Welcome to the family business. Hunter Hunterson and his kin live in Slayerville, KY, making their living chasing crack-smoking ogres, peeping-tom phantoms, bail-jumping zombie pimps and the occasional rabid unicorn. When a methed-out vampire (and family friend) goes on a road-trip rampage, Hunter and his kin pack up the truck and follow the trail of corpses all the way to San Francisco. This reality-TV style story feels like a combination of “Dog the Bounty Hunter” meets “Ghostbusters” meets “The Beverly Hillbillies.” Hunter’s “war journal” is a mix of tawdry laughs and gut-churning horror. Episode 4 - "Red Man"

To be marked as a sex offender, a pedophile, a child rapist, is to carry stigma that all but banishes you from society. And if that mark is literal -- a permanent, inoperable face tattoo -- anonymity vanishes, and all who see you know of your crime. For a man who is wrongly convicted of horrible deeds, this mark becomes his life. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Nature abhors a vacuum. One such vacuum exists in the “urban ecologies” of our cities. From bacteria to insects, from rodents to hawks, from feral cats to the mass numbers of pigeons, plants and animals weave together a web of life that goes mostly unnoticed by humans. We’re off to see ROGUE ONE, and to celebrate, let’s talk Star Wars Smack! It’s Friday the 13th, so what else would we cover but FRIDAY THE 13TH? The original, people, not a remake, not a reboot, not a sequel, but the carnage-fest that started a billion-dollar franchise. A first-generation slasher film that created many copies, this horror classic is slathered with the blood of horror movie history. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Yes, 2016 generated an all-time high in box office revenue, but when you adjust for inflation how successful was it, really? Is Hollywood heading for a major crash, a-la the music business of the 90s and the publishing biz of the oughts? We cover that in this episode, as well as: What were the Top-10 highest-grossing films of 2016? The influence of Chinese investors and the Chinese government on Hollywood. What year set the record for attendance, not for revenue? Why it’s better to root for the Dark Side. The evil that is Herbie the Love Bug. Learn more about your ad choices. This week Scott and A discuss the RESIDENT EVIL franchise. We talk about all five movies currently available for at-home viewing, and our experience marathoning them this month. It’s been a wild ride, and we’re excited to go see Resident Evil: The Final Chapter this weekend! Even if you’re not into these games or these movies, the success of these films can’t be ignored. And, honestly, they’re better than you might think at first. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Yes, 2016 saw some serious coinage being tossed about Hollywood in a festive manner. But which of those obscenely bloated budgets was the biggest and girthiest? And did those huge expenditures result in equally huge profits? Your FDØ and ARealGirl get into the numbers game on this week’s StorySmack. Learn more about your ad choices. SLAY Season 1: It's a fun romp, if you like bounty hunters, contract killers, drug dealers, and magic. And, as it turns out, I do! Also, how the episodes were created is something of interest as well.

Loved the GFL series but his books have become predictable and he makes snarky political comments at the beginning of each cast. It gets really old really fast.

I'm listening to Mt.Saint Roy right now and let me tell you I had to fight myself to hit pause on the Audible app to come here and listen to this episode. It must stuck to be such an awesome Dark Overlord that your minions have to fight their own selves to decide which of your masterpieces to listen to futon moment to moment! LOVE Mt. Saint Roy!!!!!! thank you so much for this long awaited sequel.

Scott and A this is absolutely amazeballs! I cannot believe that I am listening to one of the GFL series like this, a dream come true. I've been listening to you since I feel like I was a young kid I'm 54 now so I guess that can't be completely true but it's been a long time my D.O. Listening to that throwback really made me feel my oats. I don't know if you know sometimes what you really do for people Scott. Maybe you do maybe that's why you do it. Can't be all about money cuz I'm pretty sure you probably make money from your books selling. S*** you sure as hell aren't making it giving s*** away well maybe indirectly. I like to think after all these years I know a little bit about you and I don't think you're giving it away for the money. 🤔 maybe that's just the old man being nostalgic. Either way I fucking love you man!
