All of the other podcasters on Irish airwaves were getting sponsorship from Island's Edge so we said, "Fuck it, let's sell out and get ourselves a sponsorship deal". But first, we needed to try the yoke we'd be touting to the masses. So that's what we did... Listen in to get a hint of the turmoil we endured. The lads sit down in Tullys Bar in Waterford. The undisputed better Tullys, no matter what Ed says. They discuss how Charlie and Camilla of the royals would get on in Waterford pubs if they just wandered in, reflecting upon the recent royal visit.
The lads sit in Philles and recall a few recent trips to the pub that have been filled with characters. This of course, results in a chat about the different Auld lads you'd meet. Pure nonsense. Don't forget to check out the new merchandise shop at snugcast.myspreadshop.ie
DJ and Eoin are joined by a Brit for this episode. His name is Paul and he likes pints but he doesn't like Brits. DJ starts by giving Hopfully the apology they deserve. We chat about pints and we give our top tips on how to survive a heavy night out on the pints. This week's sponsor is Hopfully and rightfully so... They're Offaly nice people. I can't really remember what happens in the Síbín which is a good sign, so if you want to find out go to https://patreon.com/snugcast Twitter : https://twitter.com/snugcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/snugcast/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/snugcast/ For Snugcast merch, find it on: snugcast.myspreadshop.ie 15% OFF all orders until 9th March. The lads sit at the bar in Tullys for a chat about Metalman leaving the independent brewing space (for now) and what that means for local brewing in Waterford city, the Metalman taps around the place and a few very welcome and lovely nuggets chimed in from the bar staff and passers by. Recording in the pubs again is the chaos we have missed badly. Also - visit snugcast.myspreadshop.ie for 15% off our brand new merchandise before midnight March 9th. A snugcast hoodie would looks class in a pub on Paddy's day lads let's be honest!
The lads sit down with the one and only Ben Parke who travelled from Wisconsin to soak in the incredible ambience of Phillies. We take in some tasty beers and have a good laugh. Apologies to Charlie Day for the butchering at the start.
We admit it lads, we got giddy, we got excited, and we went at it too hard. This episode is two boys trying to recount what happened last Friday night in Phil Grimes where we were meant to record a podcast but were so enamoured with the return of the high stool... we.... well, you'll just have to listen to find out. We also go back and cast through the Pilsner Prowl for a stellar beer... It's Pure Notions. Our shout-out this week goes to Treaty City Brewing To listen to our Patreon exclusive Síbín content, join us on https://www.patreon.com/snugcast Twitter : https://twitter.com/snugcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/snugcast/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/snugcast/ Make sure to rate us on Apple Podcasts and Spotify and tell your friends about our show.
The boys are joined by Tommy Keighery of the Irish Design Podcast to chat about their favourite yokes of 2021. We also make a quick return of the Pilsner Prowl with a beauty which may have just turned the leaders table on its head. We give a shout-out to Metalman Brewing in this episode as our featured ad. Last week the Snugcast was back, this week, the country is back.... COME OOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!! The boys are joined by Peter Breen from the Portlaoise Pub Club and the #DrinkIrish movement and we basically chat all good things of the pubs reopening. We share our thoughts on the first pint, first pub and first chat we're all going to experience. We've been so giddy with the thoughts of stepping back into the pubs, we may lose the run of ourselves a bit. This week's shout-out goes to Brú Brewery. Their range of core range and Jungle Series beers have bowled us over and we're delighted to shout them out!
We're back baby! We've gotten the podcast back up and we've a new logo to boot. We'd like to thank Ciaraíoch (find her work on https://www.ciaraioch.com/) This week we discussed about how we're swapping out our old ads and giving back to the community by advertising an Irish brewery each week. Kinnegar Brewing is our shoutout this week. Go pick yourself up some Scraggy Bay you beauties. We've also started giving more to our beautiful Patreon supporters by giving an exclusive post-podcast recording called the Síbín where we go a bit looser and talk even more muck. Please support us on patreon.com/snugcast On this episode we chatted about our Christmases and DJ was wondering was there a difference in traditions in households. It has been a very long 4 and a half months. Sobriety doesn't suit me. So, after an accident that struck me out for a bit I teamed up with my partner in crime, and our good friend Tommy Keighery for a night of pints to beat the band in the one and only Phil Grimes. Thanks for sticking with us folks, and for all the kind messages! 2022 is our year. Merry Christmas, happy New Year. May 2022 be full of pints and free of this bastard virus. Le gach dea-ghuí, DJ
DJ and Eoin are hitting the CANS for November. The Candemic is upon us and we've tasked ourselves the amazing job of drinking a can brewed in every county in Ireland (*Ts & Cs apply). This means 32 Counties | 32 Cans | 8 Cans per Week | 4 Cans per Host per Week For Week 1 of this series, we've boxed off some of the cans that we sourced from: Ardkeen Quality Food Store (ardkeen.com), O'Brien's Off-Licence (https://www.obrienswine.ie/), and World Wide Wines (https://www.worldwidewines.ie/) The Cans drank this week are: Beoir Chorca Dhuibhne West Kerry Brewery - Béal Bán Golden Ale 5% | County Kerry Beekon Batches Brewery - Ginger & Lime Honey Refresher 5% | County Louth Crafty Hopster - All Hail Pale Ale 4% | County Waterford Boundary Brewing - American Pale Ale 3.5% | County Down Yellowbelly - Great for the Town Strawberry Kettle Sour 4% | County Wexford BallykilCavan - Brickyard Red Ale 4.2% | Representing County Cavan Galway Bay Brewery - Buried At Sea Milk Stout 4.5% | County Galway Wicklow Wolf in collaboration with DOT Brew - Guardians of the Galaxy Double Black IPA 8% | County Wicklow Don't forget you can help the Snugcast by contacting us about breweries you'd like to see featured or helping us get to those difficult to reach breweries. Hope you enjoy this series, Sláinte.
Pubs, they were back with us for such a fleeting moment. DJ and Eoin are reunited with Tom in Phil Grimes for a quick trip and they recount the tale of how that little adventure went.
DJ and Eoin are joined by Peter from Portlaoise Pub Club and Brian Cahill from the Craic Beer Community to chat about the upcoming challenges the pub industry is facing, and how the irish independent craft beer scene has responded to this mad bag of spiders of a crisis.
DJ, Eoin and Tommy discuss the updated guidelines for lifting lockdown and what this might mean for the consumerism of pints. They discuss the economics of drinking at home vs drinking in the pub in a very unacademic sense and also look at some other hurdles facing businesses reopening.
The lads talk about the past week where lockdown restrictions are easing bit by bit in Ireland, and reflect on The Last Dance, a docuseries for all tastes, even though it centres around a Basketball team form 25 to 20 years ago!
The lads talk zoom fatigue, more cans, drinking at home and a few other bits
