Recently, we learned about the sad passing of Mark Dwane, so it was a shock to hear that Mathias Grassow, a leading figure in the drone genre known for his extensive studio and live work, recently lost his life while swimming in the Rhine. Building on our established styles from previous editions, we present a vibrant range of melodic, modular, symphonic, and sequential sounds created by artists who have featured on our airwaves over many years. Just a mention of Enigmatic Obsession, the creative project of Jens Gad, one of the two founders of the legendary formation Enigma. While Michael Cretu is the more widely recognised figure, Jens Gad played a crucial role in shaping Enigma's distinctive sound. We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mark Dwane on 24th July, following the recent discovery of his cancer diagnosis and limited prognosis. Michael Bruckner began his journey in electronic music in 1992, diving in without formal training, and has successfully balanced his passion with a career as a graphic designer. He creates various types of electronic music, exploring everything from soothing ambient melodies to complex sequential sounds. Always eager to experiment, he collaborates with other musicians to craft even more diverse compositions. Michael has notable achievements as a self-managed solo artist, working with guests, compilations, and bands, which has led to the release of over 140 albums since 1993. SEQUENCES PODCAST no 268 Over the past month, we’ve been quite busy organising household storage following our return from Australia and assisting our daughter in relocating to a temporary rental while searching together for a permanent home. We encountered disappointment with one property we were close to purchasing due to serious issues discovered during the survey. Given the chaos, we had a limited time to compile a significant music collection for this month, adding more titles already scheduled for May. UK musician David Hughes, performing as ION, delivers a soundtrack to a no-budget student horror film titled ‘Perdition’s Flames,’ blending guitars and atmospheric synths. Our edited track from 1979 by Earthstar is taken from the album ‘French Skylines,’ produced by Klaus Schulze. As usual, we always like to give the female side exposure, with Brooklyn-based composer and producer Rachika Nayar, who has transitioned from the ghostly netherworlds of her debut to a vivid fluorescent cinematic maximalism, and Nadia Struiwigh, who echoes a free-spirited approach of electronic music in the mid-eighties, giving emotionally-charged ambience.
