Trent Dalton is one of Australia’s most celebrated storytellers – a journalist-turned-bestselling author whose debut novel Boy Swallows Universe became a global phenomenon that leapt from page to Netflix and the stage. Now he’s back with Gravity Let Me Go, a novel he calls his most personal yet. In this episode, Trent opens up about the impact that the success of Boy Swallows Universe had on his family, why living with him isn’t always the love story readers might imagine, the lessons fatherhood keeps teaching him, and the unfiltered message he has for Australian men. Along the way, he shares the small, grounding moments – like wandering his local supermarket in a hi-vis vest – that remind him where the real stories begin. Trent Dalton’s new novel, Gravity Let Me Go, is published by HarperCollins Australia on September 30.  Watch the full episode with Trent Dalton here.  Something To Talk About is a podcast by Stellar, hosted by Sarrah Le Marquand  Find more from Stellar via Instagram @stellarmag or stellarmag.com.auSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
It’s been a month since actor Miranda Tapsell gave birth to her son Vincent, adding to an already busy household that also includes her husband James and their three-year-old daughter Grace. But Miranda hasn’t really had the chance to take parental leave, since she’s also busy welcoming another baby of sorts into the world: Top End Bub, an eight-part TV series four years in the making that explores parenthood and kinship in ways rarely seen on Australian screens. In this episode, Miranda opens up about the joy and chaos of her growing family, how her upbringing as an only child being raised by a “village” in the Northern Territory influenced her approach towards motherhood, the power of a good rom-com, and why she refuses to wait for permission to tell the stories she knows the world needs to see. Jelena Dokic became one of the biggest names in tennis as a teenager, reaching world No.4 and defeating some of the sport’s top players. And in the years since leaving the court, she has spoken openly and powerfully about surviving family violence, struggling with mental health and navigating body shame – from others and herself.  In this episode, Jelena discusses her recent Logie win for Unbreakable: The Jelena Dokic Story, her work advocating for young women in a new campaign with World Vision, and – on the first Father’s Day since his death earlier this year – her “complicated” grief around the late Damir Dokic, from whom she had been estranged for a decade. She also talks about going public with her new relationship, and explains how she reached a place of greater confidence and self-acceptance: “I could easily say I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.” To find out more about World Vision's 1,000 Voices For 1,000 Girls campaign, or to sponsor a girl before International Day of the Girl on October 11, visit www.worldvision.com.au  Watch the full episode with Jelena Dokic here.   Something To Talk About is a podcast by Stellar, hosted by Sarrah Le Marquand  Find more from Stellar via Instagram @stellarmag or stellarmag.com.auSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

As the woman who’s been dubbed “breakfast TV’s greatest survivor”, Natalie Barr has woken up with the nation for more than two decades — all while building a life with her husband and raising two sons. Yet she insists she’s far more interested in what’s coming up on next week’s Sunrise than in celebrating milestones or reflecting on just how far she’s come. In this episode, Nat takes a rare moment to look back — on the highs and lows of a stable, successful marriage and a long-running media career, and on how she’s adjusting to life as an empty nester. Plus, she opens up on the unique partnership she’s built with her work husband, Matt Shirvington - and shares an update on a few of her former on-air co-hosts including David Koch and Samantha Armytage. When Glennon Doyle was diagnosed with anorexia in her 40s, her wife Abby was grieving the sudden death of her brother, and her sister Amanda had just been diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a year that brought all three of them to their knees — and became the unlikely foundation for their new book, We Can Do Hard Things. In this episode, Glennon opens up about what it means to keep showing up when the people you usually rely on are struggling, too. We talk about the power of friendship, the myth of having it all together, and the moment Glennon stopped hiding her illness — even on the red carpet. She reflects on visibility, activism, and why the most honest people often feel like the biggest messes. And for the first time, Glennon reveals how she felt when she saw Ivanka Trump holding a copy of her book Untamed in an Instagram post. Raw, wise and unexpectedly funny – just like this conversation is a reminder that none of us are doing this alone. This week, Sarrah sits down with Alex Cullen for his first interview since the controversial “Lambo guy” incident that resulted in his departure from Today and Nine Network — as he exclusively reveals his plans for the future. In January, after he took up an offer from Melbourne-based billionaire Adrian Portelli, Alex found himself in the middle of a media storm that sparked national headlines. Now, in a raw and reflective conversation, he opens up about the personal and professional fallout, the toll it took on his mental health, and how close he came to walking away from the industry altogether. He talks about starting over — with a big move to Melbourne for him and his family, a new radio role on The Christian O’Connell Show, and in a Stellar exclusive, the announcement of his return to TV with Seven News. This is a story about public fallout, private resilience, and what it takes to start again… when the whole country is watching. Alex begins tomorrow on The Christian O'Connell Show weekdays from 6am and weeknights from 7PM on GOLD104.3  Watch the full episode with Alex here.  Something To Talk About is a podcast by Stellar, hosted by Sarrah Le Marquand Find more from Stellar via Instagram @stellarmag or stellarmag.com.auSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
It’s easy to be sceptical about reality TV romances. But sometimes, they just work. Take Laura Byrne and Matty J, who met and fell in love on The Bachelor Australia in 2017 – and are now one of the country’s most popular couples. In this episode of Something To Talk About, Laura and Matty sit down just weeks out from welcoming their third child to discuss – with humour, honesty and, yes, a bit of exhaustion – how they are revamping traditional gender roles as they raise their young family.Laura explains what it’s like being the primary breadwinner, and Matty opens up about modern fatherhood and – with a third daughter on the way – the reality that he may never raise the son he always envisaged he would have. From baby name slip-ups to beach house renos, this is a surprisingly moving conversation with two people who are doing marriage and family their own way. For the first time in history, six of the seven Gold Logie nominees are women – and all of them are over the age of 40.  In this special episode of Something To Talk About, three of those nominees – Sonia Kruger, Ally Langdon and Lynne McGranger – sit down together for a lively conversation about everything from how they feel about being part of the game-changing line-up vying for television's biggest prize to what it has taken them to achieve lasting success in their chosen careers. What they reveal is insightful, instructive and reflective. It's also funny, especially when they start to consider what they all might do if Hamish Blake, the lone male nominee in their category, ends up taking out the win... Australia’s biggest beauty mogul, Shelley  Sullivan, has built three powerhouse businesses from the ground up. At just 21, she launched a boutique modelling agency. While working with models, Shelley spotted beauty fails like DIY lash-curling burns and patchy self‑tans – which led to her first beauty innovation: a heated lash curler, then “tan‑in‑a‑can”, and the birth of her first brand, ModelCo. In 2016, Shelley targeted another gap: luxe-looking beauty at mass-market prices. MCoBeauty launched with 12 products, scaled to hundreds, and earlier this year was sold in a deal valuing the company at  $1 billion. In this episode of Something To Talk About, Shelley opens up about building – and exiting – a billion-dollar beauty empire, trusting her instincts amid doubt, and life after the headlines.   Watch the full episode with Shelley here.  Follow Shelley on Instagram here. This week on Something To Talk About, Laura Henshaw joins Sarrah Le Marquand for a powerful and deeply personal conversation, as she celebrates and talks about her just-announced pregnancy. It was, as Laura says, “a complete shock” that came after a year of questioning whether motherhood was even right for her.  Today, Laura reflects on the fears she worked through as she grappled with whether becoming a parent would mean losing her sense of identity, the emotional moment she shared the news with her business partner Steph Claire Smith, and the unsolicited commentary she’s received about her body along the way. Plus, Laura speaks out on the rise of “manosphere” content online and why she felt compelled to challenge a podcaster who she believes was promoting outdated gender roles – a decision that would take her viral and spark a national conversation.  Laura also discusses her new KicPod miniseries Am I Equal?, which explores the importance of informed conversations about finances, power, and partnership in modern relationships. Find the KicPod miniseries Am I Equal? wherever you get your podcasts. Being investigated by the Australian Electoral Commission was not on Abbie Chatfield’s bingo card for 2025. But after interviewing Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and then Greens leader Adam Bandt on her podcast It’s A Lot, Abbie found herself at the centre of several conversations about the recent federal election campaign. In fact, some days it seemed there were more headlines written about Abbie than there were about Anthony Albanese or Peter Dutton.   Today, Abbie sits down with Sarrah in the Something To Talk About studio to unpack her decision to speak out about politics – and the double standards at play when it’s a young, famous woman who dares to do so. She also talks about life and love as she prepares to turn 30, what it’s like to be in the middle of a very public feud, and whether or not we might see her mum on The Golden Bachelor…   You can hear more from Abbie Chatfield on It’s A Lot, wherever you get your podcasts.  Watch the full episode with Abbie here.  Something To Talk About is a podcast by Stellar, hosted by Sarrah Le Marquand Find more from Stellar via Instagram @stellarmag or stellarmag.com.auSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Sarah Roberts has been through more than most people in the last five years. The actor and DJ lost her brother in 2019, grappled with infertility and pregnancy loss and last year, ended her marriage to her former Home And Away co-star James Stewart. In this exclusive conversation, Sarah joins us in the Something To Talk About studio to discuss what her life looks like now, reveal that she has found love again, and discuss how appearing in Make It Look Real, a new documentary about the rise of intimacy coordinators on film and television sets, taught her how to finally set boundaries — and in the process, changed her life for the better.  This episode touches upon pregnancy loss. The disappearance of three-year-old William Tyrrell - the little boy in the Spider-Man suit who vanished from his foster grandmother’s garden - is a case that shocked the nation, destroyed lives and ended careers. More than 10 years later, we still don’t have answers.  Award-winning journalists Dan Box and Nina Young have been covering the story since William first went missing in September 2014. Late last year, they released the investigative podcast Witness: William Tyrrell, which went straight to the top of the charts and has since had millions of downloads. Now, after months of research, being back on the road and speaking to people involved in the case, four new episodes are about to be released revealing shocking information that’s never been heard before.  In this episode of Something To Talk About, Dan and Nina join Sarrah in the studio to share the reality of what it was like to create the series, the personal toll of investigating true crime - and what they’ve uncovered along the way.   Listen to the four new episodes of Witness: William Tyrrell, out this week.  Watch the full episode with Dan Box and Nina Young here.    Something To Talk About is a podcast by Stellar, hosted by Sarrah Le Marquand Find more from Stellar via Instagram @stellarmag or stellarmag.com.au  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
