Episode 129 : Raiders of the Kenner Arks

We’re bringing out the big guns in this months feature interview, as Rich talks to super-collectors Ron Salvatore and Chris Fawcett about the early days of collecting Star Wars, and their pioneering work uncovering lost Kenner treasures. In the intro section, the lads look back on San Diego Comic Con - did it deliver on Star Wars content, or is Disney holding back for D23?  There’s a quick canter through our new acquisitions, and Action Country Face-Off takes in India, Poland, Denmark and Ireland.  Spoons gets quizzical with questions on our past guests, and in New Acquisitions, the team picks their favourite finds from the collecting world, including comic bounty hunters, a McDonalds holograph, an empty crisp packet, Wonder Woman and the droids on record, and an X-wing with a rather special instruction sheet. In Rebel Briefings the boys discuss a handy auction result, a new Kenner book, a special Speeder Bike box, the Falcon on Concorde, recording rare records, future Retro, and AT-AT batteries.  Licensee this month is Thomas Forman, a British company with a long history in publishing, and a short chapter in Star Wars calendar production. Join us for copious Star Wars chat, with plenty of laughs and banter along the way. Look out for the podcast in all the usual places.

Episode 128: The Ki-Fighter Co-pilot

Episode 127 - The Ki-Fighter Co-Pilot Welcome back to the Vintage Rebellion Podcast! No, we don’t understand the title either, you’ll have to ask Rich. Joining us this month is Jerry Hancock who takes us on a journey through Star Wars collecting and the impact it has had on his life. In a packed show, the lads lead off with their thoughts on the Mandalorian & Grogu movie. Good, bad or ugly? You’ll have to listen and find out.  There’s a canter through the team’s new finds, and in Action Country Face-Off we visit the Star Wars offerings from Netherlands, Russia, Peru and Puerto Rico.   Andy P hosts a quiz for years and years, and there’s an international flavour to New Acquisitions as we find Han Solo and cakes from France, Droids Fett and a snowy badge from the USA, and a poster from, er, Woolworths. In Rebel Briefings the team discuss offerings from the Saga Vault, the Star Wars He-Man connection, looking back to young Lucas and forward to Thank the Maker, and anticipate Echo Live.  The Licensee section looks at Aqua Fun, an Aussie manufacturer of inflatable swim aids. Episode 127 : A New Hope for the Hobby

And now for something completely different. This month, we’re proud to present a special show focussing on assistance for newcomers to the hobby, but hopefully, we have helpful nuggets of advice for all listeners. We’ll look at what you can collect, where to find it, pro’s and con’s of the various marketplaces, how to spot repro (and why), options for display, and a lot more besides. Special guest interviewee this month is Wayne Richards, a collector who had the toys in the 70s and 80s, but as an adult collector, he’s only been back in the game for about a year. He tells Andy P about his collecting journey, his growing collection, and a few lessons learned along the way.    Elsewhere, the lads chat about how they got back into collecting themselves, discuss their latest pick-ups, and Face-Off in Argentina, New Zealand, Japan and France.  Rich hosts this months quiz, impartial as ever, and the lads look at the latest and greatest finds from the collecting world - a Harbert Yoda, a Mexican record, Brazilian Model Trems, Star Wars Vans, and a radio press kit. In Rebel Briefings we celebrate in Cincinnati, wonder Y wings, get retro with Jeroen, discuss dodgy die-cast, ask whether Rebel Transports are poo, hear about Heritage hi-jinks, celebrate Celebration, and look at Topps prices paid. No Licensee this month as we just couldn’t fit it into such a packed show!  Find the podcast in all the usual places.

Episode 126 : Smith Snootles and The Mags Rebo Band

Special guest interviewee this month is Craig Smith, joining Pete to tell all about his pre 1980s Star Wars collecting. Elsewhere the lads indulge in a little fantasy theme park fun, tell all about their latest finds with even Richard picking something up this month, and go international as Face-Off heads to Spain, Canada, Mexico and, err, Indonesia. Andy Preston takes the reigns as quizmaster, and the team picks the best new acquisitions from around the world, with a DT Ben, an prototype poster, a Vader / Chewie mix-up, soapy Star Wars and Italian stationery. In Rebel Briefings the boys look back at Live, selling See Threepio, modelling on Endor, Maul on telly, Japanese rocket robots, Vic Reeves paintwork, and Youngie Oldie Yoda. Licensee this month is Kenner’s pre-school range, from Star Tots to talking telephones, and all things Ewok - Fire Cart, Family Hut, Woodland Wagon and more. A lesser known, and - maybe - under rated line? Find out more on the podcast! Plenty of bluster and banter alongside, you can find the podcast in all the usual places.

Episode 125 : Drewpy McCool or Tegg Fromm? You decide with Star Wars puns

Consternation in TVR studios this month! Host Richard couldn’t decide between two puns on the name of special guest interviewee Drew Tegg, so he went with both. Which is best? You decide! Drew is the owner of Collector Displays, building premium quality display cabinets for collectors. We hear about how Star Wars inspires both his collecting and his business. In the Intro section, the lads look forward to a new Star Wars movie that’s apparently coming out in a few weeks time, and wonder why it’s getting so little publicity. Moving swiftly on there’s a run down of our new acquisitions, an educational Action Country Face-Off, an entertaining quiz from Pete, and a look at the best finds of the month from around the collecting world, including Slim Sticks, Konga Cola, Palitoy proofs, a Stormtrooper you can’t miss, and a BBQ restaurant button. In Rebel Briefings we welcome Tom Derby back to the collecting world, report on Echo Base Live, welcome a wonderful Palitoy book from Brian Hickey and look forward to a re-issue from Bob Brechin, anticipate a Fun day in Blackburn, and check out a Kenobi Blank Back Proof. Coming in like a rocket is our Licensee this month, Estes, which produced a range of flying model rockets for Star Wars and Empire. Shooting for the stars, or going out with a bang? Listen and find out! All this along with the usual stuff and nonsense, look out for the podcast in the usual places.
