Hey everyone,
Here is one of my recent Sunday afternoon chill sessions. They have been moved up by 30 mins, so if you listen live, please note the new time change. So to kick off the fact that this is now 2 hours, I went off the cuff and did something very chill and very different for this show. As you may recall I know even less about Dub than I do 2-Tone, but I know it's chill. So that's why today the Sunday afternoon Chill Session is "Dubbed" Dubsteady Tonight. I stumble and fumble through this episode, but it is a cool, chill and diggable show. Hope you enjoy!
Stayed tuned to Rocksteady Tonight for all the best Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae tunes from yesterday, today and tomorrow!

Quick turn around with tonight show. I have departed slightly from the Sunday afternoon chill sessions, just for now. School is keeping me very busy and I felt i was getting a little detached to what was happening now in our ska scene. As a result I kicked up some new tunes and busted out some banger. Have a lot of bands starting to get back on the road so go support your scene, and do it safely. Much love to you all and I will be back again soon .

Sorry it's been a while life gets crazy sometimes. The real kicker is I have some episodes ready to post. I am just wicked lazy! So this week I am throwing you al curve ball. I am posting Episode #75 because my buddy Mark wanted to listen. I have the rest before this ready to go though, maybe in the next few weeks I will get them up. This show I take my regular Sunday Afternoon Session and put a spin on it. I am deviating from my trad Sundays for a while because school is going to not allow me to do my shows Tuesday, so this is how I will stay current until next semester. So enjoy this episode is a banger, and I am sure you will enjoy the Hell out of it.

With Summer fast approach and the weather ratcheting up I thought it would a great idea to fire out a show of some killer new tracks and some of my favorite older tracks and a couple of legends in there too to rounds things out. Just what you need to get yourself fired up and into that dancing mood before the dog days of summer find you a drunken mess in a kiddie pool. Be well friends !

It has been a while so I thought it was time to post another new show. While the best way to listen is live at the times listed below, I will keep putting up shows as I have the time to. This episode is a nice mix of stuff including a handful of new tracks from the likes of The Articles, Danny Rebel and Winds of Matterhorn for starters. As the weather gets nice the tunes get hotter. So fire it up and enjoy it the way ska is meant to be enjoyed... LOUD !

I deviated my usual Sunday Traditional Chill Session this week, but fear not I still have you some chill cooking up. For the longest time I was not down with Ska tunes that did not have lyrics. As I worked my way backwards through 3rd Wave Ska in the tail end of the 90's I started to appreciate it a little bit. Well I appreciate it plenty fine today, but simply do not spend enough time doing so. So today's show it all Instrumental tunes from the 60's all the way up to today. You really get to hear the wide diversity and many influences in this brilliant music and its absolutely awesome! Hope you dig it and Happy Sunday. If you enjoy the show please subscribe and share.

We all know that today's Rude Boy and Rude Girl's can be a little bit cheeky, but so too could yesterday's legends. In fact they wrote the book with Rocksteady! So this episode we flip through some of the true scorchers of yesterday and today. There is nothing as cheeky as an indecent proposal in the view of ska! I sat of this show idea for a long time, I hope you enjoy it!

Spring is definitely on it's way. The days have gotten longer, the air is starting to warm up and soon I will be out mowing the grass. Sorry for the lag between shows school has been keeping me busy! Though you can always catch the shows live 3 times a week :) This week I grabbed some new tunes, some great tunes, some favorite tunes threw them all into a bag and poured them out and this is what you have. And let me be honest, it's a pretty damn good show! Doing these live I am pretty particular about quality, but sometimes you just have to let it go. The music is great even if I sound silly. Hope you enjoy the tunes!

So 2020 was quite a year. We all found the strength and determination we maybe knew existed. Would found the ability to persevere in the face of adversity. We saw turmoil and change, heard promises and lies. Most of us come out of 2020 better people, but sadly some of us did not come out at all. This episode we mourn the heavy losses of the last year in our music community. Performers who, while gone, have left us with legacies and music for generations to come.
Rest In Power and thank you for all you have left us!

This weeks Episode comes on the heels of post Covid. I was stricken with the plague, it kept me down a while and while it was mild it had taken me a little while to fully bounce back. But I think it's safe to say I have arrived. This show I bring you a excellent cross section from across the ages and spanning the breadth of the genre, truly a little bit of Roots and Culture. Hope you enjoy the snow and hope you didn't get blanketed with the 30" of snow like we got here!

Welcome this another special one off episode. Back in the 90's when Ska was rocking on all 8 cylinders another genre was making a comeback right behind it, this was Swing. I never enjoyed Swing quite as much as Ska, but I sure loved the dancing and the styles, especially all those legs! Gin and Juice and Cigarettes and a horn section was the right recipe for a good night out. The Swing Revival has largely fizzled out again in North America, but it was hopping for a little while and it was fun. Hope you enjoy this throwback show and the memories it brings back of better days.

Here is Part 1 of The Best of 2020. I suppose with the amount of legends we lost this year there is quite a lot of traditional Jamaican Music in my Best of this year. Our community took many blows and all of them hurt tremendously, but none more than the loss of Toots. I see there was a petition to have him added to this years Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it's about 50 years overdue, but everyone needs to respect him and his music. Anyway again this it my Best of from Spotify and as previously explained this is a perpetual sliding scale. This is another cranking set of tunes, fire it up and keep it alive. Stay safe friends, much love and respect!

So it's no secret that 2020 was a crazy ass year! Between the Politics and Covid and every other little thing that could go wrong and did the only normalcy I was left with (and a lot of you) was music. So I took advantage and listened the Hell out of everything I could find. I put so many hours on Spotify it borders on ridiculous, but that's what got me through the year. So this Podcast here, while not my best of Part 2 of my year in review starting at the bottom. But if we are being honest, when it comes to music there is no bottom and its an always sliding scale. Regardless this is a great set of tunes, so I hope you enjoy it. The top half is coming along soon as I can get it uploaded. Happy 2021 Friends, much love !

So Christmas has come again. Despite 2020 being virtually non-existent Christmas always comes! I am looking forward to it a little bit more this year than previous years though. A lot of the commercialization has been forgotten about, and with all the negativity in the world I have been trying to focus on the little people in my life, and making them happy. Lucky for me, my kids enjoy music! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree! Anyway embrace what you have, enjoy what you've got and let's look forward to flushing this turd of a year away. Here is to 2021, may it be a far cry better than this one has been. Don't forget to tune into Boot Boy Radio New Years Eve as I spin you into the New Year.

For a long time Rick and I have been kicking around the idea of churning out an episode of Oi! Tunes, but you have the usual complications when doing such a thing. This time we said to Hell with what the idiots thing, plus we had the blessing of the Grand Pooba of Boot Boy Radio. So what you've got is a mighty fine collection of Oi! tunes from yesteryear to present day. This should be enough to incite some aggro in the most steadfast fans of Rocksteady! And don't forget the Guinness! Let us know if you enjoy this show, we are thinking of adding one to the mix mothly.

I have been hearing a lot about Northern Soul, even watched a flick, still I know nothing about it! Though I do know quite a bit about Soul and Motown coming from just across the river from Detroit. So I figured with the world spinning as wild and crazy as it is right now we could all use a little Soul. So I gave it to you, Super Soul Sunday so put a pep in your step, some sing in your thing, some dance in your prance. I had a great time doing this show, hopefully you enjoy it as much.
