You will love listening to today’s guest on the Second Wind Podcast. She believes our soul's purpose needs to be addressed and met here and that's why she is doing what she’s doing. She is a very selfless person and has some very definite feelings about death and our life and our soul. I appreciate what she does and for being on the show. This guest is Star Bradbury. Star is a senior living expert who has given thousands of families the education and information needed to navigate the complex world of senior Healthcare. She has been working with seniors for over 25 years and as the founder of Senior Living Strategies, she regularly collaborates and consults with individuals and families from all walks of life as well as professionals in the legal, medical, financial, and long-term care insurance world. Her 18 years working with a nationally recognized Life Care Community allows her to share her expertise in this otherwise confusing and complex senior living option as well. Her new book, “Successfully Navigating Your Parents’ Senior Years” started as an outline that came to her in a dream. There was a different intended title called “Your Parents Don't Wanna Live with You Either” which I thought was hysterical and really on point. Star has 72 accumulative years, which has gotten her to the point where she has said she is not afraid of intense personal growth. John Scott Leeward has a remarkable pre-second wind of his life. It includes an extensive background in television and movies, both onscreen and behind the scenes with his unique camera company. He has done all this while embarking on successful and long-running entrepreneurial ventures. At age 68, John decided to put all that glitz and glamor off to the side. He chose to pursue what has been tugging at his heartstrings all his life. John knew it was time to listen to what he believes his purpose is. He discovered and honed in on the Six Universal Human Needs. These significantly rule over how we as humans show up in the world, not only for ourselves but for others. These life lessons bring us to where we are and how we choose one path versus the other. In today’s episode, John shows us that this is what’s important. He will teach us that it's a gift to be able to do something with our life’s path to serve others. Heal your body and mind with RYZE mushroom coffee. Click here to get started! Imagine leaving the comforts the corporate world can provide to find and do something greater than yourself. You can find purpose and fulfillment in helping others through dedication, compassion, and having a good heart. Today’s guest has done just that. He is a gentleman I have known for years from the cycling world. I always wondered, “how is he involved in all these things?!” while smiling and making great connections. Chris Doane is a Branding and Digital Marketing Director who found his sense of urgency growing as he approached age 40. He believes that we are all born blessed in some way. He feels strongly that if we're not using those blessings to make a positive impact around us, we are wasting something that is God-given. To this day, he continues to be blessed with a lot of energy to serve his purpose. Through his volunteering at many cycling-based programs, Chris teaches others that the things that seem to cause so much anxiety in life will take a back seat when one's energy goes toward service. He believes that peace and personal satisfaction with life come through embracing a purpose and being relentless about fulfilling it. He also motivates people to ‘keep showing up’ and continue to pursue their interests, regardless of anyone's looking or recognizing them. Listen to Chris’ story of why he's chosen to go the path he has. Heal your body and mind with RYZE mushroom coffee. Click here to get started! Visit secondwindthepodcast.com for full show notes. Today’s guest is Suzanne Conti, a woman who was 45 years in the science lab and has since started a thriving private chef business called The Farmer Can Cook. I can attest it is flipping delicious! I have ordered amazing dishes from there and will continue to do so. There is way more to her story than a woman who went from the lab to cooking. She lived in an RV with her husband and planted her orchard. She has gone up against the state pest regulation of South Carolina and won and does not want glyphosate and other pesticides on her vegetables and herbs. She's a grandmother like me and just turned 66 with her own private chef business. With determination and intuition, she skipped retirement and kept moving forward in her second wind. We are very excited to bring to you today’s guest, Lynn Power. She is an extraordinary woman, like all of the women we bring on Second Wind. However, Lynn is extraordinary in every sense of the word. She is a wife and a mother, an entrepreneur of brands such as Isle de Nature, and her newest brand of clean and direct-to-consumer hair care products called MASAMI. Lynn has been a marketing expert for over 30 years working her way from the receptionist to the boardroom. And she's worked with many brand-name companies, like Clinique, Estee Lauder, and Naima Products, just to name a few. She has left her as CEO of an iconic advertising agency named Jay Walter Thompson, New York. And in retrospect, she is finding her second wind when she decided to give her notice. And the story that has come since then is remarkable. What many people might not know is that Lynn is a recent cancer survivor. She was given the news and the treatment for an aggressive form of cancer while embarking on her new journey with MASAMI during the pandemic. It all happened like it was the perfect storm! People are not aware of what modern medicine wants to hide from us. We don’t know or understand many aspects of how energy is made and only have a simple biology class picture of our health and wellness. What is this big secret? In today’s episode, you will find out how amazing the truth is once you start to pick at the research and the tremendous insights that begin to come forward. Today’s guest is Morley Robbins, MBA, CHC aka “The Magnesium Man” and he is the creator and founder of The Root Cause Protocol and the Magnesium Advocacy Group. His journey began from being sick of being sick. Morley had been working in mainstream medicine as a hospital executive and consultant for 32 years but he left the world of hospital administration and dove deep down the rabbit hole of real healing. In July 2009, Morley discovered magnesium upon reading Carolyn Dean’s book “The Magnesium Miracle”. He realized that this was a key piece of the whole health puzzle that virtually no practitioners seemed to be aware of. He was captivated by this mineral and went on to realize that magnesium plays a role in all metabolic systems, and is therefore a contributing factor to nearly all major health issues. Today, Morley views it as his life’s work to push back the tides of nutritional insanity and magnesium deficiency in the day-to-day lives of folks who want to feel better. Grief is a real part of being human. If that is the reality, how come we tend to be “grief illiterate” when providing support for those going through loss? We all have experienced some sort of loss or grief, but it is still a topic we don't discuss.Today’s guest is Lisa Keefauver, MSW, a social worker, and widow turned grief activist. She has faced unthinkable tragedy from a young age and since then has helped open the field of grief discussion. A speaker, a podcaster, a professor, a writer, and a really cool woman, Lisa jumped into this important subject matter knowing that her whole life has brought her to this.I found her podcast called “Grief Is a Sneaky Bitch” and I knew I needed to listen to Lisa and invite her to The Second Wind podcast. I also wanted to bring support to the honest and authentic discussion of grief and how to bring that same support to others going through the process of trauma and loss. When my daughter was about to get married, we wisely thought that we probably needed help. Especially for those not-so-pleasant moments like water pipes breaking, a missing photographer, or an emotional outburst or two. The much-needed guidance we got was from today’s guest, Jennifer Lackey of Storybook Weddings.Jennifer did a fabulous job on my daughter’s wedding and it is no wonder that her wedding planner business has been a leader in Atlanta since opening in 1998. She also helps keep the chaos of weddings including family drama in line. All of this “is to make you and your closest family and friends feel like guests at your own wedding.”Perhaps you have your own children who are getting married or maybe you’re getting married for a second time, so I thought it’s a great subject to talk about. “Be who you are, say what you feel. Those who mind don't matter. And those who matter don't mind” by Dr.Seuss is a little quote I keep on my kitchen window sill that my friend, Amy Anderson, gave me as a gift many years ago. We met 16 years ago at beginner tennis lessons for adults, and we hit it off like we had known each other forever. From then on we have done a bunch of stuff together like chatting on the Second Wind podcast.Today’s guest is Amy, who is that friend that reminds you there's more to consider than the everyday life of mom and wife duties. She shows us that it is not just what you see on the surface, there's more to life than that. Amy pushes herself to live a semi-nomadic life of spirituality and health while asking questions like why are we here? Her life choices of self-compassion have helped her heal and understand life’s ups and downs like divorce and an unhealthy upbringing. Her gutsy lifestyle pushed me on my path to questioning life and looking for answers and being curious about my purpose. She makes us ask questions in order to figure out our lives. I thought, who better to have on this podcast than someone who is living the second wind journey every single day?Heal your body and mind with RYZE mushroom coffee.
