Takfeer: Between Extremism & NegligenceLesson #6The categories of People Regarding TakfeerThe second category: The Murji'ah and those who follow their way:They represent the negligent side of takfeer by claiming that anyone who says lā ilāha illā Allāh is a Muslim, regardless of their actions. The main doctrine of the Murji’ah is that they say sin does not harm Imaan, just as obedience does not benefit disbelief. They exclude deeds from being part of Imaan, or treat them only as a condition. They represent the opposite to the harshness of the Khawārij. The third category: Ahlus Sunnah wal-Jamā‘ah.They represent the middle and correct path regarding takfeer. They reject both extremes: the Khawārij (who declare Muslims disbelievers for major sins) and the Murji’ah (who never declare anyone disbelievers). They say that whoever commits a clear nullifier of Islam (without a valid excuse, after being informed) is judged an apostate, even if he says lā ilāha illā Allāh and performs acts of worship. They define Imaan as: speech of the tongue, belief in the heart, and action with the limbs. It increases with obedience and decreases with disobedience.Lesson Date: 03/09/2025
Takfeer: Between Extremism & NegligenceLesson #5The categories of People Regarding TakfeerThe first category: The Khawarij and those who follow their way. They go to extremes by declaring Muslims disbelievers for committing major sins. The Prophet ﷺ described them as people who kill Muslims but leave idol-worshippers.Historically, the Khawārij have never fought disbelievers, only Muslims. Their error comes from ignorance and misuse of the evidence. They are not just a past group; their ideology appears in every age.Muslims are warned to stay away from them, protect their children from their ideas, and instead study authentic books of Aqeedah written by reliable scholars.
