After an extremely long hiatus, we are once again ready to run away from our problems. The covid era has been tough on everyone but also tough on our memories as we try to remember the format for the podcast itself! we discuss the amazing women's US marathon and Half marathon records falling in January, the movie 'Into the Wind', and also lentils, pre cooked.
welcome to 2021, where we roll home at 5pm, eat a cheese toastie and fall asleep still wearing a coat because its dark and shit and you can’t go anywhere… is this the same for everyone? And we did a quiz because that is the limit on our social interaction in this new era! A slight breakdown in comms means this big quiz may only be partly running themed, but it is 2020 themed, as if we all need to spend more time reminiscing over that!
Do you remember when 2020 was supposed to be a one off crappy year of covid? Can you remember all the crazy things that happened this year?Join the Graham Sisters as they quiz each other and quiz along to the episode if you so wish... put those lock down 'family quiz skills' to the test...
Happy GTRD RAFOP's! Or at least we hope you enjoyed it when it happened. This episode looks at trail running in general, whilst also discussing the group run that we did (alas, when restrictions weren't so limiting) with friends and fellow runners! Top tips for trail running, and alas we revisit why oats are awesome once more. Also we can't not discuss the amazing lady that is Makenna Myler who SHOOK us good by running a 5:25 mile while 9 months pregnant.
Woohoo! an event! what is this!~Graham Sisters attempt multisporting with the Loch Ore Aquathon, HG violates paintball protocol and RG schools us on why you should get the flu jab if you are entitles to it. Plus a Rising Phoenix review, a Reci-PB on how not to die and a crappy joke!
Finally reunited in 'one room, one bubble, ONE HOUSEHOLD' (Queen style) the Graham Sisters talk London Marathon news and haircuts, after reviewing the sportive-style-start-Scurry to the Sea. Also a complete U-turn on camping but hey, thats COVID times for ya.
The Graham Sisters discuss the black lives matter movement as they try to educate themselves on what it means and why it is so important. Covering the story of Ahmaud Arbery and trying to do better and move to a better understanding.Following the important stuff, a tasty vegan Satay recipe and some glorious vocals from the amazing artist Marianne McGregor.
The Graham Sisters finally interview fellow Edinburgh Athlete, triathlete and coach Deborah Dickison about all things running related. A window into the complex (and as yet undiscovered by the Graham sisters) world of triathlons from sprint to ultra, and HG adopts one of RGs suggestions of what to do with oats in lockdown...
We know you've been on the edge of your seats for this one but hey its finally here - ten things to do with oats! Following some plant based oath hilarity RG discusses her come back from breathing problems and HG her lockdown marathon to complete the training block. Also some boojy lockdown suppers (if you like mushrooms and cashews) and a ponder on the meaning of 'distance'.
What is lockdown like in NYC? Almost the same as in the UK - just creepier!HG and RG finally catch up on the 'Holiday of a lifetime' and getting banished from the USA.
Can you run away from a worldwide pandemic? We aren't sure but we damn sure will try. More regular programming will continue from two socially distancing Graham Sisters - not in the same room but always on the same page! What happens if you eat too much panic bought pasta? Where are the highs and the lows? Stay tuned to find out...
With RG OOA with a mysterious illness and HG semi-injured its that winter time of year which sucks all of our motivation away... the Graham Sisters discuss @runningfromtheblackdog, the ongoing vapourfly debate, pepper pasta and clickbait videos...
Woah! Graham Sisters are back for 2020 with new segments, a STRAVA Runaway part, real deep chats and a pre pod snack attach involving lots of hula hoops. Stay up to date with the new Nike Next Percent saga and hear about RGs PW pride, before The Graham Sisters dive into beating those hental Health blues and also fighting back the January Phlegm.
for many reasons, 2019 sucked chunks. but hey, there were some sweet best bits to pick out, best races, best running puns, etc.Its late, but hey its here and its full of sass. Here's to 2020!!
WHO DOESN'T WANT TO PODCAST WITH MUM?? The Graham Sisters welcome Mama G on board the podcast train for a special family (but not in a cultish way) episode! We race report on the Inverleith Christmas Run, discuss 'lowering the bar' and the amazing 'Resurfacing' documentary which focusses on Andy Murray's injury recovery. Wanna know what the Schneider Marathon De Paris will be first to do? Wanna hear the Morph RE-REVIEWED? Want a Christmas running themed joke?? A lot of chat, some of which is about running. FYI recording quality is much improved.
Frances Ha (2012) is a black and white movie directed and written by Noah Baumbach and co written with the star Greta Gerwig.Set in NYC it follows Frances as she muddles through the yucky post uni period as an aspiring contemporary dancer, and perfectly apt for RAFOP Podcast it includes an epic running scene, plenty of problems and a goal or two.We finish up with a secret medal bag and some upcoming races to look forward to.
Sludgy hearts or wobbly knees? The first of a 2 part pod with special guest Lee Hutchison of Portobello Running Club and the A24 Project. Rosie gets scientific with the BJM and Hannah and Lee go from sublime to ridiculous reviewing a 5k and 38 Mile ultra (you decide which is which). Tune in to the next episode for the cross over element of this 2 parter where the newly formed trio review a movie with an iconic running scene and some truly 'running away' vibes
Thankfully not heading towards problems and away from goals, but a bit of an un-episode, whats not to like? The Graham sisters tell you why you should follow Jack Rayner and how a marathon can hook you to enter 4 years in a row, PLUS side by side comparisons of home and away 10k's 'A Place in the Sun' style.
a DAM good review of Amsterdam Half Marathon with special guests Ellie Wagstaff and Melissa Albarran - recorded live from a barge on a canal in Amstel. A full 4 way race review of the TCS Amsterdam Mizuno Half is followed by a segment switch up and Ellie and Melissa taken their problems and goals, pet peeves and power songs
Shit gets real for the Graham sisters with introduction of a legit mic courtesy of the bro. 159 predictions?? A glorious medal?? A beautiful story of reunion? One of the many reasons we love Nuffield health? Two bitchin' recommendations courtesy of RG and a standard helping of toilet chat. Also race camaraderie and side by side running...?? DISCUSS
