As a lifelong serial procrastinator & achievement addict, my creative pursuits thus far have been an emotional bloodbath to say the least: I used to make creativity as hard, unfun, and exhausting as possible in a [failed] attempt to reduce the anxiety that came with artistically exposing myself, while also trying to guarantee external validation for my "talent" and "potential." Booooo 👎🏽Consistent, public creativity is perhaps the most vulnerable and terrifying thing I could ever do, and I deserve to feel safe and supported while I do it. So, let's kiss those old self-punishing ways goodbye and instead prioritize rest, find pleasure, and embrace uncertainty in the creative process. THIS is how we start to see ourselves as creators and re-imagine what is possible for us⚔️🌸🔮🌸⚔️And we can do all of this as we look Suffering, The Passage of Time, and The Inherent Meaninglessness of Reality straight in the eyes, spitting some of our fluid creativity in death's face ☠️💋💦###Things I mentioned in this podcast:👉🏽The "Why I'm Bad At Finishing" graph I was talking about (check out the whole video, "A Procrastinator's Guide to Finishing Things," and peep Struthless's other videos about creativity, perfectionism, procrastination, self-sabotage, etc. -- they're brilliant and beautifully done and v helpful!)⭐My Instagram⭐ (it would mean a lot if you could dm me your fav idea from this ep/what you liked about the episode)Friends I talked about:👉🏽Greg Golden and his hilariously punny Twitter account👉🏽Jonathan Pamplin (he said the thing about stretching your legs after a long time of not moving)👉🏽Hilarious, smart, and soulful friends who were more briefly (but honorably) mentioned: Elaine Golden (comedian), Holly Frost (comedian), Monica Socarras (not a formal comedian but legit funnier than 95% of practicing stand-up comics), Maxine Rivera (ditto), Aleiya Evison (brilliant designer, but could easily be a comedian), and Kelsi Macaluso (actress, but very funny and could also be a comedian if she were a little bit more maladjusted -- check our her hilarious insta reels)###Here's how to not miss the next episode, since it most definitely will not be on a schedule of any kind 🙃:Spotify: hit that "Follow" button right underneath the "Soft Girl Radio" logo on the podcast pageApple Podcasts: hit the "+" button in the upper right-hand corner above the "Soft Girl Radio" logo on the podcast page
