Riverside Inyo Mono San Bernardino - RIMS-AVID

AVID was founded by Mary Catherine Swanson in 1980 at Clairemont High School in San Diego. The first AVID program outside of San Diego county was implemented in Riverside at Ramona high School in 1988. Currently RIMS AVID has AVID elective classes at 183 schools (97 middle schools and 86 high schools) with over 25,000 students enrolled. The purpose of the AVID program is to prepare traditionally underserved students for four-year college eligibility and to restructure the teaching methodologies of an entire school to make college preparatory curricula available to almost all students. The following are a series of podcast interviews with AVID counselors, professors, teachers, and students.

Yvette Rodriguez: Brown University
