The Sound Chaser Progressive Rock Podcast is on the air. The show this time is the second edition of the broadcast releases special. The first was way back in November, 2016. It is time to do it again with a new batch of previously broadcast goodies. Every piece of music on this show was originally broadcast on radio or television, and then subsequently released on cd or video. Because there were two major outlets for such broadcasts, the BBC in the UK and The King Biscuit Flower Hour syndicated broadcast in the US, those will be the major sources for the music here. However, the show does feature broadcasts from other sources including an internet only source. Most, but not all, of the music here is performed live. So get set for that old-time feel of the radio broadcast event on Sound Chaser. Playlist1. Porcupine Tree - Where We Would Be [Radio III Poland 6/4/01], from Warszawa2. The Sound Chaser Progressive Rock Podcast is on the air. The show this time I am calling The Compilation Compilation. That is right, every piece of music on this show is selected from a compilation album. These would be such things as music label samplers, festival concert recordings, multi-artist tributes to bands, and charity-benefit cds. We will sort through compilations of the vinyl and cd eras, identify some of the types of compilation albums, and find a few obscure objets d’art along the way. It’s an enjoyable journey through some surprising discoveries on Sound Chaser. Playlist1. The Sound Chaser Progressive Rock Podcast is on the air. The show this time is a special review of albums that made the Official Progressive Albums Chart. I also have an In Memoriam feature to commemorate Moody Blues keyboardist Mike Pinder. All that, plus news of tours and releases on Sound Chaser. Official Charts is the company in the UK that keeps track of singles and album sales in the UK, the equivalent of Billboard in the US. In 2015, Official Charts started a new feature, the Progressive albums chart, which started as a monthly listing in September of that year. Charts cover a one-month period, listing the top 30 sellers in that category for that month. Because the charts simply rate according to sales, albums that make the charts include not only new music, but also reissues of old music. Thus, you will hear in the sample in this show a mix of the newer and older music. Also, I have not limited the selections to chart toppers, but have included music that peaked in different locations of the charts. Playlist1. The Sound Chaser Progressive Rock Podcast is on the air. The show this time is another of the annual birthday gift to myself shows. On these shows, I select some of my favorite pieces of progressive music. On this occasion, I have decided to narrow the range of choices a bit. Because we are now almost a quarter of the way through the 21st century, I thought it would be a good idea to play some of the highlight pieces from the 2000s so far. I have not arranged the pieces in any particular order, but just put together the show in otherwise the usual way. I hope you enjoy these selections as much as I do. Playlist1.
