Sam sits down with Brandon Klein, Thomas McElmeel, and Ben Schaefer for a special, impromptu (video) episode to discuss everything from loneliness in relationships and the creative process to being present and babies possibly gaslighting us. At some point Sam argues that “all you have to do, ever, is be utterly honest.“
Brandon eats a whole carton of Nada Moo ice cream, Thomas tries to get a cat to speak, and Ben paints a longboard.

(Re-upload. This aired 2021.) In this solo episode of Sitting with Sam, Sam sits down.....by himself. He discusses motivated reasoning, what it is, why we all do it, and why we always assume that we are right, even if we are in fact not. Sam attempts to answer questions such as: How do you escape ideological thinking? What causes people to think incoherently? What can you do about it? Sam is far from an expert, on anything really, (so cut him some slack) but he tries to approach this subject by borrowing wisdom from Julia Galef and other thinkers.
After a two month hiatus Sam sits down once again, this time with podcast producer and meditation coach Brandon Klein. Brandon and Sam converse about topics such as: Does comedy help deal with anxiety? Do humans have souls? Is there objective truth and do we have free will? They also touch on questions of God, morality and the nature of time.
Such a joy, Brandon!

Madie and Sam hate on sparkling water, and answer the world’s most urgent questions such as: is Madie a communist? Is America socialist? Is it PC to talk about exercise? Is Chipotle better than Qdoba and what are the best fast food places anyway? What’s the difference between art and design? Does Sam need to catch up on Pixar films? (He does.) Are Madie and Sam film snobs? Are babies ugly? Should one support free speech for someone who they disagree with?
