Scottsdale Serve Squad

2025-11-2419:07

This week on Scottsdale Vibes, we're shining a spotlight on a grassroots group that's quietly making an impact across our city.  Raquel Diehm joins me to share the story behind Scottsdale Serve Squad, a community-led movement that's serving our neighbors with compassion, connection, and heart. Today, we're talking about an uplifting community effort… happening right here in our backyard: the Scottsdale Serve Squad. If you follow them on Instagram, you've probably seen the photos of volunteers handing out water, snacks, blankets, hygiene kits… simple but meaningful items that bring comfort to people who need it most. But what makes this group special isn't just what they hand out. It's how they show up… with presence, kindness, and a message that every person is seen and valued. And at the heart of it all is founder Raquel Diehm, who started this movement after seeing a need in our community and refusing to look away. Today she's here to share how Serve Squad began, how it's grown, and how you can get involved. Today on Scottsdale Vibes, we're shining a light on women who are making real change in our community. I'm joined by Kira Peters and Holly Amend from The Women's Collective to talk about their mission to elevate women leaders - and their upcoming Night Run: Sunset 5K for Charity that helps make it all happen.   But First , The Scottsdale housing market is always changing, and no one keeps a closer eye on it than local realtor Shawn Shackelton.    She's here to share what's happening in the market right now, which neighborhoods are heating up, and how new developments are impacting property values across Scottsdale.   In 2018, five women came together with a vision: to help more women rise into executive leadership roles. That vision has grown into The Women's Collective - a dynamic, all-volunteer nonprofit built on connection, mentorship, and empowerment. Through their programs and fundraising, The WC has awarded nearly $100,000 in grants to local organizations that help women advance in leadership and achieve their goals. And now, they're inviting the community to lace up their running shoes and join them for The Night Run: Sunset 5K for Charity, happening November 8th along the Arizona Canal in Scottsdale. It's a family-friendly evening of fitness, fun, and philanthropy - and every step supports The Women's Collective's mission to inspire and elevate women leaders right here in our community. This Labor Day Weekend, Scottsdale is trading palm trees for cowboy hats as the Arizona Invitational Black Rodeo rides into town on August 29th and 30th. This isn't your ordinary rodeo—it's two days packed with bull riding, barrel racing, roping events, mutton bustin', and a whole lot of grit, grit, and more grit.  But beyond the excitement in the arena, this event also shines a spotlight on the history and contributions of Black cowboys and cowgirls, making it a celebration that's as educational as it is entertaining. Joining me today is Lanette Campbell, the driving force behind the event, to talk about what makes this rodeo such a unique experience for Scottsdale and the Southwest.
