This week we have the sort of Holiday Edition of the podcast. Or is it the anti Holiday Edition?
Mike started out with his reading and it was about how to deal with the Holidays as people in recovery. Or quite honestly, on any day. There are simple things that we need to do every day to stay sober and that is what we talked about. It was a good conversation.
Then we talked about wild meat, being part of problem, what have we done good this week, scary feelings, overcoming obstacles and learning from them and normies.
There was a also story about drug seeking behavior.
Enjoy the episode.

This week it's your jovial friends, Mike and Bill. Back with some more fun and sober stuff.
Mike started out with his reading and it was about responsibility. Mike heard a lead this week that made him think of this topic and it was a good conversation.
Then we got down to business. We talked about The Fellowship, not wanting help from a higher power, do we set a good example, the quality of our sobriety, and being old.
We also brought some news stories to the table. A runaway husband and perfume that smells like a dive bar. Yes, you read that correctly.
Enjoy the episode.

This week Mike and Bill are back with more nonsense and a few things that may amuse you. Maybe even a couple of words of wisdom? Don't hold your breath.
Mike started out with his reading and it was about tough days and tough moments. What do we do and how do we act? Mike was able to add some insight to this, based on his personal feelings this week.
We talked about some podcast stats, Rosie O'Donnell's daughter, setting standards, wanting what we have, staying sober versus living sober, spiritual awakenings, harboring thoughts, sinful cities and wicked porn.
And stupid attorneys.

This week we have our Gratitude Episode! And it's the 3rd Annual Gratitude Episode. (that makes it sound more special)
Mike started off with his reading and as you may have guessed, it's about gratitude. It talked about not always appreciating what we have and always wanting more, rather than simply enjoying what we have and enjoying the moments. We had a good conversation.
Then on to a variety of topics, such as throbbing treasures, The Steps, perfectionism, Al Pacino, is addiction hereditary, talking too much, are we working a good program, social anxiety, Billy Bob Thornton and finally an article about chickens and cocaine.
Could there be more? Possibly, but you will have to listen and find out.

This week, get ready to be down with the sickness. Mike wasn't feeling 100%, but we know that our feelings don't matter.
Mike started out with his reading and it was about how we build and sustain this new life. We need a foundation and it needs to be solid before we can help others build a new life. It was a good talk.
Our friend Gary celebrated 7 years sober this week, so congrats to him!
We got into a number of topics this week, including drinking differently than others (or better), The Promises, humility, pride, the bottom and acts of charity.
And a shameless plug for a book that Bill wrote. "Modern Day Hobo: A Guide To Living The Airbnb Life." Check out our website and go to the Sponsors Page for more information.
Yep. I think that's it.

Woohoo! It's Mike and Bill again. Back for more nonsense this week.
Mike started out with his reading and it was about love. Yes, love. The ability for us to actually know love, experience it and offer it to others. And the fact that it shows us that there are powers out there that are greater than us. It was a good talk.
Then we chatted about preparing for the Holidays and staying sober, a sober get together, being around drunk people, criticism and judging (it can be a good thing), sensitivity, feelings, a fun insult and arrest stories.
And we shared a news story about a hiker that tried to blame a bear for a guys death. There were a few flaws in his plan and we had some fun with it.

This week we showed up and did the work. Yes, it's Mike and Bill again this week, and join us next week for a big time guest!
Mike started off with his reading and it was about fear and how it used to rule our lives. Today, we can recognize the fear, deal with it in a healthy way and also be there to help others. It was a good conversation.
Then we talked about opinions, beeps, other podcasts, drunk animals, mistakes as gifts, focus, being stagnant, SAD and a little bit about IHOP.
Oh, and a story about a goat. Don't worry, it will make sense.

Guess who's back? Yep, back again. Mike and Bill for another fun filled episode.
Mike started out with his reading and it was about freedom, learning and being open to new ideas. It was a really good reading and made for a great conversation.
Then we were all over the place again. We talked about football, Halloween, the top states for alcohol consumption, internet issues, turn signals, Marc Maron with Keith Urban and Robert Patrick, the 11th Step (we have it all figured out now), lies, excuses, tolerance and understanding.
It was a lot, but we tried to make sense of it all. Or maybe we just had some fun doing it.

Guess who?
It's Mike and Bill this week, bringing you something. What are we bringing you? Listen and find out.
Mike started off with his reading and it was about choosing the people in our lives. Those we spend time with and those we trust. It was a really good conversation.
We had a couple of anniversaries and a birthday to acknowledge, then we chatted about a front man that passed, some travel talk, taking versus receiving, doing The Steps (again) and we even talked a little bit about The Beatles.
And somehow we talked about can openers and vodka. Just listen, it will make sense.

Yep, it's Mike and Bill again this week. We apparently had plenty to talk about, so buckle up.
Mike started with his reading and it was about those that came before us, how we were taught and the responsibility that we have to teach this thing to others. We have had some really great teachers since we got sober and it was a good conversation.
The dad of one of our good friends died this week and we chatted about that. His dad was sober, lived a good life and better yet, died on his own terms. Death is never fun or rosy, but when you have a life well lived, what more can we ask for?
Then there was a travel story, some baseball, stubbornness, therapy and some other muck (the episode title).

This week, it's back to Mike and Bill.
Mike started off with his reading and it was about this thing of ours. This disease that we have and how we perceive it. Do we complain or do we show gratitude? It was a good topic and a great conversation.
Then there were a couple of birthdays to acknowledge, baseball, rodents, Marc Maron, exterminators, The Steps, freedom, ego, some more about gratitude and finally good days versus bad days.
What about nonsense? There was some of that also.

This week we have...
It's Mike and Bill, coming to you from the Land of Cleve! Yep, we are both under the same roof again this week.
Mike started out with his reading and it was about hope and courage. In our active days, we had no hope or courage but today, we get to experience it in a whole new way. It was a good conversation.
Then we chatted about the 10th Step, Moon Zappa, an extreme DUI, having a void in sobriety, wanting to do it all on our own, spiritual experiences and improving our recovery.
Yes there was more. There is always more, but you will just have to listen.

This week we have...
Breeze @_breezexx Back again!
Do you like stories about sobriety? Do you like stories about music and the music industry? Do you like when those things mash together and run parallel?
Well, then this is the episode for you.
We had a great, laid back conversation with our good friend Breeze and talked a little bit about everything. She is young, but mature beyond her years on this earth and beyond her years in sobriety.
It was a great conversation. Enjoy the episode.

This week it's back to the guys in the picture. Yep, it's Mike and Bill this week.
Mike started off with his reading and it was a simple one, but very important to us. Keeping out of our own heads, not focusing on ourselves and accomplishing that by helping others. That should be an easy thing to do, but it takes work. It was a good conversation.
Then we were all over the place. Dr. Sarah wrap up, a podcast and an audio book, a rock 'n' roll show, baby mamas, leading and following, a creepy story, caffeine withdrawal, always and never, things that make us happy and road rage.
We also found out last week that a buddy of ours died. He was at The Keating Center when we were, back in 2010 and he will be missed.

This week we have...
Dr. Sarah! www.DrSarahmichaud.com
She's back! We had her on the podcast for Episode 72 (definitely listen to it if you haven't already) and she was a lot of fun and very informative.
She's become a friend over the last year and we wanted to talk to her again and share what she's been up to.
We talked about recovery, trauma, codependency, relationships, meetings, podcasts and anything else we could think of.
An hour and a half isn't enough time with her and she will definitely be back.

This week it's the comfort and familiarity that can only be brought to you by Mike and Bill.
Mike started off with his reading and it was about kindness. The idea that rude people are the strong ones gets smashed and living a life of kindness is what we strive for. It was a great conversation.
We talked about our language and apparently we are fans of the "F" word. Guess how many we gave last week.
Our search results, Dr. Drew again, a strange encounter at a rest area, making amends, learning to pray and being alone versus being lonely.
We also did a wrap up on Mike's radio gig last week.
Some laughs, some nonsense and just enough talk about sobriety to live up to the title.
Enjoy the episode.

It's Labor Day Weekend with your pals! Yep, it's Mike and Bill again this week.
Mike started out with his reading and it was about happiness and joy. The pursuit of it by us and the happiness and joy that we bring to others when we do the work. It was a good conversation.
We touched a little bit on the Holiday Weekend, but as you all know, it's our opinion that it's just another day on the calendar. If you need to sit it out, that's a good choice.
Then stories from North Carolina, Moon Zappa and Marc Maron, dealing with the crazy, Dr. Drew and William Moyers, and acting in sober ways.
I always know there's more, since we logged 90 minutes, but it will have to be a surprise.

This week, it's just us. Your friends, Mike and Bill.
We did have Dr. Sarah scheduled, but there was a technology issue, so she will be joining us in a few weeks. It will be worth the wait.
Mike picked a random reading and it was about taking care of our minds and bodies now that we are sober. We got rid of the really bad stuff, but now what? We have some work to do, but we are better than we were 15 years ago.
And then we did a plug for Mike's radio gig next week, talked about "complete" honesty, improving silence, recognizing emotions, the early days at the Keating Center and some other podcasts,
Mike also got to rub elbows with a big wig this week. Listen to see what that is all about. And more.

This week it's the can't miss, super spectacular, Season 5 Finale, with Mike and Bill! (or just another episode)
Mike started off with his reading and it was about problems. We all have them and they are a part of life, but our problems today are very different than they were in our drinking days. It was a good talk.
Mike has his radio gig coming up in a couple of weeks, so we chatted about that and stayed tuned for more information.
Then a little more about Dennis Dunaway, Machine Gun Kelly, character defects, happiness, fear, dealing with physical pain when you are sober and is drinking still an option.
I know we hit a few other things, but I have no clue what they were. We filled the time though.
Enjoy the episode.

John M!

Website johnallenmachado.com
John is a writer from Concord, California. He’s been sober since February 27, 2005, after a lot of failed attempts.
He began writing in 2008 and has written four books since, with his newest book “Avocado Andy & Troubadour Tim” published by Quid Mirum Press in May of 2024. It’s a book about acceptance, friendship and love.
If it were not for recovery he would have never began writing.
We had a great conversation with John and right off the bat, we knew that he was speaking our language.
It was an engaging conversation and he has a great story to tell.
