WARNING: As horror fans and general mutant folk, there comes a time where we inevitably get to the outer edges of what is acceptable and conscionable in the realm of entertainment and media. And folks, like the warnings and disclaimers you’ve likely come across out in the wild regarding this movie, we are warning you here that we’re covering CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST. We encourage everyone to listen to our conversation taking all of the controversial grossness of this seminal found footage horror flick into account and make your own decision whether or not you’d like to check the movie out. We discuss the depicted atrocities including: rape, animal death and cruelty, and general insensitivity toward indigenous cultures.
But also! Before we get to that we shout out some fans, and discuss Cody’s arguably more atrocious take that Michael Bay has only made 3 watchable movies.
Let us know what you think! We’d love to hear if you’ve seen CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST before, if you plan to check it out, or if we should just ignore it forever.
00:00 - 15:30ish Intros: We rejoice at the thought of seeing The Northman (which rules) and how Cody is absolutely a Robert Eggers doppelganger, unintentional self-genital mutilation, Lucas’ birthday, and SHOUT OUT TO FAN KURT! (keep reaching out!).
15:30ish - 1:07:30ish What we watched this week! Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Devil’s Rain, Black Sabbath, Livid, Witchboard, Inventing Anna, The Righteous Gemstones, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and AmbuLAnce (and Cody says some sh*t here that sends Curtis through the proverbial rafters).
1:07:30ish - CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST SHUDdown and discussion.
You know what's stupid? 5 character podcast titles being a requirement.
Welcome back to the SHUDcast! This week is Lucas’ pick and boy is it somethin’. We’re staying in folk horror territory as we take our Bibles and stolen chickens to a nice lady on the Russian moors in the hopes that we can stay in the manger as we talk about the movie, VIY!
00:00 - 26:00ish Intros – Why we want to go to Alamo Drafthouse all the time, giving listeners the keys to The Meat Hanger, getting scared at Halloween Horror Nights and more hardcore haunts, what we’d do with our own Scare BnBs, the nature of horror in pornography, and what it’s like to try and save water and recycle in California vs Texas.
26:00ish - 50:00ish What we watched this week! Ghost Rider, You Won’t Be Alone, Jackass Forever (Cody and his dad), Death on the Nile, Tragedy Girls (mostly), In the Mood for Love, The VVitch, Jurassic Park, The Conjuring, Session 9, and Blade 2.
50:00ish - VIY SHUDdown and discussion!
As Winter death rattles into Spring and Summer licks its tasty chops eyeballing its oncoming vernal meal, so does the SHUDcast return with another ritualistic review. The boys put on their outdoor pants and go on a foraging mission to gather dried sticks and other detritus in order to properly discuss the SHUDDER Original, HELLBENDER. Along the way we discuss the evolution of COVID seasons, Austin’s trip to Broadway, and teach Cody a bevy of filmmaking techniques so he may ascertain this fine art of Cinema. Grab a dried fruit of your choice and hex the world around you as you dig in to this witchy episode!
00:00 - 13:30ish Intros. We discuss which season the show is in and how it probably lines up with COVID seasons, reminiscing on COVID season 1, and how the seafaring folk talked to us at Austin’s bachelor party.
13:30ish - 49:00ish What we watched this week! Halloween Kills (again and again), Stand By Me, The Brood (or at least partially), Blade Runner 2049, Kubo and the Two Strings (with some enhancement), Coraline, Everything Everywhere All At Once (the first of many you’ll hear about from us), Pig, The Gentlemen, Wrath of Man, The Lost City, Hellraiser, Hellraiser 2, Turning Red, Dark Shadows, and Yellowjackets. In other mediums, Cody went to a couple of concerts and saw AFI and Baroness while Austin went to actual Broadway and saw Dear Evan Hansen and Six, and Curtis went to fake Broadway with Joel Schumacher’s Phantom of the Opera.
49:00ish - HELLBENDER SHUDdown and discussion
Gather ‘round the Maypole, ye Summery lads and lasses as the SHUDcast takes a pilgrimage to pagan utopia and we discuss the 1973 classic, THE WICKER MAN. In this giant, wicker effigy-sized episode, which we recorded after a long hiatus (which you didn’t experience in our releasing schedule), we go over lots and lots and lots of fun titles that we caught up on as well as our long-awaited discussion (which was featured in our ShhhUDcast mini-ep recently) on Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN. In the middle of it all, we finally discover what Cody’s ultimate kink is and, frankly, we were all surprised and not at the same time. So settle in, grab your crisp, hallucinogenic beverage of choice, and go on this journey of discovery with us!
00:00 - 13:30ish Intros! What life has been like – we’re fake sponsored by HomeState Texas Kitchen in Los Angeles and Liquid Death water now. Lucas discusses trucker paradise, Bucky’s. It had been a hot minute for us even if there was no pause in your glorious releasing schedule so Cody decided to rank his friends based on how much he missed us.
13:30ish - 1:09:00ish What we watched over the last 6 weeks! Moonfall, Pan’s Labyrinth, Halloween Kills (Lucas finally did it!), Texas Chainsaw Massacre (‘22), the rest of the Texas Chainsaws as well (Curtis went whole hog), Turning Red (because we are men of multitudes), The Purge: Anarchy, Schindler’s List (Austin’s wife, Kaylin had COVID and she picked the movies for a minute… they’re WILD), Gladiator, My Cousin Vinny, Philadelphia, Malcolm X, Kingsman 1 & 2, Phantasm 1 & 2, The Cursed, Studio 666, Fresh, X, The Lord of the Rings Extended Editions (Lucas had a week), Hellraiser III, Fantastic Beasts 1 & 2, Yellowjackets, and then…
1:09:00ish - 1:35:00ish THE BATMAN. Three of us had seen Matt Reeves’ new Bat-flick three times before this discussion and we go DEEP. It’s horror-adjacent so don’t hate on us too much while we go through our emo leather and body armor phase.
1:35:00ish - THE WICKER MAN.
Shhh… keep it secret… this mini-episode is brought to you by all the goodness we stuff into our eyeballs that may or may not come from platforms other than our streaming savior, Shudder. Upon recording an upcoming episode on 1973’s THE WICKER MAN, we went long and hard regarding a recent release that we couldn’t idly let rest inside our larger episode discussion.
So with Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN, so is born the ShhhUDcast mini-episode! In these monstrous morsels you’ll hear about a title that we didn’t all discover on Shudder, but felt it integral for all you dear listeners to hear about anyway! Just, don’t tell Shudder… Or do! They’re not paying us (yet) and we could use them feeling like we’re seeing other streamers and want to enter an exclusive relationship with us.
So please enjoy this very animated, kink-enlightening discussion on THE BATMAN
This week on the SHUDcast we dive into our listener shoutouts for those faithful who have interacted with us on any, and we mean any, and all social platforms, dig up our personas during the MTV millennial era, and wash it all down with the our discussion of the flagbearer for the most specific time period for nu metal goths, QUEEN OF THE DAMNED. Check us out next time as we get into the seminal 1973 classic, THE WICKER MAN.
You thought you were free of us! We boys of the SHUD-cast have spent the beginnings of our 2022 racking up a bevy of delicious horror-based cinema discussion for your listening displeasure. Hear us as we reconvene for the first time since November and talk about the myriad of movies Curtis watched at the end of 2021, our personal SCREAM franchise rankings, how Cody is coping with finally quitting smoking, and finally, our thoughts and feelings on one of the newest films from our Patron Saint of Cinema, Nicolas Cage, in PRISONERS OF THE GHOSTLAND (disclaimer at the top about how Sion Sono is a piece of human excrement).
Folks, friends, brethren and sistren(?) we’ve come to the end of another year of living, loving, and more importantly, SHUDcasting. It’s been quite the haunted journey and you’ve stuck with us through thin and thinner and for that we appreciate each and every one of you. Take a listen to our final episode of the year where we reflect on the people we’ve become, the times we’ve enjoyed (and hated) at the theater again, Cody’s astonishing knowledge of Jonathan Larson, and watch our enjoyment and excitement as we share each of our top 5 horror movies in 2021. Show us your list too! Do you love MALIGNANT? Did Titane make your orifices pucker? Let us know and catch us at the top of 2022!
Like Arnold Schwarzenegger at a Black Friday sale at a toy store, we are back JUST in time for the holidays! Join us in our penultimate episode of the year as we discuss what our Patreon tiers should be, Austin getting married, how discussions with Uber drivers have changed, Cody taking a “break from horror” while we all explain his broodiness to him, Lucas getting in a fight on a “Hype Beast” post (The three of us are as confused as you might be), how Curtis shouldn’t push buttons on the podcast machine, and this week’s Shudder film, SPIRAL. Tune in in two weeks as we close out the year with our top five horrors of 2021 lists. Share yours in the meantime!
Cody and Lucas learn what a flea circus is.
00:00 - 11:00ish Cody’s flea circus
11:00ish - 26:00ish Our excursion to Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood

Curtis: Lifeforce, Jungle Cruise, The Raid 2, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (‘03), King Arthur and the Legend of the Sword, and From Dusk til Dawn. Lucas: Midnight Mass, and Squid Game. Cody: An American Werewolf in London, Bride of Chucky, Who Can Kill a Child, Corpse Bride, 6 of the Frankenstein movies, Poltergeist, Blood Red Sky, and May the Devil Take You.
1:06:00ish - Carrie. SHUDdown and discussion.
What animal would Cody not want in the room with him.Curtis lists off his top ten MCU movies. Cody and Curtis lose themselves gushing over the Scream movies. Austin makes his feelings known about Dune. We invite over Die Antwoord. Cody delivers his second straight manifesto with Frank Henenlotter’s FRANKENHOOKER. Also fuck the MPA
It’s time to grab a handful of your favorite poisonous fungus and take a trip back to 17th century England as the SHUD-crew attempts to navigate Ben Wheatley’s hallucinogenic tale of friendship and venereal disease, A FIELD IN ENGLAND. We let Cody go full Cody as he attempts to guide us, not unlike a metaphysical shaman, through the quagmire with his manifesto of madness. Austin takes revelry (as do we all) in seeing how many bits Cody can misunderstand. Lucas surprises the group with some nature facts. And Curtis yells about Halloween: H20. So, things are normal...
The S.H.U.D.cast survived Austin’s bachelor party! And so did some incriminating surveillance video! We come to you after taking one week off (but let’s face it, it felt like a lifetime) to bring you the husks of our former selves talking about all of the recent horrors we watched, including throwing a good heaping of love on The Suicide Squad, our enjoyment of the fact that Cody doesn’t understand how to do a bit, Curtis fully expresses his love for Twilight, which all leads into our discussion of the neo-western, guttersludge masterpiece of vampire grime, NEAR DARK. Follow us OFFICIALLY as @SHUDcast on all social medias!
Comin at ya live, in the past! We tried our hand at livestreaming our horror shenanigans for the first time so if you tuned in there, tune in again for the stripped down, slick and shiny audio of our Maniac Cop-athon! Amongst our discussions: Cody tries to make “sBaced” a thing, Austin gets heated about athletes being actors (and most other things, frankly), Curtis admits his love for an oft-derided series of movies, and Lucas JAMS us full with his anger toward one particular new release. All of that leads up to the maniac discussion to end all maniacal discussions: Maniac Cop, Maniac Cop 2, and Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence.
You’ve done it. You’ve caught up to us. Or maybe we just didn’t do it. Either way, welcome to our SHUDlives in almost real time as this episode has about a week from recording to release. We catch up on how our lives are changing going back out into the world, what bouncer life is like in the fight pits, Cody’s hot and bothered foot husk, Austin’s bachelor party updates, how the power of A-List is going to Cody’s head, about three weeks worth of horror titles we ran through, and finally… this week’s SHUDDER title: BLACK SUNDAY. Thank you, SHUDDER, for being you and giving us reason to be here (please pay attention to us).
We’re getting weird(er) this time, friends. Real juicy topics include: how we decide what gets bleeped, Brendan Fraser’s free fall, the state of our nutrition and how Lucas is hawt AF, Zelda feet, the state of the youth, and the introduction of our brand new band: Full Volume Meat Helmet. It gets psychotc, sort of like…PSYCHO GOREMAN (yeah we get there too)
We’re rollin’ into Hot Pod Summer where Lucas has already met a pirate queen, Cody and Austin discuss going back to Dodgers Stadium, and Curtis yearns for the days of doing karaoke at Barney’s in Burbank. You’ve basically caught up to us in real time as we try to reacclimate to the world where we’re shouting obscenities at each other over which Conjuring movie is best and how many more Fulci movies Austin can handle. That’s right, we’re dealing with a classic this week in Lucio Fulci’s seminal masterpiece (to some), The Beyond. Caution: a lot of… fluids… are discussed.
Grab a handful of party drugs and protein smoothies, and strap in for an epic episode of in person horror shenanigans. We discuss the journey to becoming the Hot-Cast, fighting much more successful (but ultimately stupid) podcasts, and finally this week’s film: Fried Barry! And listen close as there are more than a couple of Easter eggs to catch that will guarantee you cold hard cash. Hint: Subscribe and tell your friends and watch the HallowStream!
We’re back! Well, we’ve been here the whole time but we’re finally vaxxed to the maxx and ready to smell each other deeply again in the basement! Hear our excitement as we get to finally podcast face to face after more than a year so we catch up on life, talk about the horrors we’ve watched recently, and dive into one of Shudder’s most interested giallo’s in their library: Knife+Heart. The beers and bad jokes flow aplenty and we’re more than excited to be back in our horror hallows again. Enjoy!
Grab your Count Chocula and/or a Diet Miller, and join us as we check out Saturday the 14th (1981) - a movie that evokes everyone’s favorite childhood slapstick comedy, and a bit of weird misguided sexualism (hopefully not evoking childhood memories...). Also on this episode are our body transformation updates, why we don’t interact with kids of any type, and how some of us have PS5s and some of us don’t. And don't forget to check out our newest HallowStream: “They Are Risen: A Very Zombie HallowStream” on May 27th at 7:30pm Pacific on the @accidentaljacket youtube channel!
