What started as a discussion of the fish and the bees quickly turned into a discussion of some of the weirder laws that still exist in California today. Our source is from an article on california.com. This episode will be the final episode that will have everyone together in person, so we want to say thank you to every one of our listeners during the latest rendition of SLOOM (we will still be making episodes, just not in person so much).
Today, we brought on Adam to discuss the underground rock scene at our local city. He plays in a lot of projects! Check out his house's page on instagram (@theglowhousekalamazoo)! Jasper makes an appearance as well!
On today's episode of Quiet Time, we discuss Big Jule's connection between spirituality and nature. We hope you enjoy this gentle episode of SLOOM.
Shout out to Barstool Sports for the starting question (https://www.barstoolsports.com/blog/3416453/reader-question-which-is-more-likely-to-happen-a-horse-wins-baseballs-triple-crown-or-a-human-wins-horse-racings-triple-crown). We then talk about our strengths and weaknesses in terms of video game power levels. Then, we move these definitions to discuss mindfulness. Finally, we talk about the need for society to move away from monoculture.
First, we discuss some shared family history. Lucas and Big Jule's families just so happened to be on the same side of a few wars for independence! Next, we discuss the Toledo War (we don't like Ohio). Finally, we discuss our kits for some planned D&D sessions.
On today's episode of SLOOM, the boys sit down to break the norms of alcohol and discuss both the brewing process and how we can change it to get non-traditional brews. Fermented milk? Tomato wine? Mountain Dew? Glycogen from chicken? If it has sugar, it can be fermented! We also discuss our plan to ferment the food pyramid.
Today, we take things back a notch and have some quiet time with Big Jule. The focus of today's quiet time is Mindfulness and Fitness. Enjoy a break from our otherwise complicated, convoluted, and chaotic episodes.
On this episode of Sam's Review, we sample the Bunratty Meade, a pyment that is rated to be 14.7%. We talk about the mead, as well as Sam's context to Kalamazoo College. We also discuss plans for a future episode, the fabled charcuterie episode...
For today's episode of the podcast, we bring on Derik to discuss some math and CS stuff. My name is Lucas and I believe that peacocks would taste wonderful! Listen to more episodes on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and More!
In today's episode of the podcast, we brought Patrick on to talk some physics and biology. We briefly discuss what energy is and some recent advancements in it. We also talked with Juul about his thoughts on the idea of spiritual "energy". Finally, as a long time listener of the podcast, Patrick offered up his thoughts in regards to an old episode of ours. Check out more of our episodes on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and more!
We decide to return to our roots and discuss some STEM content. But first! We talk about some of our inspirations behind Samwise and the story that we want to tell. Dear reader, the name of the greek god that Lucas was looking for is "Priapus". Listen to more on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and more! Listen to Justin's new album here
In this episode of SLOOM, the boys let their brains take control over the topics. We talk about Pokemon, Socialism, Improving Ads, and Skylar begins his revolution against Lucas' control over the ads. Check out more on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or more!
Sam and Lucas take today to discuss the meanings of words. What does linguistics have to day about contexts providing more information to our words? Should future models of language focus on intended meanings through contexts or predefined, strict meanings? How should a computer interpret sounds not understood in language? Can they be completely ignored, or do they have meanings that are relevant? Find out more by listening!
Alright I'm going to be honest: we saved the best for last here. Lucas relays the story of his drunk purchases. Sam talks about his friend at the bar. Justin remembers he's at the podcast. Fun fact! Sam has used his hand to wipe his ass multiple times and reportedly would do it again! We discuss the meta-game surrounding ass-wiping in order to show Sam he is a bad, wrong person. We also talk more about colonialism because it's relevant to address it while talking about this. To be honest, you could probably skip part 1, it's mostly just the lore.
Lucas decided it would be a good idea to bring SLOOMS1E2 (the second episode of SLOOM) out of the vault. I don't know why. Enjoy this mess. Juleon makes his first appearance on SLOOM to talk about esoteric computer languages and super tasks. Have you ever wanted to code in a language where you can only use blank spaces? Could you complete an infinite number of tasks within a finite amount of time? Listen to find out!
Lucas and Sam sit down to discuss Sam's summer journey to Tanzania. Lucas compares some of his stories with that from a time he went to Germany. We discuss the first times feeling foreign to those around us, colonialism, and more! Shout out to those that read the description! I wrote this one for you! I love you!
A NEW SERIES FROM SLOOM: AN IMMORTAL BEING PONDERS CONVOLUTED HUMAN NOTIONS OF DEATH, TIME, AND EXISTENCE. LISTEN TO THE THOUGHTS OF SAMWISE THE SULLEN.
Lucas is an idiot! Thankfully, he found the first episode of Sam's review! This episode, the boys (minus Jasper :( ) sit around and test the fruits of the labor of Stonehouse Brewing: The Blood of the All-Father and A.D.A.M.. Sam (here, the Intern) brings his intern, Moose, to help. Lucas tries to explain the brewing processes behind mead, beer, whiskey, and brandy.
FRESH FROM THE COVID LOCKDOWN VAULT: In this episode of SLOOM, we bring Skylar on to discuss Simulation Theory. We also debate the legitimacy and use of conspiracy theories. Is the universe around us just a simulation? Has Skylar been listening to too much Joe Rogan? Find out by listening to this episode!
Introducing: The first annual summer guest host episode! Content warning: we will discuss suicide in this episode. French philosopher Albert Camus established the philosophy of "The Absurd" with his works Le Mythe de Sisyphe, Le Peste, and L'Etranger. With guests Nick and Emily, we explore some of our questions that he poses and discuss The Absurd in relation to our personal philosophies. Check out more from SLOOM with the links below:
