Description
The School of Leadership and Madness is a production of Deployed From Detroit. DFD is a US Veteran owned and operated non-profit that is dedicated to buttressing local communities' capabilities in communication, education, and the development of experience. DFD/SLM is a raw cut Livestream experience with few produced pieces to date. In accordance with the missions of Deployed From Detroit, the School of Leadership and Madness can be graphic and jarring or a hint boring, it all depends on the topic. Each presenter is a Veteran or close friend of a Veteran and Veterans alike, each is allowed to speak as they will and we just see what happens from there. Covering comprehensive leadership instruction that can help you lead your teams through this sh** show, or leadership skills have been tested and are good enough to get you started. We go into detail about dealing with mental health, what it looks like, and some aspects of how it works. We also discuss movies, poetry, politics, suicide, PTSD, addiction, and just about everything under the sun. Leading people means knowing people, and fixing crazy means knowing yourself. It turns out that's a pretty broad range of topics. Our apologies to any recruiters, we're sure you can "yeah, but" the good ones back to ya. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times - so says the old man, so say us who missed Valhalla; who once feasted at Valhalla. Victory Through Peace. Kindness At All Costs.

For being so short, hate is a big word. What's it mean? Where does it come from? What can we do about it?
Suicide is difficult to talk about because it hurts and it shocks. It doesn't have to hurt as much, and that comes when it's less shocking. I said that to say this: It's hard, but let's start making it a little easier.

This turned into a bit of a shit show. We did make our way through some interesting topics but between technical difficulties and getting too jacked up - this is what crazy looks like when it trys not to look crazy. Victory Through Peace. Kindness At All Costs.

Army Steve joins Air Force Steve and Iggy for the first time on the show. We'll get to know a little bit about Steve as a Tanker (boom kind, not boom op kind) and now he's dipping his toe into pornography...sorry that's supposed to say "Online Debates."

Escaping the cycles of suffering that define us is so difficult that they had to invent Buddhism. Now, somehow we expect you to do it.

We may be informed by experience, but that does not give us the right to pretend we speak on behalf of anyone other than ourselves and The School of Leadership and Madness. So we don't. We're broken toy soldiers trying to glue ourselves back together. We will fail and we will say crazy things. Change your lives, YES. But do not do it based on a YouTube video you stumbled upon. Do it because you already knew. Get counsel, seek allies, make friends. We can ramble into cameras - they can help you. If you have no friends or allies, you haven't met them yet. Do great things, but never because we told you to. Do them when you know it's time and you're ready.

No one told us working for Uncle Sam would suck so much. Don't get me wrong - it was awesome - but when it sucks, it sucks.

I'm not going to kill myself, but I've sure put some thought into it. If you're thinking about killing yourself, I'll bet you no one has sat you down to explain why. Why does the thought creep in? Why does it last? How do you get rid of it? Let's give it a shot
