Our mindset is often times referred to our perception toward things in our life, or “the stories we tell ourselves.”  While it may seem subtle and unconscious to many, we do have control over our mindset. The trick is to have enough awareness about your beliefs, and perceptions to know what impact your mindset might be having on the quality of your health.
Today, I’m speaking with Nurse Dee-Lynn Mason. As I said in Episode 70, 5 Tips To Stay Grounded During Difficult Times, I intended to interview some nurses to hear their stories - which is why we have Dee-Lynn with us today. I also want to apologize for the sound quality. We had glitches during the recording that could not be edited afterwards. I hope you stay right to the end anyways because Nurse Dee's got a message you all want to hear, regardless of technical glitches.  Guest Spotlight: Dee-Lynn Mason RN is a new-to-practice nurse. As an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN),  with 15 years of demonstrated history of working in the field of nursing, she decided to return to school to complete her RN degree. Her current work as an RN in agency has supported her at developing her skills in many areas of nursing practice. Today, she continues to work with agency while integrating into her new role as a full-time Labor & Delivery Nurse.

Today, in Satori Radio,  I'm speaking with Nurse Writer Christy Book, who is definitely leading the field of health and wellness as a nurse writer with nurse.org. She shares with us some of the ways that she remains grounded during these challenging times. In order for Christy to stay grounded as a busy health professional, she maintains balance through prayer, meditation, time with family and always holds her best friend close.  She also shares with us the value of being a creative entrepreneur. I think you'll find her to be an inspiring role model to future nurses, and those newer to the profession, as they carve their path in the nursing profession. Moving forward in life can become challenging and we don't know where to turn to, or how to move forward. Every moment of our lives, we're developing our story. The people we meet on a daily basis, and the obstacles we face along the way, all play a part in the story of our lives. As we review these interactions, our internal scenery creates our story. If you want to change your life, you need to write a new story - one that's in greater alignment with your stage of life.
Wellness programs that support staff at being healthy, inside and outside the work environment, help them live balanced lives. Generally speaking, when a hospital can embrace a wellness program that's backed by coaching, mindset training and personal development, the entire work environment and culture grows (see Episode 45). Head over to the show notes here and you can find out more details about how Satori can help your hospital become a leader in health and wellness.
Here’s the thing about the profession of nursing, it’s amazing. But as amazing as it is, one needs to make positive choices through the day to keep it that way! It’s also socially acceptable to not place a high priority on personal satisfaction. All of this is slowly changing, however.  Head over to the shownotes where you'll find other relevant articles on mindfulness, health, coaching and mindset training.  You can also find-out about our next mantra-style meditation group here.
Nurturing your relationship with food can lead to forming new states of mind and can also improve how you treat food in your life.  This can enhance your own relationship with your "self". Having a good relationship with food won't  happen instantly. It takes time, intention and reflection.
