Trevor Walraven was convicted of an unthinkable crime when he was 14 years old. He spent nearly 18 years in prison before he was released. In this two-part conversation, we talk to him about the crime he committed, his co-defendant,  how he spent his time in prison, and his emergence as an advocate for giving other inmates a second chance to become productive members of society. Trevor Walraven spent nearly 18 years in prison for a murder he committed when he was 14 years old. He was released after going through Oregon’s “Second Look” process, which required him to show he had taken responsibility for his crime and demonstrated "outstanding reformation." He now advocates for criminal justice reform with a special focus on youth, who he argues are more likely to reform and deserve meaningful opportunities when released. Trevor co-founded the Oregon Youth Justice Project under the Oregon Justice Resource Center in mid 2018. This is one of the few podcasts that have ever bothered me. the treatment of this child was the most in-humane thing I've ever heard. every action they did to that child should be done to them.

I think givin what we know about mental health, to call someone bat shit crazy is irresponsible, especially in this situation to hear it from law officials is unprofessional

I have binged the first season in the last 2 days at work! I love hearing questions answered that we all have when it comes to police work. Yeardley and Zibby's reactions are beyond exception and right on the make! This is my new favorite true crime podcast for sure! From one small town to another, thank you for all the insight for real crime detective processes. Most of us out here only have television crime dramas to draw assumptions from. Thank you!

I'm confused that you call it a small town but E***** has a population of over 160.000. correct me if I'm wrong. Here in Australia a small town has 150 ppl even up to 4000. but 160.000 is a city.

JFC. I am with everyone else on this one. Even as a true crime "aficionado" this was hard to listen to. There are no words harsh enough to describe the perpetrators. My heart aches thinking about what that poor defenseless little girl went through at the hands of those who were supposed to take care of her. This is one of a few cases that will stick with me forever.
