History consists of heroes and villains (and, I suppose everything in between)... but it's usually the villains who are the most interesting: Their flaws, their quirks, the voids in their hearts that force them to do the unthinkable. These are the characters that fascinate us, that pull us in, that compel us to watch and don’t let us look away. And these are the characters that Scoundrel: History’s Forgotten Villains is all about.
Scoundrel, is a new bi-weekly anthology podcast from Kast Media and the award winning creators of Myths & Legends, that tells the stories of the rapscallions through time who were just a little more adept at hiding their evil from historians than others. By joining them on their treacherous journeys, we not only learn about what makes them tick, but more importantly, the times that created them.
Sidney Gottlieb, George Remus, Thomas Blood, James McClintock. They’ve all done horrible things...on varying scales. If there’s anything we can salvage from their misdeeds and incalculable human suffering, it’s the opportunity to use them to elucidate the times they’ve lived… so that we can better understand ourselves.
I love your podcast so freaking much... 😍😍👌🏻👌🏻
I want to like this podcast because I love Myths & Legends, Fictional, and their other works. However, I just can't get behind the unbiased storytelling here. Every, and I mean EVERY female scoundrel at this point is just "a victim of her time". But the men are just painted as terrible people. Even in the Belle Gunness episode they painted her as the victim. A literal serial killer, of not just strangers but her family as well, was painted as a "victim". I understand that these are stories from a different time in history where women were treated far more poorly than today and I am a firm believer in feminism... but this is just getting out of hand with the "evil men & evil society" schtick. Good people are good and do good things. Bad people are bad and do bad things. There ARE bad people out there who are bad people because they are victims of their time, it's true. However, not every female Scoundrel is a victim.
Good! But some guys you talk about aren’t really villains
did they forget the entire premise of the podcast? it seems they're ready to go to bat for her because of feminism.
every male scoundrel: life choices and evil characters. every female scoundrel: a victim of her circumstance.
How about an episode on the merchant of death. The arms dealer that they based the movie Lord of war on.
I can’t with this one….
how about Poolan Devi - the Indian bandit queen ...she may or may not be a scoundrel ... depends on your point of view.
I know this podcast says it's best to share facts and tell the truth. but I would direct you to look into scopolamine it is puffer fish poison. and supposedly can turn individuals into mindless automatons for lack of a better term. there is footage of people helping carry all their furniture out of their apartments into loading vans or going up to ATMs with their cards to empty out their bank accounts only to wake up with no memory of having done those things. so when you say there's no drug that can make people blah blah blah I think there may actually be one now
Whew, the victim mentality on this one…..
Fascinating subject material. Also i love the storytelling angle. Please keep the episodes coming!
this is just crazy.... 😆
remembered hearing about this on criminal https://thisiscriminal.com/episode-151-the-many-lives-of-michael-malloy-11-6-2020/
Reversed over him "for posterity".....(meaning "for future generations") How hard is it to Google the meaning of something? I am quite sure they drove over Iron Mike a second time "for good measure" or "to be sure", not for any one's Descendants!
