D'Alesandro III might have had close ties to Nicholas Mangione, the grandfather of the alleged shooter, Luigi Mangione. The Pelosis also had a large investment in UnitedHealth Group. The conspiracy theory argues that UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was set to testify before Congress and might have thrown the Pelosis under the bus.
