Hey everyone! Listen here to get to know a little more about your hosts Jessica Darin and Amy Williams. In today's episode we talk about our family, a little background of how we grew up and we touch on a little bit of our experiences with grief. We are excited to share with you our family members, too. Jessica is married to Angelo and they have their one year old Weston. Amy is married to Shannon and they have 3 kids, Amara, Elijah, and Sarai. Jessica talks about losing her dad and Amy talks about losing both her parents. Listen to learn more!
Jess and Amy talk about dating, marriage and what to do if you are in a relationship that might not be good for you. We ask questions like; Are you lifting each other up? What age do you allow your children to start dating? When did you start dating? How dating has changed from before social media and now? We also touch on the subject of couples counseling and how it's helped in both of our marriages. Laugh with us about silly quirks of which direction to put the toilet paper roll, leaving cupboard doors open and all the little things that make a relationship work or fail.
Today Jess and Amy talk about friendships. They talk about their ride or die friends, what has made a friendship last or not. What makes a good friend? Are you being fake? HONESTY is key in any relationship, but how honest are you? Amy gives a few examples of when her friends really showed up and showed their love in a time of need. You don't want to miss this one!
Thank you so much for helping Jess and Amy with the Spilled Coffee podcast Launch!

Jessica is back from Florida just in time to talk with our friend Alexis Bates. We got to learn from her what it was like growing up biracial. The conversation flows from her childhood experiences to current racial tensions and issues that we deal with as adults. Amy compares her interracial marriage and raising biracial children with Alexis and how some things are similar and others completely different. We talk about White privilege and what box to check on forms for college applications and doctors offices. Do you wash your chicken before you cook it? We talk about different stereotypes and genetic differences between races. This conversation is honest, light hearted with lots of giggles in the mix.
In this episode Jessica and Amy talk about the lovely topic of grief. Thank you Angelo, Angela, Quiana, Jen, and many more who participated with our social media platforms to help us on this episode.

Are you looking to better understand depression and how to help the ones you love that are suffering from depression? In this episode we had the pleasure of talking with Zach Toonstra. Husband of Heather Toonstra and father of two kids. Heather was our guest on Episode 7!
Not only does he talk about growing up with a parent who suffered from depression, but how that experience helped him understand what Heather and their family needed. He talks about his military background, work/life balance, taking time off, and the relationship he has with his coworkers and how much they helped, too.
"Teamwork" is a major word used in their marriage and it shows!
Depression is a mental health illness and it doesn't look or act the same in everyone and we know that support doesn't always look the same either. We also cover what to say and what to avoid saying to someone struggling with depression.
As always, there's a blooper reel at the end!

Episode 11 is with special guest; Kenzie Darin! We got to know her life story as far as her relationship with her 8 year old daughter Laylah, and the relationship with Laylah's father. We dive into the struggles of being a single mom. The time that Laylah gets with her Dad has been pretty inconsistent over her 8 years of life and we talk about what type of long term effect that might have and how to keep positive role models in her life. Being a single mom isn't always easy so we asked a few of these questions; Do you struggle financially? Do you get child support? How do you answer Dad questions from Laylah? Do people have misconceptions of what your life looks like? Do you have that "village" surrounding you to help out when needed? What do people say that bothers you as a single mom?
If you are a single momma and can relate make sure you tune in to this episode, know a single momma, but it's not you? Make sure you share this with them!
Hang on for the end of the episode where Laylah makes a special appearance and as always the blooper reel will add some extra giggles.
