The Athletic's Senior NFL Insider, Dianna Russini, shares the latest information from the contract discussions between star defensive end Trey Hendrickson and the Cincinnati Bengals. On Monday morning, Hendrickson and his camp released a statement to ESPN saying in part, "No communication has taken place between my camp and the organization post draft." Dianna reports that the Bengals feel like things have moved in a positive direction and there's still hope to agree with Hendrickson on a new contract.Elsewhere around the league, over the weekend, New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr abruptly retired. Carr cited a degenerative change in an injury to his rotator cuff. Earlier this offseason, it was reported that Carr was considering undergoing surgery that would require him to miss the 2025 season. Carr gives up a $30 million fully-guaranteed base salary, but will keep the $10 million roster bonus he earned in March. It was also reported that the Saints will not seek to recover any of the $28.5 million signing bonus he made in 2023.
