This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. “Heart of Nuba” is a critically acclaimed film documenting in microcosm the horrific – but largely unremarked – outrage of our time: the brutal persecution of an estimated 215 million Christians around the world. The film reveals the plight of the people of the Nuba Mountains in Sudan and American Dr. Tom Catena who has, for over a decade, been heroically caring for these latest victims of genocidal attacks by the Sharia-supremacist Sudanese government of Omar al-Bashir. There’s a screening of Heart of Nuba in Washington, D.C. tonight. It would be good if former House Speaker John Boehner would attend. He’s been paid handsomely to lobby on behalf of Sudan’s pariah dictator and indicted war criminal. The film’s director, Ken Carlson, will be taking questions. I am sure his audience would have a few as well for Bashir’s enabler, the erstwhile Speaker Boehner. This is Frank Gaffney.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Yesterday, Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu delivered what should be the death blow to the national security fraud John Kerry once acknowledged was nothing more than a “political understanding” with Iran. President Trump has long and properly denounced this Obamabomb deal as the worst one in history. Mr. Netanyahu disclosed that his country had managed to steal half-a-ton of secret Iranian materials documenting the mullahs’ nuclear weapons ambitions and covert programs. They prove, as he put it, Iran’s leaders have “lied, big time.” Apologists for the deal insist there’s nothing to see here folks, move along. President Trump knows better. It takes a special kind of stupid to believe that people proven to have lied in the past and taken extraordinary steps to hide their activities aren’t doing the same thing now. The Obamabomb deal enables that to continue, and must be terminated. This is Frank Gaffney.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. The “civilization jihad” is underway in Michigan. That’s the stealthy, subversive warfare the Muslim Brotherhood employs to “destroy Western civilization from within.” The Brotherhood and other Sharia-supremacists insinuate themselves and their influence operations into government, the media, schools, popular culture, businesses, other faith communities and politics. And anyone who notices – let alone objects – is slandered as an “Islamophobe” and bigot. That’s what happening at the moment to State Sen. Patrick Colbeck, who is running for Michigan governor in a crowded field that includes a suave doctor with unacknowledged ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, Abdul el-Sayed. And prominent figures on both sides of the political aisle are submitting to demands to denounce Sen. Colbeck and suppress his warnings. Such appeasement will intensify, not terminate the threat Sharia-supremacism poses to Michigan – and America, and must be opposed. This is Frank Gaffney. Learn the facts about Sharia-supremacism at SecureFreedom.org.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. The leftist elected leader of South Korea and North Korea’s megalomaniacal tyrant performed a highly choreographed diplomatic mating-dance today, touting unity on the Korean peninsula and setting the stage for President Donald Trump and the North’s Kim Jong-un to do the same. Unfortunately, South Korea’s Moon Jae-in seems to be seeking a separate peace with the North. That would legitimate, and help perpetuate the horrifyingly brutal North Korean regime. In the name of “unification,” the South seems set to restart on steroids an earlier, failed inter-Korean détente called the “Sunshine Policy.” That threatens the united front that has created real pressure on Kim actually to fulfill his promised elimination of North Korea’s nuclear arsenal. It could enable him to continue the brutal repression of his long-suffering people and undermine President Trump’s efforts to keep him from threatening the rest of us. This is Frank Gaffney.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Donald Trump ran for president against the political establishment in Washington. He memorably affirmed his hostility toward “the Swamp” during his inaugural address, infuriating its denizens arrayed on the Capitol stage behind him. The bipartisan establishment has been exacting its revenge ever since. The Senate has badly stalled most of Mr. Trump’s nominees. His “Wall” has gone unfunded. He has been saddled with bloated spending demanded by anti-Trump partisans. And the so-called “Deep State” has systematically impeded his policies and undermined his presidency. So, it should come as no surprise that a recent “Ear to the Ground Poll” indicates the public is furious with the congressional leadership. If there is any hope that Republicans will be able to run the next Congress, they must now offer new leadership aligned with, not determined to sabotage, President Trump’s efforts to make America great again. This is Frank Gaffney.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Historically, presidents of both parties have determined who can come to the United States. That’s because the Founders and Congress have wisely given the nation’s Chief Executive the authority to make that call. Donald Trump ran for the White House pledging to stop importing radical Islamic terrorists – an eminently sensible, necessary and very popular idea. To do so, President Trump decided to restrict immigration from failed and hostile majority Muslim nations – that had been recognized as problematic by Barack Obama – until a way can be found to differentiate obvious foes from potential friends. But Mr. Trump’s sensible and needed restrictions have been repeatedly countermanded by overreaching federal judges with their anti-constitutional rulings. The Supreme Court will review such judicial misconduct today – and must affirm the president’s unique authority to protect our country from would-be immigrants who wish us ill. This is Frank Gaffney.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. The United States is poised to have a new Secretary of State with the ability to be among our best. President Trump deserves great credit for nominating CIA Director Mike Pompeo to the job and for helping persuade the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s deciding vote, Republican Senator Rand Paul, to support him yesterday. Of course, the full Senate has to go along, too. But with Democratic Senators Heidi Heitkamp, Joe Manchin and Joe Donnelly announcing their support for Director Pompeo, it’s all over but the shouting. And shouting there may be since some Democrats have chosen to cloak their naked partisanship with loud condemnations of Mr. Pompeo’s informed and legitimate concerns about Sharia-supremacism – which he shares with President Trump. Ditto his robust national security-mindedness. It’s a very good thing such critics are in the minority in the Senate, and the country. This is Frank Gaffney.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. In 2016, the American people elected a President who promised to return to the practice Ronald Reagan called “peace through strength.” They were responding to the appalling failures of the Obama administration’s national security policies. Donald Trump’s victory was also a popular rejection of the prospect of more of the same under Mr. Obama’s first Secretary of State. Mr. Trump has now nominated Mike Pompeo as his second Secretary of State. His life experience as a top-of-his-class graduate of West Point and distinguished service as an Army officer and Director of the Central Intelligence Agency equips him brilliantly to pursue peace through strength. It would be regrettable if those who lost in 2016 cause such a man’s nomination to be spurned today in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Fortunately, it seems likely the full Senate will agree with the winner. This is Frank Gaffney.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Admiral Philip Davidson, who’s been nominated to lead U.S. forces in the Pacific, warned Congress this week that – short of war – the Chinese are now capable of controlling the strategic South China Sea. He added that there is “no guarantee” the United States would win such a war if it occurred. This ominous reality has been developing for decades, accelerated by the eight-year wrecking operation conducted by Barack Obama against the U.S. military, which coincided with and encouraged massive build-ups of Russia’s, as well as China’s, armed forces. And increasingly the stage is set for conflict in the Pacific, and beyond. This sure would be a good time to have a brilliant West Point graduate as America’s Secretary of State. Fortunately, North Dakota’s Sen. Heidi Heitkamp agrees and became the first Democrat to announce her support for Mike Pompeo’s nomination. Who’s next? This is Frank Gaffney.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. President Trump is engaged in the highest-stakes diplomacy since Ronald Reagan walked away from talks with Mikhail Gorbachev in Reykjavik, Iceland three decades ago. Yesterday, Mr. Trump commendably made clear that he, too, is prepared to abort his summit with North Korea’s dictator, Kim Jong-un. His decision will be informed by the intelligence collected and analyzed under the leadership of CIA Director Mike Pompeo – some of it obtained during his secret visit with Kim over Easter. Senate Democrats decry both North Korea’s nuclear threat and Mr. Trump’s bellicosity in countering it. So why would they jeopardize his diplomatic alternative by putting partisanship before national interests and blocking Mr. Pompeo’s confirmation as Secretary of State? That’s a particularly untenable stance for the 10 Democratic senators from states Trump carried who voted just last year to confirm Mr. Pompeo to his CIA job. This is Frank Gaffney.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Turkey is an ally no more. That’s the conclusion of a new book from the Center for Security Policy Press addressing the ominous transformation of a long-time secular Muslim nation and reliable member of NATO into an ever-more Sharia-supremacist, hostile and dangerous state. Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan seeks to become the next Caliph of a neo-Ottoman empire. He’s embracing U.S. adversaries like Russia, China and Iran. His forces have encircled, blacked out and menaced American troops stationed at Turkey’s Incirlik air base. And now they are threatening to launch attacks on our special forces units in Syria. Furthermore, Erdogan has harshly imprisoned an American Christian named Pastor Andrew Brunson – a microcosmic example of the enmity he has for us infidels and our country. We must stop pretending Erdogan’s Turkey is a friend. This is Frank Gaffney. Read Ally No More for free at SecureFreedom.org.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. President Trump recently blocked the takeover of an important American strategic asset by a potentially hostile entity. He must do it again, now. In March, Mr. Trump prevented Broadcom, a Singapore-based proxy for Communist China, from gaining control of its U.S. competitor, Qualcomm. Today, Gulftainer, a company based in the United Arab Emirates, is poised to take control of the strategically located port of Wilmington, Delaware. Unless the President intervenes on national security grounds, the Delaware General Assembly will approve this transaction on Thursday. Then a company that is co-owned by the family of Saddam Hussein’s nuclear bomb-maker and a joint-venturer with a Russian enterprise that conceals cruise missile launchers in shipping containers will be cleared to operate the Port of Wilmington. That company already runs Port Canaveral, Florida and Jacksonville, Galveston and Oakland are in its sights. Mr. Trump, Just say “No.” This is Frank Gaffney.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. This weekend’s elaborately choreographed, devastating and expensive aerial bombardment of Syria by the United States, Great Britain and France highlighted an alarming reality: The three facilities targeted represent just part of Syrian dictator Bashar Assad’s chemical weapons arsenal. And Assad’s arsenal likely pales compared to those of his allies: Russia, Iran and China. And none of them is supposed to exist. All four nations are parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention that we were told would “rid the world” of chemical arms. It turns out, the CWC only rid the Free World of the one proven means to prevent the use of these terrible weapons: the threat of in-kind retaliation. Faced with the present – and growing – danger posed by these weapons of mass destruction in the hands of unfree nations, the United States should reconsider its posture of unilateral chemical disarmament. This is Frank Gaffney.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.  The Port of Wilmington’s Board of Directors recently voted unanimously to turn over management of that strategically located facility to a billionaire Iraqi family named Jafar. One of its most prominent members is Dr. Jafar Dhai Jafar. Fifteen years ago, he was considered such a threat that U.S. troops liberating Iraq were directed to capture or kill him.  The reason why?  Jafar Jafar was Saddam Hussein’s nuclear bomb-maker.  The inadvisability of having the Jafars anywhere near an American port is further heightened by the fact that their company, Gulftainer, also has  partnered with Rostec, a Russian state-owned weapons and technology company that exports the Club-K Missile Launch System. That’s a cruise missile-launcher concealed in what looks like an ordinary shipping container. Fortunately, Rep. Duncan Hunter has urged President Trump to direct a national security review of this transaction.  Obviously, it’s long overdue.  This is Frank Gaffney.

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. House Speaker Paul Ryan’s announcement yesterday that he will not seek reelection offers congressional Republicans an opportunity to pull out of the political death-spiral that imperils their majority and invites the impeachment of President Trump.  The question is:  Will the House GOP seize the opportunity to excite and engage voters indispensable to such outcomes?  Or will it alienate them further, ensuring that the base stays home – with predictably devastating results? That choice will be determined by whether the Republican caucus tries to fob off on its base another establishment politician, presumably drawn from the ranks of Ryan’s lieutenants.  If, instead, in the days ahead the House GOP embraces as its next leader an authentic conservative with passion, energy and, most importantly, Make America Great Again principles, they will give the base a reason to turn out – and prevail.  Jim Jordan for Speaker. This is Frank Gaffney.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. President Trump wants to punish Bashar Assad’s regime for its alleged role in the latest, murderous chemical weapons attack against Syrian civilians. The temptation is to lash out with more tactical retaliation against military targets implicated in such operations. If successful, that would convey resolve and impose costs. The trouble is that, like the response itself, the signals thus sent – let alone the effects – are likely to be very short-lived.  Assad and his Russian, Iranian, Hezbollah and Turkish partners will discount such attacks, and perhaps even be emboldened by them. What is clearly required is a broader, more strategic and enduring response.  That could be conveyed by three initiatives: First, provide military and political assistance to the Kurds in the region. Second, support Israel as it defends its vital interests – and ours – in Syria. Third, treat Turkey as an ally no more. This is Frank Gaffney.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Last night, Fox News host Laura Ingraham issued a powerful warning about how some Americans are steadily losing the freedom of speech. Specifically, she described what amounts to the censoring of conservatives by giant Internet companies that long ago lost any claim to being neutral purveyors of information. Ms. Ingraham’s show aired on the eve of a double-feature appearance by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg on Capitol Hill, starting today.  Facebook is one of the most aggressive perpetrators of the selective dissemination of information to disadvantage those on the Right, while favoring Leftists and their Sharia-supremacist allies. Most legislators are single-mindedly focused on another Facebook scandal – one that involves that company’s business model built on deliberately abusing customers’ privacy.  No less ominous are politicized corporate restrictions on speech, and Zuckerberg must also be held accountable for imposing them. This is Frank Gaffney.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.  With John Bolton’s installation today as the President’s new National Security Advisor, Donald Trump has taken a huge stride toward putting in place a team to help him protect our country against all enemies, foreign and domestic.  Arguably, the most insidious of such enemies – whom he explicitly promised to defeat back on August 15, 2016 – are adherents to the toxic Islamic ideology they call Sharia.    Ever since, Mr. Trump, has been roundly attacked for his clarity about this threat and his determination to vanquish it.  Ditto Amb. Bolton.  Now, those enemies are desperate to keep another robust opponent of Sharia-supremacism from joining the Trump Cabinet. Ironically, by raising objections on these grounds to Secretary of State-designate Mike Pompeo’s confirmation, they will find the American people still want the truth about jihadism – and leaders who will counter it decisively.  Bring on that debate. This is Frank Gaffney.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. President Trump is doubling down on his campaign to keep Communist China from massively ripping off U.S. intellectual property. With good reason. This may be our last chance to prevent hostile Chinese behavior from evolving into a full-blown conflict between the two countries. Two decades of such “unrestricted” – and unreciprocated – warfare against us has left China approaching the point where it can engage in highly competitive innovation in its own right, including in cutting-edge technologies like quantum computing and artificial intelligence.  Beijing is translating such breakthroughs into ominous power-projecting military systems and capabilities. It’s also accelerating efforts to undermine our financial might by displacing the dollar as the world’s reserve currency.   So, we all have a stake in Donald Trump’s bid to wield America’s remaining leverage to dissuade China from continuing, let alone intensifying, its war against us.  Let’s pray it works.  This is Frank Gaffney.
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. How much would it be worth to Saddam Hussein’s nuclear bomb-maker to be able to control a major U.S. port through which he could secretly bring lethal weapons – or just about anything else – into this country?  It turns out the answer is $589 million.  That’s how much a company co-owned by Dr. Jafar Dhia Jafar’s family and a sheikh from the United Arab Emirates has agreed to pay to build and operate for the next fifty years a new shipping container facility in Wilmington, Delaware. Officials there are expected to approve this ominous arrangement tomorrow.  Twelve years ago, the idea of having a company from the UAE run American ports was wisely rejected.  If anything, this one – known as  Gulftainer – is even more worrisome. Tell the Port of Wilmington:  No deal for Gulftainer.  Call Secretary Robert Coupe at 302-744-2680. This is Frank Gaffney.
