Does quantum mechanics lend a escape hatch away from the cause of the universe? Just as the axe pre-existed in the form of iron and wood couldn't the universe have pre-existed in some form before the Big Bang? If everything must have a cause why must God be excluded? Alright fine! The universe has something behind it. But you still cannot say it is God who created it or that the force that created the universe is omnipotent or that it is even a personal mind! Why can't it be a force like gravity? Why can't it be the universe itself! Join us to explore the identity of the cause of the universe in this episode. Links and citation:Craig, William Lane. One of the biggest scientific discovery of recent past that shook atheist scientists was the expansion of the universe. An unchallenged field of scientific knowledge is that the universe is running out of the limited energy we have. What do these mean for the Christian? It means the evidence for a Creator is overwhelming! Tune in to know more.Links and citation:Craig, William Lane. Reasonable Faith: Christian Truth and Apologetics 3rd EditionJohn A. If you start to count up from 0 to the largest number will you ever finish counting? It would take literally forever! How about starting to count down from the largest number all the way down to 0? Is it even possible to start, let alone asking how long it would take?! This impossibility faces anyone who says the universe never began to exist or has always existed. Just because a sheep has a mother it doesn't mean that the herd (collection of sheeps) would have a mother too. So likewise, just because the things within the universe have a cause/creator it doesn't mean that the universe (collection of all things) has a Cause/Creator. Is that a solid objection? Nope, not really (well the sheep and the herd both have a shepherd so....). Join us as we close down on the defense of part one of the argument for God from the universe's existence. Links and citation:Dennett, Daniel; Breaking the Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon (New York: Viking, 2006), 242Craig, William Lane; Reasonable Faith: Christian Truth and Apologetics 3rd EditionRecord a question and stand a chance to be featured on SAFT Podcast: https://www.speakpipe.com/saftpodcastBackground music credits:Exclusive: Gandhi Jayanti Special Song | Bande Mein Tha Dum | T-Series https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GukgglbNN4YWatch the video podcast here (https://youtu.be/pkS_oZl-iIs)Interested to join our voluntary team as Graphic Designer? If you say God always existed, why not say the same for the universe? If you say that God is 'timeless', what does that even mean? If there was no time prior to the Big Bang, how was God's relation to time? Is He still timeless now? Hypocrite! Biased! These are descriptions we don't want to hear. We sometimes assume that these don't apply to experts and the best minds out there. But it does apply to all. In continuation of our exploration of the creator behind the universe we take a pit stop to assess what and why one of the best atheist philosophers, J L Mackie, held out his objection against the cause of the universe. You'll be surprised to see how the commoner and the expert are often similar in intellectual inquiry.Chapter markers: 00:00- Intro01:42- Recap of EP 6803:51- Core of Mackie's objection to KCA07:28- Number of objections by Mackie08:48- Why talk of a not so well known philosopher as him?11:29- The 3 objections14:38- Why doesn't he deny Premise 1 of KCA?20:45- OutroLinks and citation:J. The question remains: if the universe could really come from nothing, then why can't Beethoven or Bhagat Singh pop out of nowhere? If NOTHING created the universe, if really NO-THING created the universe then why the preference for universe(s) alone? Why can't anything and everything appear out of nowhere, from nowhere, and for no reason? How can the lack-of-anything (nothing) have any preference? Why does it look like philosophers get stuck in mundane and trivial details blowing it out of proportions? For instance, do you think that if you were to 'imagine/conceive' in your mind Dora the Explorer popping into existence from thin air in your room that she could actually appear out of thin air in your room? No right!? But philosopher J L Mackie thinks so. We look at Mackie's absurd position, miracle-denier philosopher David Hume's point of agreement on the Kalam and more in this latest episode.Links and citation:J. L. Imagine you have multiple pieces of data or facts before you. How do you make sense of it? Well you could try and draw up a theory or explanation that best explains the facts at hand. Enter Inductive Arguments. For example the resurrection of Jesus Christ has many historical facts attached to it (like the empty tomb, the martyrdom of the disciples etc.) Did the disciples steal the body? Did they hallucinate? Maybe Jesus didn’t really die in the first place? Maybe He had an unknown twin? How do you pick one theory as the better fit? In the previous episodes we concluded our section on 'knowing Christianity is true'. In this episode we begin our quest on 'showing Christianity is true'. Join us this time as we begin exploring the question of how to show Christianity is true. The central challenge is how can a Christian who may claim to have personal experience of God present to others that his/her experience is not delusional? What common grounds can be stood upon to disengage from this epistemic standoff? Let's find out!Chapter Markers:00:00 A swell intro01:20 Why should we show Christianity is true?02:15 Quick recap06:56 Is the role of the inner-witness of the Holy Spirit lacking here?12:34 What are the common grounds to show Christianity is true?15:16 How can we know an argument is true?20:52 Why are the episodes short now?24:32 OutroLinks and citation:Record a question and stand a chance to be featured on SAFT Podcast: https://www.speakpipe.com/saftpodcast  (Video) Check out ‘Ep #3- Is Truth Objective Or Subjective?’ (https://youtu.be/dbQ_EAVXzvw)(Video) Check out ‘SAFT Encounter| Ep #1| Objective truth vs. Subjective truth' (https://youtu.be/CGPiq0lMa1s)(Video) Check out ‘SAFT Encounter| Ep #2| Objective truth vs. Subjective truth’ (https://youtu.be/UUAEVnX2WkI)(Video) Check out ‘SAFT Encounter| Ep #3| Objective truth vs. Subjective truth’ (https://youtu.be/2hJqf0BDbEI)(Video) Check out ‘SAFT Encounter| Ep #4| Objective truth vs. Subjective truth’ (https://youtu.be/5DeUt0cGGPM)Interested to join our voluntary team as Graphic Designer? Last time we looked at the intriguing concept of ‘properly basic belief’ and what it means to us when we ask the question ‘how can I know that God exists’. In this episode we conclude the dialogue on how we can know Christianity is true by analyzing the role arguments play here. If I can know that God exists through the inner witness of the Holy Spirit then do I even need arguments? Aren’t they redundant? We are back with episode two of Natural Theology!! Throughout this series we explore in bite-sized format the question if there are any good arguments for the existence of God. Last time we discussed the self-authenticating inner witness of the Holy Spirit and the role it plays in our knowing that Christianity is true. But can it justify our belief in God even if there are arguments that counter it? Can our experience of God be something as fundamental to our knowledge in the face of objections and arguments as our knowledge of our innocence/guilt in a situation?
