Think of life as a game & each stage needs a new version of yourself. You upgrade & evolve to meet the stage's difficulty level, because you can. Your core doesn't need to change, just you need to level up & gear up for what lies ahead. Love how Brian is basically saying when we're mindful of the changes that occur, we're in control of where it's going. We can dictate where we need those changes in our lives instead of allowing those changes to allocate in places that would hinder our growth. It's challenging, but how's living life fun without it?

Greg McKeown's book "Essentialism" offers three alternative and more graceful versions of saying 'no': 1. Delay agreeing to do the task if possible (e.g. checking schedule and getting back to them; relieves pressure) 2. Communicate what you can do and what's possible (makes boundaries clear) 3. Suggest alternatives to the task you're willing to do (ensures comfort for all sides) Personal addition: appreciate the person for giving you the opportunity and trusting you. It validates the other person and maintains friendliness and openness. Also, I've found that saying something like "because this task means a great deal, and because your time is valuable to me, I'm uncomfortable with taking on something and not being able to deliver at present. However, person x may be of help to you with this task to be done quicker" shows you care and are willing to help in a way you can Thanks Brian for these tips!
