Listen to this episode and you could have the equivalent of a record label team, graphic designer and collaborative partner all within a few clicks! In part 2 of our AI special, me and my guest, AI Consultant Alex Keyter, go through ten tools you can start using today to boost your music career, from separating stems to writing riffs, making merch and so much more. And the best part is, most of these tools are FREE to try! We also discuss why creatives and musicians are often fearful of AI, how the technology is going to revolutionise the industry and what this all means for independent artists.
In the first of a two-part AI special, I'm joined by Alex Keyter, AI Consultant and Founder of Generative Minds, to discuss the impact of this rapidly emerging technology, how AI will transform the music industry over the next few years, and some of the ethical concerns around copyright and the infamous Ghostwriter "Fake Drake" track Heart on my Sleeve. In part-two, out next week, we'll talk about the tools independent artists can start using TODAY to skyrocket your music career by giving you the productive capacity of a record label team from your laptop. πŸ”— ALEX KEYTER: πŸ“Έ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/alex-keyter/ 🧠 Generative Minds: genminds.co.uk/ Β  Β  πŸ”— JOIN OUR COMMUNITY OF ARTISTS: www.instagram.com/soundadvicepod/ Β  πŸ™ LEAVE A REVIEW If you enjoyed the podcast, we'd love for you to leave a 5-star review wherever you listen to help others discover the show :)

How is social media changing in 2024? All the way from Brooklyn, New York, I'm joined by music trend forecaster Gui Goldschmied to talk about how artists can thrive on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. We talk about the continued growth of sped-up songs, the psychology behind their popularity, and whether you should take a leaf out of SZA's book and release sped-up versions of your music onto streaming services. We also talk about how viral trends like the infamous "song of the summer" are dying out, the content that's starting to work instead, and how to make promoting your music fun and effective instead of feeling like a chore. πŸ”— GUI GOLDSCHMIED: πŸ“Έ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/not_gui Β  Β  πŸ”— JOIN OUR COMMUNITY OF ARTISTS: www.instagram.com/soundadvicepod/ Β  πŸ™ LEAVE A REVIEW If you enjoyed the podcast, we'd love for you to leave a 5-star review wherever you listen to help others discover the show :)
Pop is the most popular music genre (it's in the name) but its one of the hardest to find in small independent music scenes like Liverpool. Why is that? To find out, I spoke to Pop in the Pool founder Giorgia Bortoli, who's trying to change just that. We spoke about why Pop is perceived as less authentic, how she performs with backing tracks, dealing with anti-pop bias from promoters and how she's building her own Pop music community in Liverpool by putting on her own gigs. πŸ”— POP IN THE POOL: πŸ“Έ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/popinthepool/ 🎡 Apply to Play: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdvkP2f3bNlEaUMDyOavixAoCXZO9GjPGqYw7K0DwRDcMpVng/viewform Β  Β  πŸ”— JOIN OUR COMMUNITY OF ARTISTS: www.instagram.com/soundadvicepod/ πŸ™ LEAVE A REVIEW If you enjoyed the podcast, we'd love for you to leave a 5-star review wherever you listen to help others discover the show :)

On the 10th of April, the ReMap report, detailing the experiences of Black music makers and industry professionals within the Liverpool City Region and making recommendations to pioneer change, was released to the public. In collaboration with the Liverpool City Region Music Board, I was invited to record the panel discussion held as part of the report's launch event at District. The panel was hosted by BBC Radio Merseyside's Ngunan Adamu, and features creative consultant Yaw Owusu, Black Lives in Music ambassador Mica Sefia, UK Music's Head of Diversity Eunice Obianagha, and the Liverpool City Region Race Equality Hub's Emy Onuora & Brodie Arthur. They discuss why Liverpool's music scene needs to be more inclusive, how the success of Black artists in Liverpool goes uncelebrated, what needs to change and the wonderful diversity of Black British music. Paul McCartney. Alicia Keys. Sting. Noel Gallagher. These are just some of the names that been guests on the Sodajerker on Songwriting podcast, a show that dives into the craft of songwriting hosted by Simon Barber and Brian O’Connor, who are my guests in this episode. We explore how the decade-long podcast got started, the best songwriting advice they got from Paul McCartney, tools to overcome writers block and even how their episode started an argument with Liam and Noel Gallagher. The Sodajerker on Songwriting podcast is one of the first I ever listened to and is one of the biggest inspirations behind Sound Advice, so it was a pleasure to have them on the show and turned into one of my favourite episodes yet. Everything from releasing a single, to playing a cover at a gig, or even writing a song with a mate is subject to music law, and if you don’t have a basic understanding of it, you can easily get exploited. That’s why I sat down with again with Grace Goodwin, an artist mentor at Future Yard and an expert in music law, to make all things legal a LOT less complicated. Β  We talk about the different relationships artists need contracts for, how record deals really work, how to claim extra income with music publishing, how to avoid dodgy deals and why you should make your friends sign a contract when you write a song together. I know that last one sounds crazy but if you hear her out it makes a lot of sense.
