It's Chriisstmaaassss! And yess! Love - Lust - Actually, honestly is all around. In this movie at least. It's a classic, a cultural icon, a staple in many's Christmas viewing and tradition. And it's actually, shite! Hugh Grant's opening monologue is infamous, but did he have to mention 9/11? And call his secretary / love interest fat all the time? And what about Alan Rickmans character, that's not about love! Or the guy that goes to America? That's just straight up lust! Anyway... anyway... we hope you all have a fantastic Christmas and New Year. We will be BACK! With more cringe, more guff, and more rogues. Thank you so much to all that have listened in 2023, we hope to have your ears again in 2024. Well, it's still in the theme of Halloween. And why not cover this cult-classic Tim Burton horror film? From the dunes of Arrakhis to middle America, this film is a fucking ride. A personal favourite of Claude and Abby's. Swanny tries to grapple with the emotions of this film, while not imploding by wanting MORE Beetlejuice. Come along! And get involved with the Beurocracy after Death... Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sorryidontpodcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@sorryidontyoutubechannel/videos
It's sexy. It's lustful. It's violent. It's kinda spooky. It's a wee bit of a mess. Bram Stoker's Dracula... If you couldn't already tell, Sorry I Don't have a real affinity to Vampires. It's kind of ridiculous. Which goes hand-in-hand with this film. And perhaps all Vampire films in general! With a star-studded cast, this film is like marmite. You either love it, or you hate it. And that's what Claude, Abby, and Swanny are here to decide on! Here ushers in, the spooky October vibes! What is there to say about Tall Girl... Netflix, start making better films, eh. Our discussion today focuses on how being tall isn't an issue. Jodie, the main character, isn't even that tall. American High School movie tropes are ridiculous. Foreign exchange students? Does this even happen in real life? And carrying a milk crate around as your backpack... shocking! Honestly, this film is ridiculous. It's like a Hallmark version of High School Musical, without all the things that make High School Musical a great film. Spooky scary... CGI? Claude isn't convinced. But Abby and Swanny love it! Abby tells the tale of how she got into trouble showing this to her pals at a birthday party when she was ten. While Swanny regales the days he used to have dreams about watching The Mummy... meanwhile Claude had already watched The Exorcist and Dog Soldiers - before she was five. No wonder she's not convinced. But maybe you are! So come along to Egypt, and watch some slap-stick comedy unfold. The wacky misadventures of American / British colonialism. As Claude's dad said "Highlander was dated as soon as it was released." - Not far from the truth at all. In this weeks episode, Claude, Abby and Swanny discuss and analyse the ridiculous notions of highlander. From Sean Connery, playing an Spaniard from Egypt, to Christopher Lambert not knowning how to speak English until only a few months before shooting. They all lose their minds when the ending is revealed to be mortality for the originally immortal Highlander. Not that he ever really "was" immortal. Just chop is fat heed off. The Kurgin, aka Mr Krabs, is for most of the film, it's saving grace. And no, it has nothing to do with Aliens... It's the vibes. It's the characters. It's the dancing. It's the pimping of young up-and-coming Ivy League graduates so that you can sustain the transfer of wealth from poorer communities to the elite. It's Dirty Dancing everyone! Watch the gang have a sexy dance time, and review one of Abby's favourite films of all time. While uncovering the dark and twisted plot of Kellerman, the resorts owner. You DON'T want to miss it! HI BARBIE! This week's episode is set in Barbie-land, don't we all wish it was real... well it certainly comes to life in Barbie. Jovial, fun, not taking itself too seriously, but with a deep and powerful overarching meaning. No, I'm not talking about the Sorry I Don't podcast. But thanks for suspecting that we're that complex. From Swanny singing "I'm just Swan"... to Claude and Abby discussing their weird Barbies, this episode is a HOOT! BYE BARBIE! SORRY I DON'T IS BACK! Making its second debut with the second Twilight film! New Moon. Claude, Abby, and Swanny take the absolute living piss out of Jacob and make which team they're on very known. No one is safe from a slagging in this film, it's shocking! Hopefully, you enjoy this first episode back, there's a bunch more to come! Things get heated in this discussion of Butt (Burr) Steers 17 Again. Claude, Abby and Swanny literally nearly tear their hair out over the weirdness and incestual nature of this "teen" flick. Janitor spirit guides, and the glow down of Zac Effron to Matthew Perry. Swanny's marbles being thrown out the window, in sheer rage and frustration at how bad this film is. Claude, and Abby loosely keep it together in the run down of the plot. An all time favourites for Abby becomes a conversation about how often Claude would have to play as Velma when she was younger. Swanny eats a real life Scooby snack, and Abby tells a story about meeting her first boyfriends parents and wanting to watch Scooby Doo.What's not to love about good auld Scooby!
This week Claude takes us through a childhood favourite of hers, Whitney Housten and Kevin Costners Bodyguard! With the swooning love songs being belted out by Whitney, and Kevin's, to be quite frank, shocking acting we go beat-for-beat in the crazy world of 90s Hollywood. Who's trying to kill Whitney? Why can't her son swim despite their massive pool? Why did Kevin let Nixen get shot? All will be revealed...
We're back just in time for Christmas! It's the annual discussion of how HORRIBLE Kevin's family are too him, and how despite leaving him Home Alone they really couldn't give less of a fuck! Claude, Abby and Swanny get into a deep debate on how many times the Wet Bandits should've died, and ponder just how deep and malicious Kevin's mind really is. So gather round, and cosy up, while we discuss one of the most wholesome winter stories ever made!
Welcome back! Finally... to the "weekly" podcast Sorry I Don't. Today we're reviewing and analysing, with a fine-tooth-comb, the juke-box musical Mama Mia. A feel-good film starring every classic big name you can think of, including of course Meryl Streep. Who for the sake of this episode has been affectionately named Mental Streak. The gang's views differ slightly throughout this episode, but they can all agree at the very least, that ABBA are fantastic!
500 Days of Spummer. What is Spum? Find out in this weeks episode reviewing the cult-classic rom-com 500 Days of Summer. Swanny regales us of loves past. Claude regales us of loves present. And Abby regales us on loves future. The Dune we all don't know, and don't love. David Lynch's 1984 takes on one of the most seminal pieces of sci-fi literature ever. A novel that captured the imaginations and theorising for generations to come. That set in motion the importance of sci-fi, and how it can be just as nerdy as it is a social commentary on what is happening in the world around us. An analysis of religious texts, prophesies, capitalism, and the ideas of legacy and integrity. A giant in it's field. As complex as it is deep and mysterious. Who better to take on such a deep, complex narrative, interweaving dreams of past and future events, than David Lynch? Right?.... Literally anyone else. Listen to our thoughts, as we try and scramble through the Dune plotline without getting too bogged down in detail. Watch Abby try and grapple with Paul's storyline, already bizarre and fusing real life and biblical prophies, made even more confusing by Lynch's directing and script. We hope you enjoy!
Abby's favourite film. Empire Records. It's time to enter the most over employed record store on the planet. From meeting super famous singers, to a robbery at gun point. And yet... nothing happens in this film!
The rogues are absolutely FLYING in this episode. There hasn't been more of a unanimously voted rogue ever, the Tory magician who's daughter calls him by his first name, and her priest - daddy. It's mental. You'll just have to tune in to find out who we're talking about. And if you've already seen Truly, Madly, Deeply, you'll know exactly what's coming next! I look at my right arm. I look at my left... There's a spot of gravy on my plate... YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@sorryidontyoutubechannel Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sorryidontpodcast/
Try and explain this plot within an hour and a half. Could you imagine the Sorry I Don't podcast doing that? Never. WRONG! They did it. Kind of. Come along the journey of discovering Jesus's wee daughter Sophie. Princess Sophie. Or Sophia. Who cares! It's too complex!
