Description
So There's That (Adventures in Transgendering) is a podcast about this crazy transgendered journey I seem to find myself on. Filled with amusing and at times poignant anecdotes from my childhood when I hid my crossdressing from the world, to more recently when, in an epiphany straight from the final stage of Dr. Kübler-Ross's model on death and dying, I finally accepted that I am, in fact, transgendered. On the lighter side, we also talk about storytelling, cooking, obsessions, Doctor Who and how my cat keeps sneaking into podcast recordings despite my best efforts. I am joined by cohost and sidekick, Dante, who is my gender-fluid offspring. Check out the festivities at www.adventuresintransgendering.com -- aviato!

DiG welcomes an old friend, Anna, to the festivities, leading to a wonderful conversation about how we perceive ourselves and how we are perceived by others. Topics include DiG’s previous life as “a guy,” Anna’s white noise tattoo, and DiG’s infamous “Beautiful Mind” wall. We also get several visits from Shadow and plumb the secrets of […]
DiG returns with an update on her “impossible life” in New York City, one year after going public with her transition. A new drivers license, new confidence, old friends, and how to handle questions from relative strangers about her genitalia. Note: When I began transitioning in 2014, I was known by my nickname DiG, which […]
The old house empty. Both kids at college. The cat, well, she’s still trying to find the missing door that leads to our old backyard in our new 10th floor New York City apartment. So join DiG, sans Dante, for an emotional farewell to a life well-lived in Maryland, and a hint at things to come […]
In another sleep-deprived episode, DiG finally moves to NYC and bids a very emotional farewell to Dante. Along the way we encounter tangents (and rants) about the frustratingly challenging move, an equally frustrating drive through New Jersey, and fond reminiscings of Doctor Who and Cardiff. Note: When I began transitioning in 2014, I was known […]
DiG gets a little loopy as this episode gets recorded early morning, only three cups of coffee into her day. Memories of the soon-to-be-vacated townhouse dominate the topic du jour, with side conversations about jars of moles, appropriate hand gestures for woman, stomping down steps, and other womanly experiences. Note: When I began transitioning in […]
You asked for it. More Dante. And that means Bronycon, Bronies, and artistic inspiration. Plus DiG gets misty eyed at the prospect of moving out of the only house Dante has ever known, touching visits from MD/VA/DC friends, and finally making her big move to New York City. Note: When I began transitioning in 2014, […]
DiG discusses her transition after a full year on hormones, how impossible all the progress has been and how she finally feels like a woman. That and a conversation with Dante about what to cut from the podcast, Gencon, hiking the Billy Goat Trail, Jack the Ripper, and how bad guys are at sneaking peeks at women. […]
DiG gets a little existential in discussing how seemingly random events led inexorably to her coming out, and how, through science (!), her future path has already been set in place. That and discussions with Dante about drawing ants, attending Otakon, watching The Third Man, pontificating about Patrick O’Brian, the HMS Victory, Shia LaBeouf and […]
It’s the return of Caitlyn Jenner as DiG and Dante discuss her speech on the ESPYs, and the rampant disrespect displayed towards her by Bob Costas, Peter Berg, D.L. Hughley and Howard Eskin. As you can imagine, DiG goes on a bit of rant, juxtaposing how welcoming (for the most part) NYC has been to […]
In an emotional episode, DiG discusses the nature of hiding being transgender(ed), dealing with pejoratives and death threats, and the joy of “Impossible Day.” Dante counters with details of his trip to Florida (and South of the Border), before getting mired in a tangent about the Parthenon ending up in the British National Museum. Note: When I […]
DiG finally talks about transitioning in public, but first gets sidetracked, along with Dante, by Nazis hawking Jell-O, playing Excite Truck on Wii for an entire freakin’ weekend and the complexities of shooting a simple YouTube video about Feta Salsa. Note: When I began transitioning in 2014, I was known by my nickname DiG, which sufficed […]
DiG and Dante dissect their interview with Forest Rain from the previous episode, but not before discussing DiG’s unsolicited Wolverine script, milk crates, Nazi super cows, and the most expensive items on Amazon. Oh, and DiG debuts a new name (DiG) and URL (www.facebook.com/typingmonkette) for their Facebook page. Note: When I began transitioning in 2014, […]
DiG and Dante welcome their very first guest, the celebrated Brony (and transgender) musician, Forest Rain. Y’know, as in My Little Pony fandom. Among the many topics (and tangents) covered are transitioning, the nature of being looked up to, her song, “Great to Be Different,” and embracing the awkward. Note: When I began transitioning in […]
DiG intends to talk about transitioning in public, but gets sidetracked by news that “So There’s That” has been featured on the UK iTunes main screen. Dante then talks about their impending first guest, spurring a discussion of what to feed podcast invitees, that then leads to a show invite for Weird Al Yankovic. Note: […]
DiG deconstructs the Caitlyn Jenner Vanity Fair kerfuffle, attends a fraternity reunion (dun, dun, DUN!), and invites Alton Brown (Good Eats) to the show. Dante graduates and gets a surprising response from an invited guest. Dig counters with the drama surrounding countless decisions of what to wear to Dante’s graduation. Note: When I began transitioning in […]
DiG discusses the joys of electrolysis, the needles, the exact nature of the pain, and the psychology surrounding the experience. That and binge watching Hannibal with the family. Dante finally finishes Borderlands 2, gets interrupted by the cat, and invites Burnie Burns (Rooster Teeth) to the festivities. Note: When I began transitioning in 2014, I […]
DiG talks about the surprising effects of female hormones and antiandrogens, going to Sephora for the first time and invites Dave Foley (Kids in the Hall) to the show. Dante enthusiastically discusses RGB and CMYK, the transgender banner on our Facebook page and the “seeming” comfort around his gender fluidity. Note: When I began transitioning in […]
DiG discusses the fear inherent in coming out as transgendered to the world, waxes poetic over his new Apple Watch and invites Steven Moffat (Doctor Who) to the podcast. Dante gets an art commission, invites Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls), and tries to clarify details about Forest Rain. Plus DiG’s mailbag and an apology over the […]
Wherein DiG speaks of secrets, such as hiding a stutter for 25 years. Dante gets more fan mail and invites his top two dream guests, Lauren Faust (My Little Pony) and Forest Rain (a transgender(ed) Brony musician). Dig counters with a bra fitting at Nordstrom and a show invite to Bryan Fuller (Hannibal). Lots of […]
Our second podcast episode, wherein our humble host and occasional provocateur, DiG, gets mistaken for Dante’s mom, talks about the Mayor of Portland and pestering Alton Brown. Dante, for his part, shares details on meeting Eddie Izzard, and invites Eddie and Vince Gilligan to appear on the podcast. We end with our first mailbag segment […]
