Welcome to She’s So Boss Mindset, I’m your host, Lisa Latimer business mindset coach, and battle-tested empath. This is the first episode where I’m going to be actually doing video and then stripping it and putting the video and audio on YouTube and downloading right to the, um, right to audacity from here as well. So this is an interesting fun experiment. Always, always be testing and always be curious to see about what would happen to you. Something differently. It leads to amazing things. Trust me. So this episode is all about harnessing that new year’s energy now, right smack in the middle of September. What better time of year? I’ve always loved the fall, not just because it’s me and my daughter’s birthday month, but that crisp new, fresh air that rolls in, right. That kind of heavy stagnant humidity that makes it a little harder to breathe.
Speaker 0 00:01:11 It starts rolling out and it just, it has always put me into this more productive, more comfortable in certain ways, but also that crisp, that runs through your body and your bones. That gives you just the perfect amount of chill. It keeps you just uncomfortable enough that you’re out there pushing your limits and testing and doing new things. So I love the fall for so many reasons. Now, something that I really want you to aim for with this upcoming 2022. I want you to make the shift from going into your new year and saying, oh, this is my goal. I want to accomplish this. You know, I want more clients. I want to lose more weight. I want to be rid of this toxic person that I’m with or these toxic people that I’m surrounding myself with. Right? I want you to get into that energy of being in the results, having the results before you go into your new year, if not having the result, then at least being so damn close to the results that you could taste it because it hits different.
Speaker 0 00:02:20 It’s a completely different energy. When you walk into your new year with that results, and you’re able to just sit at your phone, you know, be on social media or wherever, and be able to view all of the obligatory happy new year. What’s your resolution. My resolution is this or my word for the years alignment. Right? Last year it was alignment me and a million other people. And you can sit there and just get this, this little smile, right. And just, and say, ah, that used to be me. I’m already there though. I have the result that I wanted. How much different for you? Would it be to go into your new year, having the results that you want rather than being in the energy of the need and the want of, when you go into your new years with the result, the wind does that come back, can you still fuck it up?
Speaker 0 00:03:13 Sure. You can. There’s a million ways to fuck up, but there’s also a million ways to win. If you go into your new year with the results, you can either coast the rest of the year. Maybe you hit some high energetic points and some more relaxed ones, but you’ll still be good because you’ve already got that main result, right? Or you can blow through your goal and hit goals that you didn’t even think of because maybe at the moment they seem out of reach. You’re a little far-fetched for you, but that’s when you go into your new year with the goal already, not the wants, not the need and certainly not the energy of desperation. So what is it that you can do right now to start getting yourself in that space, where you say, you know, what, what do I want from 2022? What do I not want from 2022?
Speaker 0 00:04:11 I’m kind of giving away the journal prompts and the, and the questions that I usually say for the end that help me dig into a deeper layer of yourself. Awareness that also makes for great journal prompts, kind of getting into them now. But it’s because without having this clari
In this episode, we're shifting the approach to New Years Resolutions so that rather than chucking another goal into the F-it Bucket, you enjoy having the wind at your back and enjoy feeling fulfilled in the new year.

Today’s episode is a fun one. And I have to admit, it leaves me a little bit
vulnerable, but I have been practicing flexing. And this, this muscle, this I don’t give a fuck
muscle. And I have to tell you at almost 40 3:00 AM at a place where my give a fuck is in the
right places. And my, I don’t give a fuck is in all of the right places. So today’s episode is all
about putting those skeletons to work for you and your business. No, it’s not a Halloween
episode. I’m talking about putting the skeletons that you have in your closet. Those things that
you feel like you would just cringe or want to dig a hole and jump in.
Speaker 1 00:01:15 And if anyone ever found out about it, putting those skeletons to work
for you, grabbing them out of the closet, shaking them out, right? Getting all the mothballs off
them and exposing yourself and really be amazing amount of freedom. And just so many other
benefits that come with doing that in your personal life and not so obviously perhaps in your
business. So let’s talk about this. Let’s jump right into it. We all have those things, right? That if
say, uh, I don’t know if the real Housewives of wherever you live came knocking on your door,
wanting to have you audition, right? You might be like, oh, that sounds amazing. But you know,
you have that one or maybe even a few things that you feel like, oh my God, if people knew this
about me, they dug this up about me. If this was exposed, you would feel that that’s, it like ends
game and in your business, I’m willing to bet that it’s that thing.
Speaker 1 00:02:18 And it may be buried beneath a layer upon layer of other things. But I
guarantee you that somewhere in there causing you to show up in this kind of diluted, not as
potent, not as powerful version of yourself, right there is this fear of this thing or these things that
are in your closet, that you haven’t aired out. That you’ve just buried so deep that you hope no
one finds out about. It’s the things that every now and again, when your mind goes to it, you kind
of feel a little cringy, right? You feel a little cringey thinking about it, that you want to see the, did
those things or said those things or dated that person? My skeleton, this is funny because in my
email sequence, if you’re on my email list, I have it set up. I think about the fifth email that I send
out.
Speaker 1 00:03:06 And it’s at the point in my relationship where I feel like we’re, you know,
as if we’re dating, like, I feel like at that point, you know, me, you know, kind of, well, you familiar
with me, you like me, we’re in a little bit of a relationship doing our thing, right. Um, if we break
up at that point, there won’t be any majorly hurt feelings. I won’t, I won’t run in and cry myself to
sleep. So in that email, I say, listen, this may be the end of the road for us because I have two
things that I need to let you in on. Now, one of those things is, and I’m sure you’ve guessed it. If
you’ve, I mean, for God’s sakes, the title of my book is who the fuck are you? Right. And I know I
dropped a couple of F-bombs at the beginning of this particular episode.
Speaker 1 00:03:50 And I don’t, I don’t curse to be edgy. I don’t curse because I think it’s
cool o
In this episode, I make the case for taking the skeletons you stuffed away in your closet, shaking the mothballs off of them, and using them to build both your confidence and your business. Bombshell entrepreneurs don't run from their past, they use it to their advantage! To help you take control of your skeletons, I make a scandalous confession that will leave you ready to go full-frontal on your past.
It is great to be back with you must be the former beautician at me, but I cannot emphasize how much I love a
good make-over. And that is exactly what I took the summer to do with the podcast, which if you
recall, if you’ve been with me before it was personal growth lifestyle and it is now she so blessed
mindset named after my Facebook group. She so blessed mindset incubator. So today’s episode
is the reintroduction. When it tell you what I learned, the shifts that I had to make, um, in terms of
my mindset to come back and to rebrand, why I decided to do it and what you can expect from
this podcast, which I have to be honest, it’s not going to be so, so different from personal work
lifestyle.
So just in case you forgot who I am, because I did kind of fall off the face of the earth
for a minute, at least podcasting wise, I’m Lisa Latimer, business mindset, coach battle-tested
empath, and I help bombshell female entrepreneurs combine the impersonal and entrepreneurial
growth to create success, fulfillment, and impact in life and business.
I have never believed that your personal growth in your entrepreneurial
growth were separate containers of life. They are very much interconnected. In fact, your
entrepreneurial growth and journey is an extension of your personal growth.
So the reason that I took the summer off was because I found myself in that situation that we often do, especially as
coaches, where I was able to help everyone else figure out what they needed and make the
shifts and ask the right questions that got them to dig deeper and understand what they needed.
And then one day I got on a phone call with a good friend of mine, Holly Hughes. She was
actually an amazing guest. She’s an energy healer. And if you didn’t catch her episode that we
did on personal growth lifestyle, still one of the most listened to episodes on here. It’s the
episode about energetically detaching from narcissist abuse. Um, so I highly recommend you go back and listen to that, but we were
talking and she very much wanted to combine per writing and something else. And I suggested
doing a podcast and she had all sorts of ideas in her head about what kind of a pain in the ass a
podcast would be. And I said to her, well, what does a podcast look and feel like for you? She
was like, well, you know, from what I see out there, it’s really expensive. It takes a lot of time,
you know, she made it out to be this huge beast of burden. And I laughed. I’m like, do I hire
someone on Fiverr that does my, for five, it comes up to like $7 per episode. So that’s number
one, not the huge expense that you thought. Um, and I said, you know, there are podcasts out
there now they’re five minutes. You could do a podcast where you kill two birds with one stone where
you make the podcast about your book. And she was like, oh, really? You know, it was kind of
like this head explode moment. And when I got off the phone with her, I had that same head
explosion moment because I was like, holy shit, what I’m telling her is exactly what I need to be
telling myself and doing for myself.
And with that, I came to the conclusion that I needed to take the summer off from the personal growth lifestyle podcast and really get out of the weeds, get out of the muckiness of doing what she was doing, which was looking at other podcasts and
saying, okay, well I need to do it at least once a week. I, it needs to be like 40 minutes at minimum, 30 minutes long.
Speaker 1 00:04:01 I need to have guests. Funny enough when the podcast first started, I
had on the original introduction episode of personal growth lifestyle, I said, it’s mainly going to be
me. You will get an occasional interv
After stepping away from Personal Growth Lifestyle dealing with major burnout, this is the introduction to the rebrand. Not a huge departure from Personal Growth Lifestyle, but the addition of business, supporting my fellow BOSS ladies who understand that their entrepreneurial and personal growth aren't separate containers of life. They feed off of and into each other.

We can be pretty obsessed with how the most successful people got to
where they are now. Of course, if someone is in a place that you admire and would like to be
yourself, they are the absolute best go-to for that. So it totally makes sense, but it could feel a
little bit like we get a lot of the wake up at 4:00 AM and crush it type of advice. The have a green
smoothie, as soon as you wake up and meditate for the first half-hour that you wake up type of
advice, right? But you also get all of these conflicting tips from one guru to the next, which can
make you feel like you have to be doing all of the things in order for you to succeed at your
goals.
So today, I’m going to tell you the only four must-haves that you need to
get to your goals. Everything else outside of these four things can be worked around, and hang
out until the end, because you’re going to get one to three thought-provoking questions that, you
know, make great journaling prompts, and they really help you scratch beneath the surface of
your self-awareness. So let’s jump right in.
After speaking with a prospective client several days ago, I asked what should be really a simple question for anyone that’s running a
business, especially he’s been running your business for a little while. And every time I asked
this question, I kid you not, the hairs
Think you have to crush it at 5 AM, drink green smoothies, or do all of the things in order to reach your goals? In this episode, Lisa breaks it down to the core 4 that you need to blow past your goals, & in alignment with yourself.

Welcome to personal growth, lifestyle, real talk real results. I’m your host, Lisa Latimer, self-awareness coach helping ambitious women stop running on autopilot, break free from their limiting belief systems so they can create the fulfillment they crave in life and business. So today I have a very special guest on I have none other than my own cousin. She knew me when my mother used to cut my hair up to my neck and my father used to pick it out with a pic and I had a little Afro running around. So please welcome my cousin Tasha Thompson Vassar, who is talking about trusting God’s timing In business. How are you my dear?
Tysha Thomason-Vassor 1:02
I’m doing good. How are you?
Lisa Latimer 1:05
Oh, I am doing so well. And the reason I have you on today is because, you know, as I’ve started, really going more in-depth with my faith journey and getting into the Bible. I know that trusting in God’s timing can be difficult. And you know, you starting your business, you’ve done some things that I find incredibly inspiring. Your faith has been an inspiration to me, your entrepreneurship, and your faith, not only in God but in yourself is also really inspirational to me. And I know that right now, with COVID going on. And with so many businesses that we hear, having gone under or just facing incredible hardships, your story is incredibly inspirational right now. And yeah, and we’re gonna discuss some of the things that you’ve gone through that your faith is getting you through, as well as the concept of work-life balance because you’re, you’re being tested right now, just like myself and so many other moms out there with businesses and children, and either homeschooling or distance learning. So we’re gonna get into all of that today.
So let me just start this off by saying, you did something that not triggered me, it triggered a bit of like, fear in me, but then a lot of Wow, a lot of all me, and that is that you have been doing hair for years going to client’s homes. And you’ve created a wonderful business for yourself. Yes, you decided to open a brick-and-mortar salon, in the middle of the COVID pandemic, when people are talking tale or just financially forced to have to shut their doors. And here you are going right in. Tell us a little bit about how you came to the decision to open your salon. And timing and the time.
Tysha Thomason-Vassor 2:57
Okay, well, um, I wanted to open a salon, I’ve been wanting to open one, it just was never, in my mind the perfect timing. And so I actually started working for a dental company back in, I want to say 2019. And when I did, I was there and I was like, You know what, I’m going to save up every little penny that I got. And I’m going to open a salon and 2020 That’s the goal. And you know, God works in mysterious ways. This company started doing massive layoffs. And I got laid off, right, the week of Thanksgiving, I got laid off, right. And I was not sure what I wanted to do. But I was like, You know what, I’m not looking for another job. Because if I do, then I’m at their mercy when they want to get rid of me when they want to downsize the company or when they want to pay me less and pay some, you know, they’ll get they’ll just terminate me
I win. And I was actually in the process of finishing a book that I was writing. And I went to the b
My guest opened her salon at the peak of when COVID-19 was causing mass temporary & permanent business closings. What made her take her thriving mobile natural hair business to brick & mortar during such a business-crushing time? Faith in God's timing!

Be sure to follow me on Instagram at Personal Growth Lifestyle. So today, my guest is Pamela Moss, owner and estate planning attorney at Law Mother and host of the Working Moms podcast. Thanks so much for joining us today, Pamela.
Thanks for having me, Lisa.
Oh, wonderful topic. I don’t think it’s spoken about often enough. So estate planning goes far beyond ensuring the financial security of your loved ones. But what are some of the things that estate planning includes?
Yeah, that’s a great question. So for people who are parents listening, right. Your estate plan also includes who you would want to care for your kids if your kids were minors.
It also includes your disability protection. So if something were to happen to you, who would you want to care for you? And what are the types of medical decisions? What are the things that you would want to have happen? Right. So you really want to take the burden off your loved ones when they’re going through something like that of having to decide should she stay on life support, should she not? What should she do? And then if you’re a business owner, it’s really ensuring that if something were to happen to you, what would happen to your business?
Yeah, and it’s funny because when we first spoke, I was kind of like, you know, I’m not sure if this subject goes into, like personal growth and development, but if you think about it, things have been kind of out of the blue. And so I think that taking care of those who would be left to have to deal with all of that, you’re going through the emotional aspect of it. But then you also have a ton of paperwork and so many things that you have to line up.
So it’s kind of not just for your peace of mind while you’re here, but it really is for the peace of mind and the the mental clarity for those that are going to be that you’re going to be leaving behind. And I know it sounds so, so melancholy to talk like that, but there are certain realities that we have to talk about and deal with in life, right?
Absolutely. Yeah. And I think there is this kind of fear that talking about it will make it happen. Right. Like, if I talk about my dad, then it’s going to make it happen sooner. And of the thousands of state plans I’ve put in place, I’ve never seen any correlation or connection between someone putting a plan in place and then tragedy strikes. Yeah, but, you know, the vast majority of us are going to become disabled at some point in our life.
Hopefully we recover and having planning for yourself is good and then all of us eventually are going to die. So having a plan in place, you really get to have that peace of mind today, knowing that when the time comes, your family is going to be not left with a mess, not left with a legal nightmare, but left with something that is really a true legacy.
Right. And I got an understanding of this just about a year
Today I'm speaking with Pamela Maas, owner of Law Mother estate planning firm about estate planning, & running her firm with a newborn. Pamela shares great insight on estate planning outside of just the material stuff, & amazing tips she uses to run her firm Law Mother while adjusting to motherhood.
There are many people in your life you may feel the need to make amends with. We learn that healing broken relationships brings peace and is a sign of being a bigger person. However, this advice often leaves out the most important person, your inner child. In this post, I cover why healing your inner child is the key to happiness and how you can begin the process.
What is Inner Child Healing and Do I Need It?
If you once wore diapers, ate strained peas, or played in the mud, you have an inner child who needs healing. You were a sponge absorbing the good, the bad, and everything in between. Quite the opposite of running on autopilot in adulthood. You didn’t turn a certain age and become a separate entity from your childhood self. In fact, much of her/him is still fairly easy to see. If you’ve ever thought someone was behaving childishly you were witnessing their inner child taking over the wheel.
Healing old wounds from your developmental years is also referred to as shadow work, but no matter the name, the mission is still the same. Just as I focus on in my coaching, the ultimate goal is building self-awareness. When you embark on the journey of self-awareness, meeting with your inner child is essential. Why? Because just as you would be at a loss stepping over ancient artifacts rather than examine them to gain knowledge of the past, your inner child holds valuable gems about your past.
The key to your happiness is your inner child
I explain to my clients and community members that we all have a unique internal processing system. It’s partly how siblings can grow up in the same household and develop completely different attitudes, values, and behaviors. There will be experiences that seem silly to call a trauma that still cut into a deeper layer of our awareness triggering deep emotions.
My friend Ana Canon writes that her first-grade teacher gave everyone cute pencils reflecting their personalities. She noticed other girls getting ones that read “ballerina” “princess” and “smart cookie.” Hers read “born to talk.” That coupled with “talks too much in class” on multiple report cards made her feel like she was disruptive and annoying. It led

I’m thrilled to have Jackie Roby, chief excellence officer at Inspired Journey Consulting. Jackie is a diversity equity inclusion advocate with over 19 years of experience in travel and hospitality sales. Her mission is to empower marginalized people to be their authentic selves. Thank you so much for joining us this morning, Jackie.
[00:00:57.760] – Jackie Roby
Oh, absolutely. I’m so grateful to be here.
[00:00:59.910] – Lisa Latimer
So I really, really do like the idea of using travel as a tool for inclusion. I think so many times we just think of travel as going off and having fun, especially when we’re younger. o to create the the cultural awareness, I’m wondering, what have you seen happen, the different types of shifts that you’ve noticed when people get outside of their bubble?
[00:01:29.940]
So a big piece of that is really setting the intention to have a mindset shift, because I know that through many of my travels, I can see kind of a before and after of going with a feeling of almost entitlement.
[00:01:48.540] – Jackie Roby
And I think it’s really easy to fall into that. We don’t have a lot of time specifically as Americans to take off. We’re investing our money. And so there’s almost even though it’s a place of relaxation and excitement, there’s almost pressure put on this time.
[00:02:04.950] – Jackie Roby
And I’ve seen when we travel and we say, oh, this wasn’t enough, this wasn’t enough. This I didn’t like this made me uncomfortable instead of going with the intention of something bigger. And usually when you’re looking at a space of inclusion, you want toopen-minded be open minded, to learn and understand that can look like so many different things that can look like I personally love history. So researching the culture and history before I go, so I can see elements of it throughout going to museums or art galleries, talking to the people they are, and not just asking what you should go and se.
[00:02:44.250] – Jackie Roby
Or recommending a restaurant or recommending a show.
[00:02:48.710] – Jackie Roby
Yeah, even something simple, because I think we get very stuck in these basic questions that we tend to ask everyone. But what if you ask what is bringing you joy today? That’s an amazing way tunderstand things. I am less likely to look at anything that has a big brand around it and go for something that is more boutique, local, culturally immersed. So that way you can feel and know where you are and you’re supporting and you’re giving money back into that community. And I think so much of what we’ve seen in the past year really shows the value of supporting local.
[00:03:25.950] – Jackie Roby
We can all see how our jobs are impacted.
[00:03:28.950] – Lisa Latimer
Yes, I know when I’ve traveled, I’ve gone on and it’s been quite a while now, so I forget the website, but it’s like one of those hotels.com or whatever, or TripAdvisor is the one. And but when you go on TripAdvisor and you look for like the things to do on TripAdvisor, you come away with the same generic experience that ev

I had a completely different topic ready for you today, but the latest Rachel Hollis debacle really caught my attention for so many reasons. So I’m bringing you another episode of teachable moments from our pop culture. And to be honest, at first I wasn’t even going to touch this, you know. I’m not even a big Rachel Hollis person myself, not even a little Rachel Hollis person to be honest with you. And my first thought was, “oh, God, here goes canceled culture again”. You know, I don’t like partaking in cancel culture. To be quite honest with you, I believe that we’re operating on a degree of self righteousness when we just outright cancel someone you know, everything that they’re about, try to see to it that they meet their demise personally and professionally. unless they’ve done something that is completely egregious. It’s a little self righteous to claim to know what’s in someone’s heart, whom you’ve never met before. Some people are just clumsy with their words. Some people are just naive to certain things. And I like to give people room to grow, otherwise, I wouldn’t be in the personal growth and development space, if I didn’t believe in it.
So then I did a little bit of digging, and I went on Rachel’s Instagram. And I thought initially that it was just an offending comment. And there was an offending comment. But it was in response to a Tiktok video that she made. That is what’s at the root, essentially, of why everyone got so pissed off with her in the first place. So today, as we unpack Rachel’s recent incident that offended so many, we’re going to kind of identify the lessons for ourselves to grow from it. And of course, you’re gonna want to stick around until the end and get the 1-3 thought-provoking questions that I always leave you with. At the end of one of my solo episode they make for excellent journal prompts and they scratch the surface of your self-awareness self.
I know you hear my papers rustling! I’ve got a lot of papers today. If you want the short and sweet version of this, feel free to hop on my Instagram at personal @growth_lifestyle and check out my latest IGTV.
So, the powerhouse brand that is Rachel Hollis, it includes her blog, her books like Girl Wash Your Face, Girl Stop Apologizing, and I think her latest one is Didn’t See That Coming. Boy if there were ever a fitting title! Oops, sorry about that diesel just knocked my brush off the table. You know how cats can be. Um, so yeah, it’s her books, and her motivational speaking gigs. And I think that was through her brand Rise. And she did a lot of that with her now ex-husband, Dave Hollis.
I want to make one thing clear right from the get-go. I’m not gonna slam this woman. That’s not the purpose of today’s show. But I’ll say this, I’ll say the things that I’m going to say. And you can take it however you want. I have a long history from my first 11-year relationship with my high school ex-boyfriend and then went on to a second more dangerous relationship after that. And they were both narcissists. I’ve got a pretty keen sense of the energy of a narcissist. For that, among other reasons, I was just never able to get into Rachel Hollis.
I heard so many wonderful, wonderful things about her. And a few groups that I’m a part of on Facebook, I got the impres
