Description
I'm Charlie O'Shields! In 2015, I started sketching with watercolor and became so hooked that I created a little blog called Doodlewash that has since grown much larger over the years. There I've featured posts from hundreds of artists all over the world, and in many ways it’s your usual art blog. Until I show up and start sketching stuff and rambling on about life, creativity and other little things that come to mind. Most of which have more to do with life in general than art itself. Being a bit shy, I've never appeared on video like so many of my artist friends, so I thought I would start with audio and sharing, not my paintings, but the stories they inspired. Many filled with facts you didn’t even think you needed to know, others a bit autobiographical, and some just plain fun. Welcome to Sketching Stuff, a collection of stories sketched from life.

You're not alone at all — sketching designs is still a huge part of many UX processes, especially in early-stage ideation. It’s fast, low-pressure, and honestly helps me think more clearly. If you’re looking for a deep dive into how and why it still matters, check out this guide: sketching designs https://clay.global/blog/ux-guide/ux-sketching . It covers how to use sketching in UX properly — from solo brainstorming to team collaboration — and even how it fits into design sprints and user testing. I use it to clarify ideas before jumping into Figma, and it's saved me tons of time and rework. Definitely worth the read.
Anyone here still sketch out their UX ideas on paper before diving into tools? I feel like everything’s gone digital, but I miss the speed and flexibility of good old pen and paper. Wondering if it’s still a legit part of the workflow or if I’m just being nostalgic. Thoughts?
