Description

We are a soccer podcast! We are the biggest soccer snobs, and our fearless leader, the CFO of Cap City Beats Kwame Telemaque had heard enough of us wasting our opinions in the parking lot after soccer games and offered us a spot to do a show on his App! We jumped at the chance to give our opinions on all things soccer, but our mandate is to stay AWAY from the news of the day. We talk about things that actually matter, and that don't often get spoken about. So leave the big European news in the dust and come join us on this adventure. You never know what we will end up talking about.

Marc, Steve and Jay are all former varsity soccer players and have been friends for years. They also worked as a trio Coaching the Ottawa Fury PDL Men's Team for 5 years, winning 4 division titles along the way.

What a year Canada soccer has had in 2021! Both the women's and men's teams have achieved so much and perhaps had the best years ever for either program. The Snobs have suffered with Canada in the dark times and are now just beaming with pride for our national teams. The Snobs don't hold back in who they think should be dropped however moving forward in perhaps a controversial opinion. Tune in and feel good about Soccer in Canada!
WHAT an episode for us to close Season 2 with. Kayza Massey from Ghana to Canada and to West Virginia. Kayza’s story is incredible. Adopted by her mother Karen Massey when she was just 2 months old from an orphanage in Ghana. Kayza grew up in Ottawa but played in the U17 World Cup for Ghana, helping them reach the Quarter Finals. She then made the switch to Canada 2 years later and played in another U17 World Cup. From there Kayza has gone from strength to strength making the Canada U20 team and earning a scholarship to NCAA powerhouse West Virginia University. An incredible story that is even better when you actually listen to Kayza talk. Both Marc and Stephen were blown away at her positive attitude and inspiring messages. This is one you can listen to multiple times and is a must listen for any players out there looking to progress in their careers.
Have you ever wanted to talk to a soccer agent to ask him what goes on behind the scenes? Well the Snobs were fortunate to be able to talk to one of the top agents out there in Pranay Kapuria. Pranay works for Sporting Group International and represents 4 Indian National team members amongst others. Pranay was a fascinating interview. Learn the ins and outs of negotiating in this episode along with what really goes on with players, their agents and the clubs. Pranay has spent time with his company in England and represented players there as well. The Snobs also took time after to discuss all that they learnt from Pranay. They also took a turn to the crazy side with Marc once again asking some interesting questions that only he could come up with.
Want to know what it's like to take a penalty in an old firm game? What type of abuse would you get on twitter for playing poorly? Nicky Law joined Rangers at their lowest point and helped drag them up the divisions and back to the premiership. From the lows of drawing at Stranraer to the highs of being Rangers top goal scorer Nicky had an eventful time at Glasgow Rangers. Oh yeah and he has had amazing spells at Bradford City and Motherwell under Stuart McCall his mentor. He now plies his trade for Indy Eleven in the USL. Nicky is calm and cool and an awesome interview.
Jason says farewell to Canada, but not to the Snobs. Jason has moved to Dublin, Ireland where he will teach and coach soccer. We will follow Jason's coaching as well as his sons journey in Europe. What is different and what is the same? In this episode the Snobs say goodbye and get into some really useless conversation lead by Marc asking some of his best questions yet. Don't worry there is lots of soccer talk to keep everyone interested and some strong opinions as usual. Listen and say goodbye to Jason yourself.
Marc Hubbard head coach of perennial top 25 program New Hampshire joins the Snobs. Marc answers all of the Snobs and the listeners questions about getting a scholarship to a Division 1 school. He discusses what to do and what not to do. How to make a proper resume and what to send coaches as far as video’s etc. Where do coaches go to look for players? What are the chances of a full scholarship? What do international students like Canadians need to think about? Why ID Camps at the school really are a good idea. The Snobs couldn’t have asked for a better coach to come on and provide just a wealth of knowledge for those looking to go to the USA and play NCAA soccer. Oh and if you aren’t looking for a scholarship he’s a great listen into the mind of a coach trying to build a winning program. Marc hits on all levels! Enjoy this one.
I don’t think you can find someone more interesting to have on a podcast than Stephen Constantine. He has managed 5 international teams (India, Malawi, Sudan, Rwanda, Nepal), he has coaching licenses from around the globe (FIFA instructor, UEFA Pro License, USSF A, etc.) and he’s managed club teams in Cyprus and Greece to coaching at Millwall. Stephen’s story is amazing and inspiring. Oh, did I mention he has scored a goal in Nepal playing against the Prince and had a goat beheaded as a result? What about watching as his GK coach beat up a pitch intruder? He had over 10,000 fans at the airport as he returned a hero from winning India’s first trophy in years. He watched on as the Millwall chairman dropped $10,000 on the dressing room floor for the players to get a result. Anyone serious about coaching should also listen to this episode as Stephen discusses coaching youth and adult players. Some really good nuggets come from him for those looking to improve as a coach.
Ever wanted to know what it's like to own a massive professional club? Well snob nation here it is! We catch up with Canadian owner of Peterborough United in the English championship! The Snobs finally got a Goalkeeper on the show. Rylee Foster joins the Snobs. What an awesome human being she is, positive, funny and competitive. Rylee is just starting out her career and is going to be a really good one. Already established at Liverpool FC and the Women’s national team. Rylee answers all of our listener questions as well as some of the standard crazy Snob questions. What national team colleague does Rylee choose to play GK if none of the GK’s are available, who would she choose to fly the plane if the pilot suffered a mid flight heart attack and who has a “palm stinging” shot?

A must listen!

Canadian Men's National Team Player David Wotherspoon - The Snobs sit down for a conversation with 2 time cup winner at St. Johnstone Football Club, and recent star of Canada's World Cup qualifying matches David Wotherspoon!  David talks about him obtaining his Canadian passport and how it came to be, about playing under Herdman, and does he use gift cards or just hang onto them in his wallet?  Many hilarious questions about the men's national team camp, and how does Jason pronounce James Rodriguez?? Its absolutely shocking don't miss this episode to find out!
The Snobs aren't a news of the day type Podcast but the Super League is tough to ignore. The Snobs discuss it with a twist from Marc. Also who would the Snobs support IF their teams did join the Super League? International vs club management, what is harder, what would you rather manage? Would the Snobs agree to a NetFlix series following them around while coaching? Oh and a shocking story of a player getting cut, all that and much more! The Snobs had fun with this one.
Sometimes things work out perfectly. The Snobs couldn’t be happier to be releasing our Lewes FC episode today, on the heels of the greedy Super League news. Lewes FC is the exact opposite to these clubs and their greed. Lewes FC is a community owned club with high standards and values. For example both the men’s and women’s teams are paid equally garnering them the nickname Equality FC. They do not take sponsorship from gambling sites and in fact fight corruption in soccer. The club is community owned with the goal of having the most owners in the world. 1 vote 1 person. We were extremely lucky to get the charismatic and elegantly spoken Karen Dobres to join us and speak about the club. Her passion for the club comes out in the episode. Oh and why is their ground called the Dripping Pan???
The Snobs back together on their own this week to talk about managers getting big jobs too soon, One Soccer and is it really good for Canadian soccer, and get into our Over/Under Rated segment!  We also tell some stories about how we have been ripped off and duped by telemarketers or fake websites. All this and a TON more check it out!
