She really though this baby would be better off dead than alive with her or fostered or adopted by a happy family?

Trauma bonding is not bonding over trauma. it's an abuser maintaining an unhealthy bond with their victim.

I appreciate Dara for having the courage to talk about this! it's unbelievable how something so disturbing happened to her and later her sister... :( I'm so happy she seems to be a Christian and had God's love and strength get her through this.

women are conditioned to "feel safe" in any number of potentially lethal situations, and then to believe that their perceptions, experiences, and realities are just "feelings". there is a difference in "feeling safe" in your own home and actually being safe; "feeling listened to" and actually being protected as if your life mattered.

I think I missed something. She said that she saw his mugshot and he didn't look anything like the picture she had in her head. She didn't even know he wasn't white. Didn't she physically meet him on their first date when she told him the story about her one night stand?

In response to previous opinions, I have to say that doulas deserve to be compensated for their time and work like anyone else. Also, the name of this podcast is Something Was Wrong... about unexpected situations that come up and that activate a sense of something just not feeling right. However, goodhearted people don't generally expect to be tricked, used, and manipulated and that is exactly what makes them vulnerable to schemes and confirmation bias.

Heidi reminds me a bit of a former friend who turned into such a monster when she was off medication- paranoia, insecurity, stalking, spreading rumors. Glad she got away! We can all do better without people like this eating up our energy.

I’m so sorry to say this because I get it’s hard to be with a jerk but it just sounds like she continuously made stupid choices repeatedly and now blames everything on him. You have accountability in this whole situation as well. Everybody has a bad relationship in their life. This is nothing like the Jake season, THAT was true craziness and a narcissist.

I am very impressed with the dude's one friend. I shouldn't be, because it is the kind of decency that everyone should have. I am very impressed with the tinder woman too. what she did was also decency and kindness.

Jesus WOULD forgive you for that, but he doesn't care about that. he's just desperately trying to avoid accountability.

I can't imagine how hard it would be to retell this situation with so much detail! (Who cares if the story is read very detailed, which is brave) Bravo for coming forward with this! I am so sorry for the lost of Jace!!

A useful podcast for identifying various types of abuse and toxicity. I just can't listen to several episodes consecutively without feeling emotionally tired and depressed, especially that whole season with Patty and Victoria!

This was hard to listen to. I had difficulty believing any person could be this dumb and believe the ridiculous explanations this shithead would give her, ignoring everything he was doing. That's how they turn us into "that person".
