For those of you who don't want to listen, I am taking a break for the month of May. June will be back to regularly scheduled episodes. I haven't taken a week off in 2 years for the show, so this break is long overdue:)
In this episode Chris from Vanished podcast breaks down the enduring historical mystery of what exactly happened to Fred Noonan & Amelia Earhart. They would disappear on July 2nd 1937, with Amelia's last words over radio transition being panicked ....the last phrase uttered being 'wait'. We have done just that in the over 80 years that have passed by. Chris takes us through who these people were, the facts of the case, as well as theories new and old & then ranks them in order of what he believes to be the most plausible explanation as to what happened to Fred & Amelia. In this episode Robin again joins me for another passion case of his previously covered on the trail went cold (his original description and sources are below). Robin takes me through all the twists and turns of a case that clearly illustrates just how many ways the system can get it wrong and the difficulty one faces in righting those wrongs. Support the show: Patreon.com/julesandashleyNovember 1, 2001. Columbia, Missouri. Kent Heitholt, a 48-year old sports editor for the Columbia Daily Tribune, is severely beaten and strangled to death in their parking lot. Two-and-a-half years later, investigators are led towards a young suspect named Charles Erickson, who has told people he had vivid dreams of himself and his friend, Ryan Ferguson, murdering Kent after leaving a nearby bar that night. After Charles confesses to the crime, both he and Ryan are charged with Kent’s murder and Charles’ testimony helps convict Ryan and send him to prison for 40 years. However, after Charles and another key witness recant their testimony, Ryan’s conviction is vacated and he is released from prison in 2013. Even though many feel that Charles is also innocent of the crime, he continues to remain incarcerated. If Ryan Ferguson and Charles Erickson did not murder Kent Heitholt, then who did? In this very personal episode I speak to Morgan's parents Steve and Renee about who their daughter was, who she likely would have become and the mysterious circumstances surrounding her death. Nothing is what it seems and unfortunately you will have more questions than answers.
In this week's episode Elyse from the True Crime Cat Lawyer podcast breaks down the death of Bill Mowbray, who was shot in the head as he slept in 1987 while his wife Susie lay beside him. Strange inconsistencies would crop up early such as Susie's pristine white nightgown, marital strife, a lack of GSR & blood on Bill's right hand and a 1.8 million dollar life insurance policy. Susie would be convicted of his murder in 1988 but the story definitely doesn't end there. In this episode we go through the potential crime, the scene and the inconsistencies and in the next episode we will get into the legal wrangling that took place. In this episode Lynette, a former prosecutor breaks down complex case of Anthony Sowell who was convicted in 2011 of murdering 11 women. Anthony was born into trauma & in an environment of abuse where at a young age the merging of sex and violence became apparent in the torture he watched inflicted on female family members. Anthony would soon begin to rape one of these family members and his abuses and predatory behavior towards women would escalate from there. This story involves body decaying in the home, a sausage shop that's blamed for the stench and a man who gaslights an entire community whilst targeting those women who are often neglected by society due to sex work & drug addiction. Cape Coral, FL, on June 19, 2020. Her disappearance has baffled her family, friends, and even the police investigating her case. When Lauren's belongings mysteriously begin appearing in a nearby park, the investigation is escalated, and the community rallies to search for this beautiful missing woman. But certain people close to Lauren are keeping their distance...the question is: why? Someone knows something; someone is COMPLICIT.
On this episode Robin & I dig into the disappearance of Bryce Laspisa. This is a really puzzling case from 2013 where Bryce begins to exhibit some strange and erratic behaviors, as well as drinking too much and using the prescription drug Vyvanse to stay up all night and play video games. Bryce attempts to give away some of his most meaningful possessions before mysteriously becoming stranded in Buttonwillow, California. Bryce resists driving the few hours to his parents and is confronted by the police at one point and the man who initially brought him his gasoline, at the behest of his parents. Bryce would eventually crash his car, in what was determined to be a purposeful crash that involved acceleration. A later search of the area would turn up no Bryce, his scent was lost at a truck stop, leading many to believe he hitched a ride. What happened to Bryce? Robin and I attempt to parse through the evidence and the theories. On this episode I speak with Charlie from Crimelines for her aftershow. We focus primarily on a case I covered early on out of the UK: The disappearance of Claudia Lawrence in 2009. Claudia was a chef at the University of York, she was 35 years old at the time of her disappearance and had an active social life with plenty of friends. Claudia's personal life would be seized upon by the British press when it appeared that she had carried on relationships with married men, judgement from the public followed and then a general sense of disengagement in finding her. Her father always maintained that these accusations were blown out of proportion. We discuss if they are even relevant and if police made a major misstep in choosing the words that they did. In this episode I discuss a famous 2008 case out of Florida with Kevin from the Jury Room that is unique, in that the general consensus is that Casey Anthony got away with Murder or at the very least Manslaughter or neglect in the death of her 2 year old daughter Caylee. In the next couple of weeks I am going to be discussing this case with Kevin from the Jury Room, so if you want some extensive background please give this episode, as well as part two a listen. In Orlando 2008 little three year old Caylee Anthony's life would be taken from her, despite the fact that Casey Anthony walks free and was determined to be 'not-guilty' by a jury after a 6 week trial, many still believe it's obvious who responsible for the death of Caylee and she somehow has gotten away with murder. This case has complex family dynamics and a pattern of pathological mistruths by Casey. The Jury Room: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-jury-room/id1536341829https://open.spotify.com/show/7MkqM6AeRWrgM1pzoAVKlAhttps://music.amazon.ca/podcasts/e755bcb0-768e-4f79-beb4-efd5e6ec38b6/the-jury-room_z_-c_c_580362593892_g_107369001810@juryroompodcast on Twitter

hey hun, I live near burnie tasmania. i want to inform you that the old mill is on the main road. It's on a main highway along the beach side. yes it sounds sketchy however it's opposite the yatch club. I believe Helen is up round hill lookout in burnie, somewhere in a shallow grave.

if Cindy called the police, she knew something was wrong. she wasn't trying to use the police to settle an issue within her family, by threatening. it is too judgemental to judge her for sounding calm. she has the calmness of someone who deals with Neverending shit and bizarre odd behavior. she must have known casey could be capable of something.

A lot has been said about how terrible Cindy Anthony is, and how she "enabled" Casey on one hand and "controlled Casey's life" on the other. How it is such a big deal that she was the first to hold Caylee. Other podcasts have not focused too much on George and his crappiness as a person, the pathological lying, the violent rages, etc. If you were Cindy, parenting someone like Casey under these circumstances, what the Hell would you do? Taking charge, becoming a bit of a control freak might be the only way. Casey was a potential "concealer" when it came to her pregnancy. The pathological lying, combined with the absolute concealment and denial of the pregnancy, the living of an alternate life as though the pregnancy did not exist, these point to someone who is planning on doing something very horrible. Like Skylar Richardson, Melissa Drexler, and Megan Huntsman level horrible. A mother's bond is not THAT fragile, if she is not a defective hateful monster to begin with. If Caylee was de

Wouldn't ten drinks before Noon give you a headache? I certainly would think so. I have never in my life consumed ten alcoholic beverages. I’m quite sure Diane wouldn't be complaining about a headache if she had guzzled ten drinks in the morning before hitting the road with a car full of children; as she would not want to raise any suspicions as to how she was feeling. My experience has been people who don’t want anyone to realize they are intoxicated interact with others as little as possible. There is NO excuse for Diane Shuler’s poor judgement. Furthermore, Jordon got exactly what he deserved! #burninhelldianeshuler #drunkdriversdeservetodie

Very interesting, but also highly contradictory. The shrink starts by saying that profiling is some pseudo-science etc., yet later himself says things like "doesn't fit the profile" etc. He also says forensic psychology is not scientific as the basis is on a very small sample, yet he later makes inferences based on his own patients, which I would guess are a small sample as well compared to any population.
