Nice! This approach just completely flipped my perception and understanding of Genesis 22. For me (and I suspect for a handful of others too) this has always been a cruel, cynical and nonsensical story best ignored. But now I can see it as a truly beautiful story, a captivating story... and a deeply profound story. All from just slowing down to fill the gaps! Thank you :-)
Dr. Bill Creasy, I recently discovered your podcast and renewed my love for God's Word. I have faith I'll stick with it this time, especially with the advent of podcasts such as yours, I have no excuse why I can't hear and delight in God's Word, for I can listen to it all day, everyday for my job allows for it. That being said, I have a question that I think you can help me answer and rectify. I used to use this to disprove parts of the Bible for I was only a Gospel believer. My thoughts have changed, but the question remains. Paul defines love in Corinthians as "not being jealous". Many other parts pf The Holy Bible make the claim that God Himself is Love. One of the 10 Commandments states "Though shalt have no other gods before Me, for I am a jealous God"....How can that be? How can God be love itself and jealous if the definition of love is "not jealous". I used to present this conundrum as a smartass way to difute the Old Testament.
