Description
Cars, Coffee and Comedy hosted by comedian and automotive enthusiast Spike Feresten and featuring Jerry Seinfeld, lawyer Paul Zuckerman, MotorTrend's Jonny Lieberman, and The Smoking Tire's Matt Farah with guests from the automotive industry, notable comedians and celebrities. As always, there's one empty chair at Spike's table saved for you, the listener.
460 Episodes
Reverse
Spike and Jonny cover the Long Beach Grand Prix, a Ferrari restomod that's trying not to get sued, and a Lucid sedan that runs a 9.2-second quarter mile. Also: the guys bought an insanely rare '71 Porsche 911 T Targa and a billionaire had Aston Martin build him a one-off track car faster than an F1 car.

Spike went to Long Beach and became the official face of heart valve health. Yes, really. Catch him on Good Morning America apparently.
Jonny Lieberman drives the 355 by Evoluto, a Ferrari F355 restomod with a carbon fiber body, wider track, gated manual, and 420hp. It's 200 pounds lighter than stock and Jonny loves it. Then they tear into the Starke Speedster, a 356-style body slapped onto a 718 Boxster chassis, and Spike is not impressed. Meanwhile, the Lucid Air Sapphire shows up with 1,234 horsepower and Bugatti-level quarter-mile times in a luxury sedan package.
Morris Solomon is now the official car curator for SCR fans, kicking things off with a museum-quality 1971 Porsche 911 T Targa with no miles, one of Jerry Seinfeld's cars. Also, Hyundai EV sales jumped 39.8% in a single month, so maybe pump the brakes on the "EVs are dead" takes. Aston Martin built a billionaire a single-seat, one-off track car based on the Valkyrie AMR Pro. It leaked. The guys have thoughts.
Join Spike at the Pacific Palisades Motor Classic on June 13th. Bring your car. Jay Leno will probably be there.

Spike sits down with Andy Preuninger, the man who built Porsche's GT division into what it is today, to talk the new 2027 911 GT3 SC, why more horsepower is "complete bullshit," and what it actually takes to spec a GT car correctly. Andy also reveals he's a truck guy. Yes, really.

Andreas "Andy" Preuninger is the Director of Porsche's GT model line and the guy responsible for the GT3, GT3 RS, GT2 RS, 911 ST, 718 Spyder RS, and every other car that makes enthusiasts lose their minds. Spike calls him "the Pope of GT Cars," and Andy doesn't exactly disagree.
They break down the philosophy behind Porsche GT: driver engagement over raw numbers, lightweight over luxury, form that always follows function. Andy drops his personal specs for any GT car (front-axle lift, PCCB, bucket seats, and skip the fancy leather), explains why he hates black wheels with a passion, and shares why the GT3 Touring now outsells the winged version with 80% of buyers still choosing the manual.
On the new 2027 911 GT3 SC (Sport Cabriolet): Andy calls it an "everyday Speedster", a GT3 Touring with a fully automated roof built for the open-air crowd who didn't want to wrestle with a manual top. European emissions legislation in 2027 is driving the timeline, and production will roughly double the 911 ST's numbers. Andy also ranks the 718 Spyder RS in his personal top three out of 26 cars he's developed, explains how Porsche hides test cars from Nürburgring paparazzi, and gets into why he thinks the next frontier for GT cars is agility — not horsepower.
Plus: his personal 993 Cabriolet, what German driver's licenses actually cost, his Hemi-powered Dodge Ram, and whether he'd have a Corvette if he lived in the States.

James Pumphrey hit the Dakar Rally with Tudor watches, then flew to Geneva to attempt building a watch movement by hand. Spoiler: tiny screws are no joke. Back stateside, he's turning a $3,000 VW Golf with 300k miles into a project car built for regular people, not influencers with sponsor budgets.
Peter Nam of Gunther Werks crashed the episode last-minute to bring in the 'Endgame': a one-of-one 4.0L twin-turbo Speedster commissioned by a client with a serious Marvel obsession. We're talking 840 horsepower, 2,600 lbs, 24k gold-plated engine components, and a shifter micro-pavéd with real gemstones representing the Infinity Stones. The candy red paint was matched to high-end Iron Man figures. This thing is absurd in the best possible way.
Along the way: Porsche GT3 SC debate, the 911 GT4 rumors nobody's officially confirmed, a Malibu GT3 RS crash Spike definitely wasn't involved in, and a roast of a Porsche dealership's Botox-and-matching-outfits marketing campaign aimed at women.
Also: Peter drops insider intel on Porsche's upcoming $2.5–3M Hybrid V8 halo car. Not the Mission X. Something much more interesting.

Spike and Zuckerman sit down with Evan from LA in a Minute to dig into the surprisingly rich automotive history of Los Angeles, from the first gas-powered car tested at 2 a.m. on Broadway in 1897 to how a racing speedway literally built Beverly Hills. Plus, Spike reviews the Aston Martin Vantage S, Evan confesses to rear-ending a nun, and the crew debates why Angelenos can't stop saying "the" before freeway numbers.

Evan Lovett, the creator of 'LA in a Minute,' brings a level of LA history nerd energy that even Spike didn't see coming. They trace the city's car culture all the way back to 1897, when two guys, Erie and Sturgis, built a Karl Benz-inspired four-wheeler in Boyle Heights and snuck it out at 2 a.m. to avoid spooking horses. From there: the Beverly Hills Speedway (yes, that's why Beverly Hills is Beverly Hills), the golden age of LA mass transit that somehow nobody remembers, In-N-Out inventing the two-way speaker box in 1948, and why Angelenos measure every trip in minutes, not miles.
Spike also reviews the Aston Martin Vantage S: 670hp, plasma blue, CarPlay Ultra, and apparently better than a Porsche in at least one dimension. Evan delivers a confession about rear-ending a nun while reading a magazine. And the crew gives the Petersen Automotive Museum its flowers, including the vault that holds Magnum P.I.'s Ferrari and an Ayrton Senna F1 car.
If you live in LA, drive through LA, or have ever wondered why everyone says "the 405", this one's for you.

Matt Farah pulls up to the SCR Garage to break down the Aston Martin Vantage S and Aston Martin Valhalla, debate carmakers' million-dollar hypercar obsession, and drop a rumor about a Porsche GT3 Touring Cabriolet. Matt Farah is in the building, and nothing is off limits. Lieberman calls the Aston Martin Vantage S "sorted" and explains why the roadster beats the coupe. The Valhalla gets a deep dive: 999 units, $1.2M, carbon tub, three electric motors, and an engineer poached from McLaren. Then the guys get into whether hypercars are actually a sustainable business model or just manufacturers chasing ultra-rich buyers while leaving enthusiasts behind.
A double-sourced rumor surfaces: Porsche may be building a GT3 Touring Cabriolet, possibly called the "Sport Cab" with prototypes already spotted at Weissach.
Other stops on this episode: the Toyota Land Cruiser's identity crisis, a brutal Corvette Z06 crash, Spike's Bronco getting beat up by a caddy from the Brentwood Country Club, and Daniel Craig looking very uncomfortable in Denza EV promo photos.
Matt Farah is also giving away a fully optioned Porsche Turbo S!

This week in the SCR Garage: Spike wrestled a tire cover onto his Bronco and Jonny put a phone mount in his Rivian — small wins, maximum joy. Zuckerman got his '66 with freshly fettled carbs and calls it a brand-new car after 14 years. Then it's a full review of the McLaren Artura — great daily driver, great canyon carver, but does it have the dream factor? Jonny says "I love McLarens. I'm not in love with this McLaren."
The guys also dig into Jay Leno's renewed effort to kill smog tests for classic cars in California, a luxury watch trader doing 15 years for drug money laundering (and whether the same thing's happening in car auctions), and an anti-AI Waymo attack. Russell Crowe's watch collection gets a proper salute, and Tyler Sheridan's TV universe gets roasted for its very reliable coed shower formula.

This week on SCR, it's a full lap through car world chaos: Jaguar's PR nightmare over Gerry McGovern's departure, a legit review of the new Toyota 4Runner Trailhunter from Jonny, and Porsche patenting a shifter that tries to be both automatic and manual (bold move).
The SCR Garage is selling their rare Zagato to fund the next project, and we find out that Kramer's car on Seinfeld was one of the first production vehicles with a working airbag.
Ford CEO Jim Farley is one of the most car-obsessed executives in the industry, and it shows. He breaks down why Ford partnered with Red Bull for their F1 power unit, what tech actually transfers from the track to your driveway, and why Formula 1's growth isn't slowing down anytime soon. Farley also gets into IndyCar's uphill battle, the 2026 Mustang Dark Horse SC, Ford's all-hybrid and EREV future, and his personally-delivered black Ford Explorer to Pope Leo.

Zuckerman rolls in a pristine 1968 Alfa Romeo GT Junior (factory plastic still on the seats) and Brian Finster from Sotheby's Motorsport stops by to talk high-end online car auctions. Also on the docket: California's Montana car registration tax evasion crackdown, the new Porsche 911 Turbo S putting GT3 buyers in an existential crisis, and somehow... funeral home horror stories.

This week's episode is a full lap around the garage. Paul Zuckerman brings in a stunning 1968 Alfa Romeo GT Junio: Bluette paint, Cinghiale interior, flying buttress seats, and yes, the original factory plastic still intact. The big debate: do you peel it or leave it?
The guys pivot to California's crackdown on wealthy car owners using Montana plates to dodge taxes on exotic cars. Zuckerman breaks down the charges: conspiracy, perjury, money laundering.
The new 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S gets its moment too. Hybrid powertrain, 2 second 0-60. It's making the GT3 look like a lifestyle choice instead of a performance one. Porsche also confirms a new $2-3 million halo car, and Spike reminds everyone he called it first.
Brian Finster from Sotheby's Motorsport joins to explain how their 24/7 online auction platform works, and what a Python Green 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet looks like when it's ready to go live. The show closes with a deeply weird and very funny detour into funeral home mix-up stories. Standard stuff.

This week, Spike and Jonny break down ModaMiami — the RM Sotheby's "spite show" born out of Florida automotive drama. Jonny recounts getting rained on while watching a GT40 take storm damage, and somehow ended up in a headlock from a drunk British attendee.
On the automotive news front: a Carrera GT sells BIG at auction, Estonian gangs are running a center-lock wheel theft operation in Berlin, a Waymo blocked paramedics in Austin, and Donut Labs to have cracked solid-state batteries for EVs.
Then actor James Marsden joins the crew to discuss his role as the President on Hulu's Paradise, Your Friends & Neighbors, and his upcoming project with Vince Vaughn. Plus, James' 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Black Edition gets restored by Spike and crew.

This week on Spike's Car Radio, Spike claims to be the first person outside of Subaru's bubble to drive the new Uncharted EV — 338 horsepower, off-road modes, and a starting price of $46K. Jonny Lieberman then goes deep on the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance: 831hp, 1021 lb-ft of torque, 0-60 in 2.4 seconds, and a whole 1 mile of electric range. They debate whether it looks good. The verdict is complicated.
The hosts also weigh in on LA's incoming 125 speed cameras, Nantucket's surprisingly drug-heavy wastewater, and a product called the "D**k Laser" that somehow gets a full design consultation.
The main event: Agent Sebastian from Cart Narcs sits down to explain how a simple question about shopping cart laziness turned into a viral empire. They review clips of people threatening lawsuits, dropping racial slurs from an Audi R8, and one guy in Texas going full unhinged over a cart. Spoiler: one of them works for Jimmy Kimmel. Plus, Spike is deputized as a Cart Narc and heads to Costco to accost the lazybones of L.A.

Peter Nam's CTR Ferrari 458 project showcases the best of aftermarket engineering with its quality modifications and performance upgrades. In tech news, Waymo self-driving cars make headlines for all the wrong reasons as the hosts humorously dissect recent incidents. The episode takes unexpected turns with a bizarre Florida man vacuum story and appreciation for William Shatner enjoying cereal in his car during his "f**k it years." Best episode in some time. 👍
cars are cool
👍
OMG, Porsche perfectly trolled Spike, and he fell for it.
Crowded House and Scott Dixon! Excellent!
👍👍👍
tough not to warm up your car for at least a few minutes before driving when it's an old diesel that shakes the dash and sounds like rod knock when it's properly cold 😅
When did Spike turn into such a curmudgeon?
Sorry Johnny, I have to call bullshit on your comment that everyone stays in their lane on Angeles Crest. I was nearly killed in 1990 by a Goldwing rider who crossed over the centerline and hit me head-on. It happens way to often. Be careful up there!
Stop talking over each other. Stop trying to artificially roast Matt about vitamin D. It’s the fact that vitamin D deficiency is a major factor in covid death risk
Great show! My buddies & I watched it go across the block at Monterey. My biggest auto F'up, my '96 993 Supercup. Bought it for 55k, raced it for a year & sold it for 57.5 to buy my RSA... another mistake that I sold to buy a 996 Cup. Sure wish I had that 993 Cup back.. ugh
What a way to finish the year! Personal favorite for 2019.
Murano makeup.. always those female Murano drivers applying makeup, I've seen it more than once.
Great show! 1hr is not enough
You were right, Spike. Keep it clear for the listener.
