CW:This episode deals with character death. While we discuss these things above table and feel safe exploring them, we realize this might be difficult for some audience members. Please skip 30:03 to 32:51 if this would be triggering for you. As always, your safety and enjoyment is important to us.As Eight and Trix plummet toward a pool of molten earth the rest of the party races to help them. Talbain tosses a grappling hook, but it breaks. Realizing Trix is falling, Eight releases the orb into Rou’s possession and summons a portal underneath their friend. Talbain and Rou fumble a little but are able to save the orb from dropping below. Trix manages to angle themselves into the portal and tumbles out on their butt behind Rou and Talbain. As Trix is rescued, Mongo reaches out and catches Eight’s cape, leaving them to dangle high above the molten lake below.Eight takes the moment of stability to toss the ring through the portal, but watches helplessly when the toss misses its mark and the ring hurtles into the depths below. A blinding light flashes in the cavern momentarily. As everyone’s sight returns Eight slips from Mongo’s grasp. Talbain makes one more desperate attempt to grab Eight but misses the mark and the group is left to watch in horror as their friend disappears into the lava.A third color of smoke filters into the orb, the copper rings whir and make a clicking noise, the smell of sulfur emits from the orb. Behind them they hear a deep chuckle, and the owner is very large, barely able to fit within the cavern. The person thanks the party for freeing them, and helps them out of the cavern into the Dread Wastes. The stranger calls themselves Umé, and offers a boon as thanks for their freedom. Only Talbain takes them up on the offer, and Rou is broken hearted by his friend’s choice. Follow Dax @gmdax, Kappa @TheKappaChris, Sebastian @sebastianyue, WallE @walle132 and Wren @ThornyDryad EPISODE CREDITS: Produced by DaxOpening theme music, editing and mixing by WrenLogo Artwork design by JessieCharacter Artwork design by RiyuskiSegment music and sound effects licensed through Epidemic SoundLINKS:Be sure to follow and tag Roads Uncharted on Bluesky!

With Erdir defeated, Talbain and Trix take an opportunity to rifle through his pockets. They divide the goods among the rest of the party and Trix tries to peer into Erdir’s magic orb but to no avail. When Rou shifts back into his human form, Talbain reveals that he also is of the shapeshifter persuasion these days due to an incident while on a job. Rou lets him know that they have a deity that watches over the packs, and he even offers Talbain to meet up with Elaine, the lone wolf he met on his travels, in case he needed any advice or had questions. When Talbain is goaded into giving Eight an upgrade, Trix comments that perhaps they should all head outside the cavern before doing so. As all this is going on, Mongo continues to stare at Erdir’s corpse, commenting that something about it smells wrong. The group becomes concerned about Mongo’s attention toward the body, and Eight attempts to cast a dispel over it. They notice a weird shimmer cascade over the body before Mongo seems calmer about the situation. However, Erdir’s body immediately shrivels as if it had been mummified. Before the group escapes through the grate in the ceiling, Trix realizes they should check Faerlin’s pockets as well. They discover that Faerlin had mechanical limbs, and Talbain is shocked to discover he doesn’t recognize the maker. When Eight tries to discern if Faerlin’s ring is magical, they hear a voice just before the cavern floor splits open.

After being stabbed in the back, Trix frees themself from Faerlin and notices that Faerlin does not appear to be ensorceled. When they ask why Faerlin would stab them, he reveals that the Emperor would not have abandoned them at the outpost without reason. The pair of Adar-Kai briefly engage in hand-to-hand combat before Eight utilizes the orb to cast a deadly spell at Faerlin. Unknown to Eight, this causes a pale light to glow from the gaps in their plating. Faerlin’s next attack brings Trix down, but pays dearly for his decision when Mongo joins the fray. With Faerlin defeated, Erdir teleports into the cavern. Rou seizes the opportunity to invoke his new patron and shift into his wolf form, which reveals his black fur is broken by a single white circle of fur on his left shoulder. Talbain chases after him and quickly closes the gap just before Erdir casts a spell to immobilize Rou. Eight collapses the ceiling on top of Erdir, the gaps between their plating glowing brighter, just as Cela brings Trix back to consciousness. Erdir emerges from the pile of rocks and turns his attention to Talbain, who strikes back with deadly force.Follow Dax @gmdax, Kappa @TheKappaChris, Sebastian @sebastianyue, WallE @walle132 and Wren @ThornyDryad EPISODE CREDITS: Produced by DaxOpening theme music, editing and mixing by WrenLogo Artwork design by JessieCharacter Artwork design by RiyuskiSegment music and sound effects licensed through Epidemic SoundLINKS:Be sure to follow and tag Roads Uncharted on Bluesky!
A lantern illuminates the cell and reveals to Trix and Talbain that Faerlin is alive and well. It seems he’s come to escort Trix to their “proper chambers”, all the while shifting their eyes to the ceiling. Trix catches on to Faerlin’s hints and the pair agree to bring Talbain on as “another servant” so that Talbain can escape too. Faerlin escorts Trix and Talbain out of the cell through a hidden door in the floor, but they make a point to pull Talbain aside. He threatens Talbain with execution if Trix is harmed, but Talbain doesn’t seem bothered. When Faerlin assures the pair that The Dragon is not monitoring the tunnel, Trix brings Talbain up to speed. In the treasure vault, Rou sets Cela on a nearby chest before heading over to the pile of gear. He begins to change out of the borrowed clothes and notices Mongo holding a black furred pelt. It doesn’t take him long to realize that it’s his pelt, treated and prepared to be used as a rug. While Rou is absorbed in his thoughts, Eight learns something new about magic from Cela. They then set their sights on the orb and take it gently in hand just as Trix and Talbain arrive through a hidden door, escorted by Faerlin.Follow Dax @gmdax, Kappa @TheKappaChris, Sebastian @sebastianyue, WallE @walle132 and Wren @ThornyDryad EPISODE CREDITS: Produced by DaxOpening theme music, editing and mixing by WrenLogo Artwork design by JessieCharacter Artwork design by RiyuskiSegment music and sound effects licensed through Epidemic SoundLINKS:Be sure to follow and tag Roads Uncharted on Bluesky!
A younger Rou is leaving the office where he has been hired to perform some clerical work and off in the distance sees a familiar face among the market-goers. A tall, athletically built dark-skinned person with round glasses is bribing a vendor with some cinnamon buns. The person spots Rou and immediately rushes over, hastily grabbing their purchase before doing so. Rou tries his best to disappear into the crowd but can’t escape Talbain’s excited greeting. After a short banter, Talbain steers Rou toward the nearest bar in an overly friendly gesture of camaraderie. Back in the present day, Rou shakes off that memory and is greeted, briefly, by the smell of fresh cinnamon buns, sandalwood and lily. He tries to use his heightened senses to help find an exit but is unsuccessful, and the group quickly realizes the trap they’re set in when they hear stone beginning to shift. Rou notices that the tunnel is shifting and insists they run. Slowed from carrying Cela, Rou and Eight do their best to meander through the changing pathway and for a short time are separated from Mongo. Meanwhile, Trix looks around their dark cell and realizes that the breathing is coming from someone who calls themself Talbain. Talbain has been chained up by his ankles, his wrists tied to those chains and he has been left to dangle from the ceiling. Trix successfully picks the locks and Talbain is freed, but they’re not as successful in fixing their mechanical arm. Once Talbain’s arm has been adjusted, he convinces Trix to escape their cell. Before the pair can plan their escape, a familiar voice is heard in the dark.
Realizing they have a moment to breathe, the party takes a break to tend to their wounds and enjoy a short rest. They can hear the alarm still ringing in the distance, so they know it’s only a matter of time before they’re confronted by the enemy. As break draws to a close, Eight approaches Mongo and tries to convince them that they’ve been fooled and should tear through the Emperor’s fortress as payback. Mongo seems to agree and begins sniffing around. He comes to a portion of the far wall and uses the cudgel to break it, revealing a tunnel.Trix insists the party leave without them, feeling they can still convince the Emperor they’re still loyal. As the rest of the party head down the tunnel, the Emperor, Erdir and some guards arrive. Despite Trix’s best efforts at convincing the Emperor, Erdir produces a glass orb and reveals a “playback” of Trix and Zero having a conversation about Trix’s plan. The Emperor then commands Trix to be locked away until their "flawed thinking" can be corrected. When they’re alone, hidden away in a dark magic cell within the walls, Trix hears breathing nearby.      Follow Dax @gmdax, Kappa @TheKappaChris, Sebastian @sebastianyue and Wren @ThornyDryad EPISODE CREDITS: Produced by DaxOpening theme music, editing and mixing by WrenLogo Artwork design by JessieCharacter Artwork design by RiyuskiSegment music and sound effects licensed through Epidemic SoundLINKS:Be sure to follow and tag Roads Uncharted on Bluesky!
The Dragon’s voice has echoed through the room, the temperature has dropped and the sconces have been blown out. Forced to scramble in the dark, Rou hears a low rumbling nearby and extends his senses to try and gauge Mongo’s mood. When Mongo makes an angered exclamation, Trix responds by firing an arrow toward where they believe the creature is. They’re successful, and an explosion briefly lights up the room to expose Mongo’s position.Eight scolds Mongo for their actions, and in response Mongo swings their large chained weapon. Rou is lucky enough to dodge the attack, but Mongo’s shift to face the group reveals a pair of glowing eyes in the dark. Rou tries to help Cela who, despite her weakened state, does her best to assist the group. Eight, realizing what the glowing eyes mean, takes an opportunity to force Erdir’s control from Mongo’s mind. Realizing the creature can talk, Rou tries to engage it in a dialogue to avoid a fight. He makes his introductions of the group but the creature is not impressed that Eight is Rou’s friend, still mad that Eight hurt them. Rou continues to try and placate the creature and eventually learns that it has a name: Mongo. Mongo claims to have been ordered to guard the children, and gets clearly mad when Trix makes an attempt to get closer to the cages. As a truce has been brokered, Mongo allows Rou and Trix closer to the unconscious Eight. They help get Eight’s chest plate open so Cela can help heal them. Surprisingly, healing magic seems to work and little green leaves sprout from Eight’s darkwood core. Trix and Rou also notice something in Eight’s chest glow slightly from within the core. Eight reawakens and they’re able to share a reconciliation moment with Rou before Eight scolds Mongo for their role in keeping the children here. The group is told that Mongo only listens to “the boss” so they need to take up their concerns with The Dragon. When Trix tries to pass off that they outrank The Dragon, the lights go out and Erdir’s voice echoes in the chamber.Follow Dax @gmdax, Kappa @TheKappaChris, Sebastian @sebastianyue and Wren @ThornyDryadCheck out Pantsless Tables for more campaigns and charity events. With Rou hiding in the wardrobe ready to enact their plan, Trix calls for a guard to get some food. However, with the alarm blaring the guard admits food will have to wait as they don’t know what the alarm is for yet. When the guard tries to go to the bathroom for water, Trix stops him and says that they’d much rather take a nap as they’re not feeling well and he can leave. Rou attempts an attack but is foiled when his foot gets caught on the rug. Trying to salvage the situation, Rou covers the guard’s mouth and claims to be part of an elite squad and that the other guard outside the door can’t be trusted. The guard believes him and suggests Rou look in the bathroom for a healing potion because they need to get Trix moving. Unfortunately the guard makes noise as he is shuffling through the room and in an attempt to get him quiet, Rou’s rambling accidentally reveals Trix’s true plans to eliminate the cult and the Emperor. The guard attempts to assassinate Trix but fails when Rou calls for the other guard’s assistance. The pair are able to convince the second guard that the first guard is a traitor and he’s carted off…but not before leaving a gas bomb in Trix’s room.Meanwhile, Zero is still trapped between the wall and the giant chicken butt. A guard has made his way into the space and is refusing to cooperate. During the back and forth, Zero notices the guard glancing at the rune and then the symbol on their chest plating. Zero manages to amplify the rune, causing something to activate within the walls. The stone door slides open and reveals a dark pathway heading downward.Zero carries Cela down the path, the door closing behind them. When the path comes to an end, they find a very large room. Along the walls are various cells, blocked off by doors of iron bars. Little faces press against the bars to stare at the newcomers. Zero is elated to have finally found the children, but then notices the giant-sized creature sleeping in the center of the room.

Trix dangles from the window ledge, nearly falling to their death, when they realize a patch of sky seems to be missing. As she climbs, Trix tries to escape her grasp but there is a thin mucous substance that prevents them from getting good traction.  Meanwhile, Raspy leads Eight from their cell, through the fortress and down to a “purification chamber” where four cultists stand on opposite walls. On a platform, in the center, lies the body of Rou. Eight is forced to come to terms with the reality of The Dragon’s words, and their anger is stirred. Before leaving Eight alone, Raspy removes Eight’s manacles, claiming the cultists did this to Rou. Once the door shuts, the cultists draw in closer.Lunahse has come to defend Rou from Death’s deal: give up your werewolf form and you can return to your friends. Rou at first is comforted, but quickly feels very small when the gods begin to argue over his soul. Lunahse offers Death a deal on Rou’s behalf, which Death seems keen to take. Rou finds he’s running in the woods, a raven flying at his right side. Given that wolves and ravens have been allies in his experience, he follows the raven to a patch of woods. The raven, perched on a large rock, shifts into the form of a woman wearing a silver pendant in the shape of a raven’s head. Out of the shadows appears a form draped in black robes, face covered by an ivory mask. The woman leaves and, when he realizes he’s about to deal with Death itself, Rou begins bargaining for his return.  Trix is given a bath and some of their wounds healed by the Emperor’s servants. While enjoying a hot meal in their private quarters, they’re visited by the Emperor. He asks Trix about their actions at the outpost, and whether or not they plan to be useful and truly cooperative. Trix tries to bargain for Rou and Eight but the Emperor is dismissive, and tells Trix that they have until dawn to decide if they’re going to take on the role he has in store for them, or pay the consequences for their choices like their uncle once did. When the Emperor leaves, Trix attempts to escape through the window.   Eight awakens in their cell again, this time the manacles holding them are enchanted to prevent them from casting spells. As they ponder their situation, they are visited by the tattooed stranger who claims they have no name. Eight nicknames them “Raspy” because of their voice.
