Welcome back, sunshine, to another fun-filled episode of the Neurodivergent Creative Podcast!  As we dive into the complexities of writing and creativity, remember this - YOUR story is meant to be told authentically FOR YOU, and not to appease someone else's ego or somebody else's expectations.  Tune in to this episode, where we'll expand on how you can uncover the 3 major roadblocks that are stopping you from finishing your first draft. So, buckle up, neurosparkly storytellers, you’re in for a wild (and necessary) ride! Episode Highlights: ✅ The importance of writing for yourself, not for the imagined expectations of others. ✅ Strategies for navigating the roadblocks of comparison and distraction on your creative journey. ✅ How to embrace the chaos of your first draft and turn it into a stepping stone towards your ultimate storytelling goals. Noteworthy Quotes: 💬 “You gotta get over the fact that not everybody's gonna like your book. You're not gonna impress everybody. You're not gonna be the genre for everybody. You're not gonna be the style or the voice for everybody… but people-pleasing is what’s gonna cock block your book.”   💬 “If you write a book for somebody else, it's gonna fall flat. It's not gonna feel good, and people are gonna be able to tell that it's fake; that you wrote it with somebody else's experience in mind, as opposed to writing it because you had to write it. So, remember, first draft, you're telling YOURSELF the story!” 💬 “YOUR story's not for other people. You gotta say, ‘The story's for ME, gotta write for ME!’” 💬 “There is one thing that I want you to take with you: The fact that your story matters and YOU deserve to write it down!” 💬 "Wherever you start is good enough to begin." Get ready to shake things up with Caitlin as she flips the script on what makes an aspiring writer versus a real writer.  In this episode, we dive deep into the world of creativity and storytelling, uncovering the myths and truths behind the title of a "real writer." From embracing imperfection to finding your unique voice, Caitlin will guide you through the journey of transforming from aspiring to thriving in the realm of words.  So grab your favorite writing tool, settle in, and let's rewrite the narrative on what it truly means to be a writer. Tune in now and discover the magic of crafting stories that are authentically and unapologetically you! Episode Highlights: ✅ Challenges faced by aspiring writers: neglecting unfinished works, collecting writing tips without implementation, and abandoning projects midway.✅ The Hustling Perfectionist and The Balanced Storyteller: the contrast between the hustling perfectionist's struggle with consistency and fear of failure with the balanced storyteller's experimental and learning-oriented approach.✅ Transitioning from Hustling Perfectionist to Balanced Storyteller: rather than striving for perfection, Caitlin advocates for a balanced approach to creativity. She encourages taking action, even if it means making mistakes and learning along the way. Noteworthy Quotes: 💬 "It's when we try something new and it doesn't turn out, and then we internalize that, and we think, 'Well, I must not be good at this.' That feels so... just it's such a bummer! And you don't deserve that because you're a creative being. Like, we were creative before we had credit scores. Okay? Like, there were cave paintings before there were credit scores." 💬 "Allowing that thing that you tried to just be a thing that you tried and not a moral judgment on yourself opens up so much opportunity. I want that for you. I want you to be able to, like, 'Breathe in advice, breathe out what does not serve you, and keep what is good for you.' It's radical acceptance of how shit works. Let's do it!" Hey there, sunshine! 🌞 In this episode, we're diving into a topic that's near and dear to Caitlin Liz Fisher’s heart: how they wrote over 100,000 words in just one year! And no, it didn't involve them waking up at the crack of dawn or setting strict daily word count goals! I'm here to spill the beans on my tried-and-true practice that revolutionized my writing routine. So, tune in for a fresh perspective on developing a consistent creative practice, applicable not only to writing but any creative endeavor. Episode Highlights: ✅ How embracing a flexible routine can fuel creativity and boost productivity, without succumbing to overwhelm or burnout. ✅ The importance of giving yourself permission to explore and create freely, without judgment or expectations. ✅ Strategies to keep your creative flame alive, even in the face of obstacles, time constraints, and demanding schedules. ✅ The transformative impact of unleashing your ideas through writing, as  showcased by the inspiring journey of one of our fellow creatives. Noteworthy Quotes: 💬 "If you have the idea and you would like to act on it, I invite you to do what I did... which is stop trying so damn hard to make this idea your whole fucking life. Okay, we need to scale back. We need to find a bare minimum." 💬 "Creativity is life-giving. Creativity is life-affirming. Creativity is life-saving. And so, when you put your creativity into a little box that says, 'If you fuck this up, you're doing it wrong.' NO. No, that is not correct. Creativity is not something that can be done wrong." 💬 "I'm reclaiming the concept of the bare minimum. We treat it like it's a bad thing. Like, 'Oh, that person only does, like, the bare minimum.' Hell, yeah! That person does the bare minimum. Yes, because the bare minimum is the level they can commit to and regularly meet. Now, when it comes to things like choosing a life partner, perhaps the bare minimum is NOT what you're shooting for." You can never get quiet enough to hear your own intuition speak if you are racing toward a finish line.” “There is relationship with self in stillness. There is relationship with self in peace. There's relationship with self in slowing down.” “One of the scariest places to be when you have been chasing weight loss and diet culture your whole life - the idea of stopping. It's like being a shark. You're like, 'If I am not constantly moving so that I can make myself smaller and more worthy, how could I possibly deserve to just stand here and live?' Caitlin is a wonderful person. Season 1, episode 3 on diet culture really drew me in. As a chronically disabled (not by the government though) person, I struggle so much with gaining even more weight the worse my health gets. This episode really hit me with the acceptance of being fat and able to still be creative.

Highly recommend. I was sucked into the hustle culture movement and... it was overwhelming and just... didn't feed my soul. The take in this podcast is all about prioritizing your goals and health... and quit frankly, is so much more important than the other self help info I've read or received.
