In the 11th Canto of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (11.5.36), Karabhājana Muni gives us the essence of advice about yajña. He says: kalim sabhājayanty āryā guṇa-jñā sāra-bhāginaḥ yatra saṅkīrtanenaiva sarva-svārtho 'bhilapyate He says, in the Kali-yuga age, people who are intelligent understand the purpose of life. Kalim—in Kali (check your watch and see if it’s Kali-yuga; they have that on the new Apple Watch, you can push a button and see what yuga it is!). Kalim sabhājayanti āryāḥ—the āryas, those who are high thinkers, they understand a principle that you can apply today. They are sāra-bhāginaḥ. They know what the nectar, or the essence of life, is; they know how to extract the value of this life. Don't be tricked by false promises in the material world. We cannot be successful by material adjustment; it only creates more anxiety. But we can be successful through spiritual knowledge and technology. So, in Kali-yuga—check and see—kalim sabhājayanti sāra-bhāginaḥ yatra saṅkīrtanena sarva-svārtho 'bhilapyate. Sarva means "all" and artha means "all your necessities, all your desires." Abhilapyate—they can all be perfectly fulfilled. Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu showed by example how to have a successful life. And He was here recently in geological time; He was here only "five seconds" ago. "Here" means right here in Madurai. He came here twice, and He showed how to be a successful human being, a sukhi nara. Everyone say: sukhi nara. It sounds Japanese, but actually it is sanskrit! Sukhi nara means "happy human." Who wants to be a sukhi nara? Okay, only half said yes! Then Karabhājana Muni reveals Lord Caitanya’s purpose in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam even before Lord Caitanya appeared, and that is to use this life for sacrifice (yajña). Someone may say, "Well, how should I perform the sacrifice? Should I get lots of ghee and grains and build a yajña-śālā that will light up the sky and pour all the ghee and grains into the fire? Shall I go to the Himalayas and find a cave in which I can meditate? Shall I build a gigantic temple made of stone with 400 spires on top?" Karabhājana Muni says, "Perform this sacrifice." Check and see: is it still Kali-yuga? If it is Kali-yuga, then he says: perform saṅkīrtana. It means to congregationally chant the names of God. Caitanya Mahāprabhu learned this from His spiritual master: harer nāma harer nāma harer nāmaiva kevalam kalau nāsty eva nāsty eva nāsty eva gatir anyathā Just take shelter of the process of saṅkīrtana, and give everyone else an opportunity to take this process. Chant Hare Kṛṣṇa and teach it to everybody. By way of spreading the saṅkīrtana, we should also distribute transcendental literature, because it is "written kīrtana" that will transform the world. When we are engaged in the yajña for the age fully, we can overcome the inconveniences and the troubles of the Kali-yuga age. We can also attain the goal of life .------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #
Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued: My dear King, the chanting of the holy name of the Lord is able to uproot even the reactions of the greatest sins. Therefore the chanting of the saṅkīrtana movement is the most auspicious activity in the entire universe. Please try to understand this so that others will take it seriously. In fact, one of Prabhupāda’s godbrothers had said many years ago—just after Prabhupāda had left that Prabhupāda was an āveśa, or an empowered person, to spread Kṛṣṇa consciousness all over the world. One of the devotees asked this godbrother, who was a well-wisher of Prabhupāda, 'What kind of āveśa?' And he said, 'Nityānanda-āveśa'—especially empowered by Nityānanda to spread Kṛṣṇa consciousness all over the world. Otherwise, how could he have come as a great ācārya and sat by himself for one year in New York City and tolerated the cold and then the heat and then just the culture shock? When he started teaching Kṛṣṇa consciousness to others, they had no idea, did the young people who he was or what anything meant. In fact, so much so that they would come, have a feast, go home, and leave everything for Prabhupāda to clean up, not thinking that maybe we should help. But one day they did, and they got service, and then devotees began to make advancement in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. So we have this opportunity, being under the shelter of Śrīla Prabhupāda and the movement in which we're worshiping Lord Nitāi and Gaurāṅga. In the pastimes of Lord Nityānanda and Lord Caitanya, we find that it is especially beneficial to chant the names of Nitāi and Caitanya, because They do not consider any offenses. When we chant, “Śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya prabhu-nityānanda śrī-advaita gadādhara śrīvāsādi-gaura-bhakta-vṛnda,” and then chant, “Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare; Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare,” we can very quickly make advancement in devotional service. When we were visiting recently in Navadvīpa-dhāma, the place of Dhameśvara Mahāprabhu, we had a big kīrtana on our yātrā. There were some māyāvādī sannyāsīs there who were watching us. And when we chanted Hare Kṛṣṇa, they didn't dance, and they didn't open their mouths to chant. (there were no masks back then, so we could tell!) Then we started to sing this next song about Lord Caitanya, Nityānanda, and their unlimited mercy. And then they went wild, and they started dancing and singing. So this is the benefit of singing Nitāi and Gaurāṅga, because Lord Nityānanda is so merciful that He doesn't consider any offenses and anybody can enter into the process of Kṛṣṇa consciousness under the shelter of Nitāi and Gaurāṅga. This is the song... ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #nityananda #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritu
(1) jaya rādhā-mādhava kuñja-bihārī gopī-jana-vallabha giri-vara-dhārī (2) yaśodā-nandana braja-jana-rañjana yāmuna-tīra-vana-cārī TRANSLATION 1) Krsna is the lover of Radha. He displays many amorous pastimes in the groves of Vrndavana, He is the lover of the cowherd maidens of Vraja, and the holder of the great hill named Govardhana. 2) He is the beloved son of mother Yasoda, the delighter of the inhabitants of Vraja, and He wanders in the forests along the banks of the River Yamuna! Remarks: Srila Prabhupada was very fond of this sort and sang it just before his lectures. In Allahabad and Gorakhpur, Srila Prabhupada fell into a trance after singing the first two lines, and after some time he came back into external consciousness and said, "Now just chant Hare Krsna." Srila Prabhupada said that this song is "a picture of Vrndavana. Everything is there--Srimati Radharani, Vrndavana, Govardhana, Yasoda, and all the cowherd boys." They are the essence of all incarnations. The specific significance of these incarnations is that They introduced a process of chanting and dancing that is simply joyful. 2) My dear brother, I request that you just worship Lord Caitanya and Nityananda with firm conviction and faith. If one wants to be Krsna conscious by this process, one has to give up his engagement in sense gratification. One simply has to chant, "Hare Krsna! Hari Hari!" without any motive. 3) My dear brother, just try and examine this. Within the three worlds there is no one like Lord Caitanya or Lord Nityananda. Their merciful qualities are so great that upon hearing Them even birds and beasts cry and stones melt. 4) But Locana dasa regrets that I am entrapped by sense gratification. Since I have no attraction for the lotus feet of Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityananda, then Yamaraja, the superintendent of death, is punishing me by not allowing me to be attracted by this movement.- ----------------------------------------------------------- To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #kirtan #spiritualsongs #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
While in Seattle in the fall of 1968, Śrīla Prabhupāda introduced for the first time this song to be sung during the evening ārati ceremony. GAURA-ĀRATI by Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura (1) jaya jaya gorācānder ārotik śobhā jāhnavī-taṭa-vane jaga-mana-lobhā (2) dakhiṇe nitāicānd, bāme gadādhara nikaṭe adwaita, śrīnivāsa chatra-dhara (3) bosiyāche gorācānd ratna-siṁhāsane ārati koren brahmā-ādi deva-gaṇe (4) narahari-ādi kori’ cāmara ḍhulāya sañjaya-mukunda-bāsu-ghoṣ-ādi gāya (5) śaṅkha bāje ghaṇṭā bāje bāje karatāla madhura mṛdaṅga bāje parama rasāla (6) bahu-koti candra jini’ vadana ujjvala gala-deśe bana-mālā kore jhalamala (7) śiva-śuka-nārada preme gada-gada bhakativinoda dekhe gorāra sampada TRANSLATIONS (1) All glories, all glories to the beautiful ārati ceremony of Lord Caitanya! This Gaura-ārati is taking place in a grove on the banks of the Jāhnavī [Ganges] and is attracting the minds of all living entities in the universe. (2) On Lord Caitanya’s right side is Lord Nityānanda, and on His left is Śrī Gadādhara. Nearby stands Śrī Advaita, and Śrīvāsa Ṭhākura is holding an umbrella over Lord Caitanya’s head. (3) Lord Caitanya has sat down on a jeweled throne, and the demigods, headed by Lord Brahmā, perform the ārati ceremony. (4) Narahari Sarakāra and other associates of Lord Caitanya fan Him with cāmaras, and devotees headed by Sañjaya Paṇḍita, Mukunda Datta, and Vāsu Ghoṣa sing sweet kīrtana. (5) Conchshells, bells, and karatālas resound, and the mṛdaṅgas play very sweetly. This kīrtana music is supremely sweet and relishable to hear. (6) The brilliance of Lord Caitanya’s face conquers millions upon millions of moons, and the garland of forest flowers around His neck shines. (7) Lord Śiva, Śukadeva Gosvāmī, and Nārada Muni are all there, and their voices are choked with the ecstasy of transcendental love. Thus Ṭhakura Bhaktivinoda envisions the glory of Lord Śrī Caitanya. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #gauraarti #kirtan #spiritualmusic #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
So what we have here is an institution meant to continually channel the water that Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu, brought from the great ocean of mercy of Kṛṣṇa. We're kind of like civil engineers, right? Sometimes they cut channels like Mulholland; Los Angeles wouldn't be a name right now if Mulholland, a very expert engineer, hadn't figured out how to "steal" all the water from Northern California (you can tell where I'm from) and bring it down to Los Angeles to make the desert fertile. Economics, I learned from an economics book, is the science of managing scarce resources and thereafter the law of supply and demand; but we learn from the Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta that there is no scarce resource in the spiritual world. The more we channel the mercy of Nityānanda Prabhu to the world, the more the supply increases. That's a Haribol! That's a secret of success. Also, when we have an institution meant to distribute mercy, "the devil is in the details," but we can come out of the details by principles. And one of the principles that Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu exhibited and taught to the world is the principle of adoṣa-darśī. Everyone is envious in the material world—my brother gets a raise, and I think, "Darn"; somebody else leads a great kīrtana, it feels like ughh!! As Kṛṣṇa says in the Bhagavad-gītā, this is the lingering disease in the material world. Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu represents the uttama-adhikārī who sees beyond the faults of all living entities, which are cataloged by Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura in the Fourth Canto of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam in his commentary, where he says there are four kinds of people that are highly expert at finding faults, some are better at it than others. And there are four kinds of saintly persons who are expert at following finding the good qualities in others. The first fault-finder sees that there are good qualities and bad qualities and then he only sees the bad; second, he’s more advanced, he sees the good and bad qualities so he brings up the bad quality to make sure everybody knows about it; the third doesn’t even see any good qualities, just sees the bad; and the fourth is so expert that even in those that only have good qualities, he finds some fault. Conversely, in those who represent Lord Nityānanda to one degree or another, the first sees good and bad qualities but chooses to see the good; the second one sees good and bad and brings up the good quality; the third doesn’t see the bad quality, just the good; and the fourth, even in a person who is sudurācāra, who has no good qualities factually, a person who is a representative of Lord Nityānanda finds a good quality. The lotus feet of Lord Nityananda are a shelter where one will get the soothing moonlight not only of one, but of millions of moons. If the world wants to have real peace, it should take shelter of Lord Nityananda. Unless one takes shelter under the shade of the lotus feet of Lord Nityananda, it will be very difficult for him to approach Radha-Krsna. If one actually wants to enter into the dancing party of Radha-Krsna, he must firmly catch hold of the lotus feet of Lord Nityananda. Time Frames for Goals There are various time frames. For longer time frames—if you want a longish time frame—you could say, "What's your goal for the next 108 years?" And you may say, "Well, what are you talking about?" It makes you think at least: where will you be in 108 years from now? Think about it. Once you write that goal down, it'll make you thoughtful. You could put down goals for 10 years. (These are all just suggestions.) You could put down a goal for five years. You could put a goal for one year. How about six months? How about one month? I really like 30-day goals because it's a short enough time that you can see the end of it, so it's not too intimidating; but if you can stick it out for 30 days, it gives you a chance to change your habit patterns in your life. How about a one-day goal? If you write down what your goal for the day is in the morning, you're going to be more directed. You'll have that 'Tivrena' effect. What about a goal for an hour? Up in my room upstairs, I have a countdown timer that I carry with me everywhere. I have one at home, one in my suitcase, and I use it all the time to get going. Sometimes I don't feel like going, so what I do is I set myself a five-minute goal. I just turn it to five minutes and say, "Okay, see what you can do in five minutes. That's all I ask of you." Once I take that challenge, then I can start moving in a sanguine direction and get momentum. There are many different time frames that you can create for yourself. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
Don't take yourself too seriously, in a way, because, you know, we're insignificant. Prabhupāda signed all his letters, 'Your insignificant beggar.' And if you come in like that, I mean, how bad can you blow it as an insignificant beggar? It's like, what do you expect? I'm just doing my best right here, and I don't know where I came from. I don't know where I'm going. I don't know anything. You know, I don't know how AI is going to turn out in the end. Who does? Even the best scientists on the Earth are going, 'I don't know what this stuff is.' So, we don't know much; we're just floating around. But if you appreciate Kṛṣṇa’s intelligence in the Bhagavad-gītā, just that He's talking to you directly—get that feeling, and it will guide you always. He's always there, guiding from within the heart. We have buddhi-yoga, which means 'the best.' It's way better than the paid-for version, even of ChatGPT, or the 'Deep' ChatGPT, or any of the search engines. The best search engine is there: Kṛṣṇa is in your heart because He's nice and He's actually a person, whereas AI is just recycling stuff. It comes from a data center that's going at 100°C, and you’ve got to keep them running and suck all the energy through one little building out of a town. You know, everything's held together by rubber bands, but Kṛṣṇa is substantial. So, just take shelter of Him, and don't worry too much. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #japajolt #makejapagreatagain #mantrameditation #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
I had such an experience with a colleague of mine with whom I was working on a highly contentious legal situation. It was high-risk and, to me, it seemed like there was very little gain. Nonetheless, it was my duty. I had to deal with it. Because the person had—not just because he had a lot more experience, but because he had practiced equanimity in his life—and luckily I was partnered with him in the project, I noticed that going into every conversation, he remained equipoised and only dealt with the facts at hand, without becoming overly anxious about the outcome. I noticed that he did this over several months. He just showed up. The way I described it to others was: 'He came with his lunchbox.' He dealt with the situation as duty. One of the reasons it left such an impression on me was I saw that, ultimately, everything worked itself out. Well, it didn't just 'work itself out'; the ongoing negotiations helped, but there was a favorable conclusion at the end. I had thought about the way in which this person had conducted himself through the whole process. I had also heard, in the context of a dialogue I had heard, when somebody was asked, 'Aren't you nervous or afraid?' and he said, 'Why would that help? Would it help if I became more nervous or overly concerned, or would it help if I just did what I could with what I have right now?' So, oftentimes, there's a palpable result in remaining equipoised: doing one's duty without becoming overly concerned with the result; doing what you can with what you have now. I mentioned these three features: one is it tends to de-escalate conflict; another is that it invites collaboration; and the third is we're able to make clearer decisions without becoming biased. Because we want to see a particular result, we deal with what we can in the moment, and that emotional regulation—which equanimity could be described as—becomes contagious. Have you ever been in a dialogue with somebody that's close to you? Oftentimes, as I've heard and experienced myself, if you're close to somebody day-to-day—maybe even live together or travel together—and then you have a conversation, emotions can flare. But if one or the other remains equipoised in the conversation, then it tends to spread to the other person as well. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #successsadhana#spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirit

Just this morning, we had a three-hour meeting. When’s the last time you had a three-hour Zoom call? We had one this morning from 7:00 AM to 10:00, right on the dot— we started right at seven, we ended at ten. We had maybe about ten people, and it was our beginning-of-the-year brainstorming session. Vision, mission, brainstorming for 2026 and beyond: What are our next goals for distributing knowledge that’s what keeps us up at night and wakes us up early in the morning: how to do good for others. This is what Advaita Ācārya did—he couldn’t sleep thinking about the plight of those in the material world who didn’t have the opportunity to come in contact with true knowledge. The rich people were burning their money up doing all these crazy rituals, and poor people were wasting money on intoxication and frivolous activities. And he thought, 'Please, let me be a force in the world to reform them.' So he prayed for Lord Caitanya to come, and he helped to organize the distribution of knowledge. In fact, did you know that Advaita Ācārya went door to door? How’d you like it if Mahā-Viṣṇu came to your front door? 'Who’s at the door, honey?' 'I think it’s God. He’s come knocking at our door.' That’s how eager The Supreme Personality of Godhead is. He likes to do it, and He knows the formula. If you just go out and make yourself available—when it’s cold or rainy or too hot or you don’t feel like it—you’re going to feel bad anyway; the material world’s just like that. But if you pray, you chant, and you go out and try to give the knowledge to other people, you’ll feel joyful 24 hours a day, and your thoughts will be transcendental. Because what you’re going to do—if you toss and turn at night right now, you’ll still toss and turn—but you’re going to be thinking about: "How can I distribute Bhagavad-gītā, not just in English, but in Arabic and in Farsi, in French and Japanese, all over the world?" And if that’s your preoccupation in life, you’re a liberated soul. It’s not hard; it’s a simple process. These are heartfelt principles brought to us by Advaita Ācārya, who offered them to everybody. If you live in some far-flung place, you can restart the Hare Kṛṣṇa movement right from your place. All you have to do is have a Bhagavad-gītā and start reading it. Invite people to come over, chant a little bit, and when they get inspired, have them go out and chant for other people. The miracle happens again and again and again. Everyone’s waiting for a miracle in this world, but one has already come: it’s Advaita Ācārya. He showed us how to do it. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------
I was just in Davis over the last few days and had the opportunity to be with the devotees there in the ashram. We were spending some good time chanting japa from early in the morning till later in the morning. I had several discussions, especially with Devavrata Prabhu, who especially likes japa. It’s always nice to be around somebody who specializes in such things; he thinks about it, he chants a lot, and he is very dedicated to it—as are all the residents of the ashram there in Davis. He told me something when we were discussing it that I found quite useful in my chanting of japa. Should I share it with you? He’s not here, right? Okay, that makes it more opportune. It’s simple, but very helpful. He said the way he thinks about chanting japa—and something he had heard from somebody he knows who’s attached to chanting japa—is: "Just chant and let the sound vibration touch your ears in a very sweet way." Say the name and let the name touch your ears in a very sweet way. If you think about that, it’s simple enough. You don’t become too absorbed in the mechanics of meditation, but you just think of chanting sweetly, which means thinking of Krishna as the sweetest of the sweet. When I first got an iPhone, I tried out the feature in which you say something and then it prints the text back. Now, of course, it seems commonplace, back then it was a novelty. I said, "Haribol!" was the first thing I told my phone, and it translated it as "Honey bowl." I thought, "That’s pretty good. This is a very deep phone." It means that chanting is very sweet; it’s like a honey bowl. So, if you think of "Haribol" as "Honey bowl," and you chant sweetly—let the sound touch your ears sweetly—you don’t have to do much else because: nāmnām akāri bahudhā nija-sarva-śaktis tatrārpitā niyamitaḥ smaraṇe na kālaḥ etādṛśī tava kṛpā bhagavan mamāpi durdaivam īdṛśam ihājani nānurāgaḥ (Śikṣāṣṭaka, Verse 2) There’s a way in which Krishna is already sweet. You don’t have to conjure sweetness; He just is sweet. Just like a honey bowl, you don’t have to make it any sweeter. You don’t need stevia or sugar; you just take it. Lord Caitanya said Krishna’s names have His natural potencies, which are madhuraṁ madhuraṁ madhuram—sweet, sweet, sweet. So, just let that be the mode and keep letting it hit your ear. Just let it hit your ear and don’t worry about any mechanics other than that. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #makejapagreatagain #mantrameditation #chantharekrishnaandbehappy #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconn
Simple, straightforward hearing and chanting—reading Prabhupāda's books—is the primal sound of our organization. That's where you get the connection: just to hear it, what Prabhupāda wrote. That's most important. Prabhupāda was eager for everyone to read his books for that very reason, because he poured himself into the books. So, that's really important. And then also, the missionary spirit—taking time to go out. You can't replace that with anything else. Even if you become a scholar of Prabhupāda's books, but you don't show mercy to others, it's not going to be the same effect. Both things have to be there because when you go out and you try to teach people Kṛṣṇa consciousness, first of all, you realize what Prabhupāda went through; he suffered the same grief of teaching people. And you also become adept at reading Prabhupāda's books because you get questions and challenges and so forth. Seeing people categorically reject them you can see that same tendency for atheism in yourself. And then you can see people who spontaneously embrace them, and you might say, 'Oh, I wish I had as much enthusiasm as they did.' In other words, it's uplifting to go out and present it to other people. So those two things, on a simple level, are organizing ways in which to hear—especially from Prabhupāda's books—and emphasizing that it's important to assimilate what we already have before branching out too far. I usually talk about 80/20: 80% core, 20% reference and explore to try to understand the Vaiṣṇava canon. But even in that, be really aware of the fact that the various ways people translate could be off. I once asked Hṛdayānanda Mahārāja, "Which Mahābhārata should I read?" He said, "Don't read the Mahābhārata. Just read the Bhāgavatam." He said that because everything's confirmed in the Bhāgavatam, and there are so many editions of the Mahābhārata that you can't tell which one's which or which ones have been interpolated. So he said, "Just study the Bhāgavatam, and everything you need to know is in there." So, who's done that? A few people, not many. But those who have are noticeably enlightened by reading the Bhāgavatam. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
Here are a few comments that come from Śrīdhara Svāmī—the great Bhāgavata commentator from antiquity—on the verse 'bhayaṁ dvitīyābhiniveśataḥ syat.' He gives a comment about why knowledge alone cannot remove fear. He says, "If fear comes from ignorance (this is the question someone might pose), shouldn't knowledge alone remove it?" He points out that the Bhāgavata’s answer is that māyā is not merely ignorance; it is a personal, active potency (duratyayā). Therefore, intellectual correction is insufficient. He explains why "ahaṁ brahmāsmi" can reduce suffering temporarily, but without positive shelter, fear returns. Fear ends not when identity is negated, but when identity is anchored in Kṛṣṇa. So, besides understanding one’s constitutional position—which is essential, mamaivāṁśo jīva-loke jīva-bhūtaḥ sanātanaḥ manaḥ-ṣaṣṭhānīndriyāṇi prakṛti-sthāni karṣati that verse (BG 15.7) came to mind as you mentioned how we struggle with the mind. We are parts and parcels of Kṛṣṇa; we are always connected to Him. But then, we struggle with the six senses and the mind. When one gets knowledge of ahaṁ brahmāsmi and the information of one’s relationship with Kṛṣṇa, and a process through which one can repair that relationship. Śrīla Prabhupāda describes this in the purport from the Bhagavad-gītā: ādau śraddhā tataḥ sādhu-saṅgo 'tha bhajana-kriyā tato 'nartha-nivṛttiḥ syāt tato niṣṭhā rucis tataḥ In the beginning, there must be an awakening of faith (ādau). That generally comes by association with devotees who plant the seed of faith in the heart, because there is a natural way in which we pick up the qualities of those with whom we associate. Pure devotees—those fully dedicated to Kṛṣṇa—carry a certain potency within their heart, as described by Yudhiṣṭhira to Vidura (SB 1.13.10): bhavad-vidhā bhāgavatās tīrtha-bhūtāḥ svayaṁ vibho tīrthī-kurvanti tīrthāni svāntaḥ-sthena gadābhṛtā He told Vidura, "You are a walking tīrtha because you carry the Supreme Personality of Godhead within your heart." The meaning of that—since everyone carries the Supreme Personality of Godhead within their heart—is that the devotee has love for Kṛṣṇa within his heart. Therefore, coming in contact with such a person, one is able to perceive the goal of life. Even if not intellectually, one feels it: "This person is trustworthy. I can surrender here because the person has no material motive." That is an observation many people had upon meeting Prabhupāda. People have said many times, remembering their connection with him, "He saw right through me. I felt at that time that he saw my soul," or, "He wasn't judging me; he was only giving me mercy and compassion." That can only come from somebody who has love for Kṛṣṇa within their heart. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality
In our chanting, we may come to a moment of awareness that we have the opportunity—as Kṛṣṇa is calling us through the devotees, directly Himself through the Gītā, and in the heart—to surrender. The moment that becomes momentous, noteworthy, exciting, or interesting in the life of any jīva, and that has an effect on the whole universe beyond the status quo of the material world, is when we individually decide, expressing our sincerity and our free will: 'I am going to surrender to Kṛṣṇa.' As the story goes on, the war takes place and the disaster unfolds based on that one decision that Dhṛtarāṣṭra made not to follow what Kṛṣṇa had advised. Then Vidura comes and rescues Dhṛtarāṣṭra out of his goodwill and love for him, and he drags him out. Prabhupāda mentions in that section—when Dhṛtarāṣṭra is becoming reformed through the process of Aṣṭāṅga-yoga—that if he had started earlier, he would have had the opportunity to have complete success. However, he only made it a few preliminary steps; he made a few preliminary spiritual steps by the grace of Vidura. So, the other impetus for us is to not wait until Vidura has to pull us out. Preemptively, take the steps. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
Śrī Advaita Ācārya’s place is indicative of how the Kṛṣṇa conscious movement starts. It’s a small place out in the countryside, and anyone can start a Kṛṣṇa conscious wave from anywhere. How is it done? Advaita Ācārya’s penchant is for presenting the Bhagavad-gītā As It Is. Many people present the Bhagavad-gītā, but then they give some mal‑interpretation. They say Kurukṣetra means “the senses.” They say Kṛṣṇa doesn’t really mean Kṛṣṇa when He says “surrender unto Me”; it just means “surrender to the unborn within Kṛṣṇa,” whatever the heck that means—which ultimately means you can do whatever you want. Advaita Ācārya—and the reason He’s called Ācārya—is because He teaches the Bhagavad-gītā As It Is. It’s from this place that He would hold forth every day and speak the truth of the Bhagavad-gītā. And people would come to His class. So this is what we can do also. Someone might say, “Oh, I don’t have any service. What can I do?” It’s like: Do you have a Bhagavad-gītā As It Is? Anyone? If not, see me afterwards. If you have a Bhagavad-gītā, (better you have a few boxes) invite some people to your house. And what will you give them to eat? Śāk. Give them a little śāk and fried cream. If you give nice prasādam, people will come—even if they don’t like philosophy. When we first started, Nirākulā and I began a program at our house that went for sixteen years, and we had people come over every week. When it first started, I was putting together some very simple prasādam. We had dates and mascarpone cheese and just a few little snack‑like things. And we were getting, you know, one person, three people, five people. And then Nirākulā started cooking all of everyone’s favorites—pies, macaroni and cheese—and then all of a sudden we couldn’t fit everybody in the house. Then I realized the formula for the Kṛṣṇa conscious movement: If you cook, they will come. And then if you have a discussion on the Bhagavad-gītā, even if you don’t know the philosophy well, that’s okay. It’s written down. You just read it and discuss it, and a magic happens—and that is, people’s hearts change when they hear that actually God is a person, and we’re sparks of that person. We’re also persons, just like Kṛṣṇa. We’re His expansions, and we’re also His servants, and there is service to do. Chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa is the Yuga‑dharma—simple things—and people suddenly feel aligned, like, “Yes, I can do this too.” And yes, you can, from any little spot—wherever you might live, out in the country or in the middle of a big city. If you hold a Bhagavad-gītā class, then people will come, and the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement will start anew from your place. Because it’s the vibration that comes from the Bhagavad-gītā, as presented by Advaita Ācārya that actually sustains the Kṛṣṇa conscious movement. It has nothing to do with our infrastructure. You can have brick and mortar here, there, and everywhere, but unless you have the vibration of the Bhagavad-gītā As It Is, you don’t have anything different from the downtown buildings you find in Minneapolis, Minnesota, or Cincinnati, Ohio—any other place; they’re all the same. What defines a realm is the sound vibration of that realm, and what defines our lives is the sound vibration that we take in on a daily basis.
