casts a vision of the glory and goodness that awaits the suffering saint.
Eventually, every follower of Jesus will encounter grief. When we’re standing face to face with sorrow, what do we do? Ignore it? Get angry? Pastor Paul Tautges says there’s a better way. Learn to process through lament and hope in God’s promises.
BEAUTIFULLY, Beautifully done!

she quoted, from a devotional book she was reading "a soul redeemed demands a life of praise".
Oh my - such a great episode and I’m so excited about this series!! Where can we find a link to the spoken word at the end?
thank you for encouraging us to keep our eyes on Christ, he is faithful!
wow! Just amazing!❤️
I relate to ms watts story...I was just going through the motions of being a Christian...my maturity and growth in Gods word allowed me to see God is with me in my storms...He never promised a life without pain..He promised to walk through the pain with me...my eyes are wide open to His almighty love now...no matter what trials I face I know He is there by my side.
thank you for this show. I love how short they are but filled w such wisdom.
Love these ideas but not everyone has the perfect Christian family. How do we prepare our hearts for thanksgiving when members of the family aren’t invited to gather together because they’re not “Christian” enough? Does 1 Corinthians 5:9-13 apply to Thanksgiving?
