Since graduating from Yale in 1967, Judith Bernstain has developed a reputation as one of the most unwaveringly provocative artists of her generation. Steadfast in her cultural, political, and social critique for over 50 years, Bernstein surged into art world prominence in the early 1970s with her monumental charcoal drawings of objects that look like a cross between a penis and a screw. Early incarnations of these drawings were exhibited at AIR Gallery, Brooklyn Museum, and MoMA P.S.1, among other institutions. Kim-Joy is best known for her turn on The Great British Bake Off. Her birthday falls on World Baking Day, which she takes as the surest sign there can be that she was born to bake.
