Constituye una fuente de ingresos clave para Panamá a través de los peajes que se cobran a los barcos que pasan por el canal. La construcción del Canal de Panamá representó una monumental hazaña de ingeniería que exigió superar importantes retos, como un terreno accidentado, densas selvas tropicales y la necesidad de atravesar la divisoria continental. El dólar estadounidense ha sido una de las monedas oficiales de Panamá durante más de un siglo. Su uso se remonta a principios del siglo XX, durante la construcción del Canal de Panamá, cuando se convirtió en la moneda preferida dentro de la Zona del Canal de Panamá. Ciudad de Panamá, la vibrante capital de Panamá, está rodeada de verdes reservas naturales y espacios verdes. El Parque Nacional Metropolitano, de aproximadamente 232 hectáreas dentro de los límites de la ciudad, destaca por ser uno de los pocos parques urbanos del mundo que cuenta con un bosque tropical húmedo. Panamá alberga más de 10.000 especies de plantas, 1.500 de árboles y unas 1.000 de aves, lo que la convierte en un paraíso para los ornitólogos. Sus selvas tropicales están repletas de fauna exótica, como perezosos, monos, jaguares, tapires y un sinfín de reptiles y anfibios. Hay 3 volcanes en Panamá. Entre los volcanes más notables de Panamá están el Volcán Barú, el Volcán de Chiriquí y el Volcán El Valle. El Volcán Barú, situado cerca de la frontera con Costa Rica, en la provincia de Chiriquí, es el pico más alto de Panamá, con una altura aproximada de 3.474 metros. Aunque se considera inactivo más que activo, sigue siendo un importante accidente geológico de la región. Panamá tiene la segunda mayor zona franca del mundo. La Zona Libre de Colón, situada cerca de la ciudad de Colón, en la costa caribeña de Panamá, ocupa más de 1.000 hectáreas y se considera un importante centro de comercio internacional. Como una de las mayores zonas francas del mundo, la ZLC es un motor económico vital para Panamá, que atrae a miles de empresas internacionales y genera importantes ingresos para el país. Darwin examinó la forma en que la misma especie de ave había evolucionado de manera diferente en cada una de las 21 islas de Galápagos.Ecuador es el paraíso de un observador de aves. Esta es una de las mejores curiosidades de Ecuador para los amantes de la naturaleza. Ecuador tiene más aves por kilómetro cuadrado que cualquier otro lugar del mundo. Con 1.632 especies diferentes confirmadas y 48 otras especies hipotéticas. Ecuador tiene el punto más cercano al sol y la montaña más alta desde el centro de la Tierra.  El Everest es la montaña más alta del mundo. Sin embargo, el Chimborazo, con sus 6.268 metros, se considera el punto más cercano al Sol. La Virgen del Panecillo es la única virgen en el mundo con alas de ángel. Esta estatua de 41 metros de altura es uno de los iconos de Quito. Ecuador, Colombia y Venezuela fueron un mismo país. Cuando consiguió la Independencia de España en 1822, Ecuador se unió al proyecto de la Gran Colombia. Por aquel entonces era un enorme país que abarcaba los territorios de los actuales Ecuador, Colombia y Venezuela. Estaba liderada por Simón Bolívar y pretendía crear una nación muy fuerte para competir con las principales potencias europeas. Ecuador es tierra de volcanes. Hay 95 en su territorio (incluyendo los de las Islas Galápagos) y lo más asombroso (y un poco acojonante) es que 35 de ellos están activos o potencialmente activos. Uno de los datos más interesantes sobre la cultura ecuatoriana es que existen al menos 14 idiomas reconocidos que se hablan en el país. El español es el idioma oficial, mientras que también se reconocen 13 idiomas indígenas, incluidos el quichua y el shua.Los plátanos son un producto alimenticio importante en Ecuador. Los plátanos son un elemento indispensable de la dieta y la cocina ecuatoriana. Es una celebración alegre que combina tradiciones indígenas prehispánicas con creencias católicas, donde se cree que los espíritus de los difuntos regresan a visitar a los vivos. Las familias crean coloridos altares con ofrendas como comida, flores (especialmente la flor de cempasúchil) y velas, y a menudo pasan la noche en las tumbas de sus familiares. Su origen se ubica en la armonía entre la celebración de los rituales religiosos católicos traídos por los españoles y la conmemoración del día de muertos que los indígenas realizaban desde los tiempos prehispánicos; los antiguos mexicas, mixtecas, texcocanos, zapotecas, tlaxcaltecas, totonacas y otros pueblos originarios. Cada año muchas familias colocan ofrendas y altares decorados con flores de cempasúchil, papel picado, calaveritas de azúcar, pan de muerto, mole o algún platillo que le gustaba a sus familiares a quien va dedicada la ofrenda, y al igual que en tiempos prehispánicos, se coloca incienso para aromatizar el lugar.La tradición también indica que, para facilitar el retorno de las almas a la tierra, se deben esparcir pétalos de flores de cempasúchil y colocar velas trazando el camino que van a recorrer para que estas almas no se pierdan y lleguen a su destino. En la antigüedad este camino llegaba desde la casa de las familias hasta el panteón donde descansaban sus seres queridos. Se cree que las almas de los difuntos regresan a la tierra para visitar a sus familias. Es una conmemoración alegre que celebra la vida, no una ocasión sombría. Se usan altares, ofrendas y se visita a los difuntos. Su presencia se anuncia por un lamento prolongado que hiela la sangre de quienes lo escuchan. Los testigos describen su voz como un eco que nadie puede olvidar. Hace muchos años, en un pequeño pueblo junto a un río, vivía una mujer muy hermosa. Dicen que su belleza era tan grande, que todos en el pueblo la conocían solo por eso: «la joven del río». Un día llegó un hombre elegante, de familia rica, que se enamoró de ella. Empezaron una relación y tuvieron dos hijos. Por un tiempo, todo parecía perfecto. Pero un día, sin explicación, él la dejó. La leyenda está cargada de sentimientos intensos. El hombre se casó con una mujer de su mismo «nivel social», y la joven quedó sola con sus hijos. La tristeza la consumió. Salía cada noche a caminar con los niños, hasta que una tarde, en medio de una tormenta, algo se rompió dentro de ella.Los llevó hasta el río… y los dejó ir. Ese mismo instante, se dio cuenta de lo que había hecho. Corrió, gritó, lloró, buscó… pero ya era tarde. Dicen que desde ese momento, su alma quedó condenada a vagar eternamente, buscando a sus hijos en la noche, entre árboles, caminos y orillas.El famoso llanto: ¡Ay, mis hijos! «¿Dónde están mis niños?«¡Hijos míos! ¡Hijos míos!» Esta mujer tiene el cabello muy largo en una mezcla de colores negro, plateado y dorado. Solo nevó una vez en Cuba, por lo menos desde que se tienen registros. Ocurrió en Cárdenas el 12 de marzo de 1857. Menuda sorpresa tuvieron los habitantes aquel día. Todos conocen la figura del Che Guevara, pero ¿sabías que más allá de ser un héroe de la Revolución Cubana fue también ministro de economía del Gobierno Castro?
