I previously believed that HRT (Hormonal Replacement Therapy) was off the table for me - don't ask me why. I guess I always thought it was for women that were really struggling with menopause symptoms and that being a qualified fitness educator, I should be able to battle on through with the knowledge that I had. SO glad I spoke with Dr Rebecca, if only to be able to make more informed decisions about how I intended to embrace longevity and stay feeling SEX-AY! Dr Rebecca Lewis (MBBS FRCA DRCOG MRCGP) qualified from Guy’s Medical School in London in 1991 and initially pursued a career in Anaesthetics, obtaining FRCA in 1997. She then changed speciality and became a GP gaining MRCGP in 2000. She continues to practise as a GP and has developed an interest in the menopause, giving lectures and writing articles on the subject. She is determined to improve the understanding of the menopause in current and future generations through education and access to accurate evidence based medical information. She is passionate about making the menopause a much more positive experience and enabling women to get back to feeling themselves again. She has two young children and enjoys running and keeping fit. Sally says "Throughout my 20+ years in the fitness and coaching profession, I've just kept seeing the theme of women not loving their bodies. I am ON FIRE to help women love their body! I coach women to build and maintain a healthy body mindset. Meanwhile, when I began peri-menopause about 15 years ago, my feelings were all over the place! I felt very confused, frustrated and alone. I thought my life was over. Menopause just wasn't talked about. I began writing the book right then so that women didn't have to feel so alone the way I had". Whenever we get together, there is laughter, there are tears and there is genuine soulful conversation. Ning Baizura is probably the most famous singer in Malaysia. We met on the school playground and became friends because our boys were friends. Ning has recorded under the International Music Labels - Sony, BMG, AMS Records Japan and Warner Music Group. She has recorded 15 Albums and has extended her talents into acting, fashion and fragrance. To hear her sing live is to witness true mastery. Ning brings so much joy and emotion to her singing and to her life. From a young 9 year old finding her voice, through to her first album at 16 and even till today, Ning continues to live her authentic self and truly celebrates women. Ning and I have often spoken of the highs and lows of ageing and for the both of us, we definitely see more upsides. For all her success and accolades, Ning is grounded in her family and her faith. I can’t say enough about this amazing woman so I recommend you do what I did and “google” her. I hope you find as much inspiration in this SOUL episode as I do everytime I speak with Ning.
