Description

Many politicians like to refer to the opinions of “the American people” as if we are some monolithic group, and we all agree with the speaker; obviously neither are true. A more reality-based discussion would recognize and respect that we are 300+ million people with different experiences, perspectives, and opinions. Towards that end I speak with SOME AMERICAN PEOPLE about what they think are the three most important issues in our country today, how well our elected leaders are addressing those issues, and what they, and we, could be doing better.

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma June 16, 2024 Clarence In the first half of my conversation with Clarence I made reference to a Supreme Court case, but could not recall the name of it. The name of that case is Citizens United v. Federal Elections Commission (2010), commonly referred to as simply Citizens United. Clarence also made reference to the "Great Law of Peace". We did not discuss this at the time, but from my subsequent and cursory research I found that this was an agreement, or Constitution, among the five (later six) previously warring Iroquois nations to form the Iroquois Confederacy. Many consider this to be a basis for, or at least a major influence on, our U.S. Constitution. In 1988 Congress passed a resolution to recognize this influence, although there is less than 100% consensus among scholars and historians on this point. As always it's a good idea to do your own research.
